Emanuel Swedenborg NEVER EXISTED. It's a character created by Jorge Luis Borges. He deceived you all. If he was still alive he would be laughing hard at this video.
How do you judge IQ from a non living brain? Genius is about brain usage: the chemical and electrical processes of efficient thought. You can tell it on an MRI. Not a brain.
The development of certain sections only shows realitive abilities. For example, if my verbal areas are more developed than my visual areas, I probably am better at English than Geometry.
The number of folds only show learning. Not how efficiently or well things were learned.
I would have put Marilyn Savant up there somewhere, she actually inspired and gave people a manual on how to increase their IQ, to me that's far more important than science or invention or playing some board game really well, and maybe expand the list to top 100, kinda cool to read short overview of these people didn't know some.
I feel this whole IQ thing is being used a new medium through which to assert individual superiority. In fact the original purpose of the IQ test was a tool for trying to justify certain racial superiority, under the name of "science". I'm not saying IQ tests are bad, but I do feel that a person's worth is not captured by a single number.
In terms of actual contributions, it is clear that Da Vinci, Goethe, De Stael don't belong on the list. Da Vinci especially, sorry to say. But according to IQ they may. Although if we're talking raw IQ, we can play with a lot of names, from Gauss to Euler, to Sidis or Langan in the present. If we're going by contributions clearly Newton and Einstein should be up near the top of the list, with Leibniz. Maxwell and Boltzmann, and Tesla maybe too? Shakespeare as well? Not a bad list tho. Lot of G.
Where are Nikola Tesla , Milutin Milankovic , Mileva Einstein , and other great Serbs ? , their I.Q. was at least 193 , Nikolas was 199 the highest ,Milankovices about 195 ? Fail on the video !
omg, idiots! think about it.... who makes the iq tests? who invented it? som stupid idiots! i never did a iq test and im not going to! nobody can tell you whether your intelligent or not -.- since intelligence is relative, everybody can have his own opinion -.-
Spinoza doesn't make the list. I've read the whole Ethics. It doesn't qualify. And Spinoza made no other contributions. Zero. Hume... definitely not. Kant belongs above Hume. It was after all Kant who had the final word, and he's not even on there. All in all the list is rather sound. Newton might qualify. Even Shakespeare. Maybe. But definitely not Spinoza or Hume.
@1almaz3 Indeed! My IQ is 140, but that doesn;t mean i'm an superman and can solve everything! I just think faster than the avarage people, but i also makes mistakes, i don't have even an diploma.
I dont want to breed, because i wouldn't want to bring life into this world overcrowded with morons; but i know my own value thanks
I engage in internet philanthropy by trying to educate people. refrain from breeding and make the world a better place by devoting your time & energy to other constructive endevours
i didn't say "i think i'm so smart". i know there are people much smarter than me, i know my genes are average.
I said "IQ should be part of a eugenics programme"
overcrowded world, credit bubbles.. peak oil.. the world is ruled by herd momentum and people skilled in predicting/manipulating the masses.
IMO getting the population down (might as well use IQ eugenics rather than just one-child-policy) would help as much as solving fusion, curing cancer or whatever
as we went from 2->6.7 billion people in one lifetime we clearly can remove 2/3rds and still have enough biodiversity :)
i think rising population makes us dependant on tech, and this weakens us in some ways (fragile interconnected global economy). Humans can survive in jungle, but we have to chop them down to sustain greater numbers..
biodiversity = keeping variety of habitats & lifestyles.
@gamiezion - 2-3 billion is a realistic target. one step at a time.
but look at it posatively..
prevent the lowest 50% of IQ's from breeding and the next generation of humans will have a significant average IQ boost!
our present problem is dependance on finite resource. pop boom can resume IF we solve fusion (again, more likely with more spare resources for R&D and a smarter population)
you still dont see where im coming from... limeting the population on this planet would be impractical at best.
allthough im in favour of creating a society with intellects only, id rather see it happen on another planet, where theres the space, resources and lack of idiots interferting. seeing thats something intellects can actually work on, while remaining moral.
how would it be like a submarine, we have the know how and technology (but not the money) to change mars' atmosphere into oxygen, after that its a mater of introducing water and wildlife.
after this... get ready to settle.
and the small, but intelligent group could go too another planet actually, seeing they can understand why its needed, what is needed and how they can make it come together
if the intellects are collectivly leaving the planet to start a new life, they could go to the bank for a loan, using their houses, cars, furniture, etc. as collaterol. their generally high wages would allow them to pay their initiall dept off.
and like i said before: when i talk about space colonization, i assume we change the atmosphere, as were capable of this and even a single probe could perform this job, given enough time for life to evolve.
you want the intellectuals go and fry themselves with cosmic rays to start a new life on mars, funding space travel & terraforming with... MORTGAGE EQUITY WITHDRAWAL!!
hahaha Now I remember why I think the earth is overpopulated by morons :)
(& yes, i'm well aware the masses can be manipulated but the biggest feats happen when herd & elite resonate)
right... im a morn for being to see something you do not?
furthernore im a moron because i do not accept youre idea, when it fundamentally constitutes genocide as no other means would fullfull youre goal?
offcourse im the moron here, realizing that mortages wont cover the whole bill, it will go someway, it was intended merely as an example of a source outside wealthy dumbasses.
I like pop control as advised by georgia-guidestones, guided for "fitness & diversity", which is not genocide.
One-Child-Policy would also be fine.
I usually say "IQ+Physical-Fitness" score.
With a lower pop level/ecofriendly life 'fitness' would be measured differently.
I think pop growth *reduces* diversity & fitness because it forces dependancy on industrial farming methods & global economies of scale, reducing Self-Sufficiency.
@gamiezion - hehe yeah i'm taking the piss a bit I admit. Just the fact you mention bankloans when we might be living through the collapse of fiat-ponzi system
its the way you explain it that some intellectuals can just band together to do it:)
It's IMO space is state/military level stuff. (i repeat, motivation for satelites+moonshot = spying+missile-bases)
i know euro colonization was part corp/speculator/entrepeneur funded but it went hand in hand with Navy/imperialism
@gamiezion IMO the peeps with the most money aren't usually scientist/engineer intellecutal types but rather speculator/lawyer/accountant/political-manipulator types.
(although i know some counter examples exist)
The super-rich are more likely to just but the best spot on earth :) and send disposable debt-slaves off to live in harsh conditions mining space (getting Cancer from cosmic rays)
& 100% certain elites DO have apocalypse survival plans - buying cold-war bunkers, filled with supplies
@gamiezion - IMO its such a huge undertaking that it would take collective will of mankind. "i'll have 1 kid, and the resources i would have spent on the second will go on the mars project".
only fusion would change that.. but then again fusion would vastly increase Earth's carrying-capacity making it less necassery.
youre seriously underestimating the power of intellect, its possible for someone to manipulate another without them even being aware theyre being manipulated.
for example, if you want someone to a certain job you yourself dont want to, ask them to go somewhere where youre sure theyll be asked to do it in youre stead, theyll be forced to do it, but wont speak out, seeing you may not have known they would ask you to do something
IQ says nothing about how intelligent someone is, there's people with IQ's of 150, are masters in math etc, but know nothing about how life works, what people feel, think, need, want etc.
However people with an IQ of 100- usually know much less, and tend to be more selfish, rude etc.
It's nature. Evolution. On some point people with an IQ less than 90 will be extremely rare.
it is the paradox of society, unfortunately. those with true intelligence do not claim it, and those without true intelligence 'parade' around their 'superiority' and advanced intellect. nonetheless, they're only fooling themselves, and those who are gullible enough to buy their product (which happens to be more than i'd like to realize)
@likespaintball huge cliched generalisation, while possibly true, lacking evidence in it's nature. perhaps those intelligent people maybe actually want to utilise their brains for the betterment of the human race in what you call "parading around" but maybe not. human = ego. that applies to all. there's is no archetype for the human.
Of course. You know what "real smart people" do? They're the people that seem all normal, but you know what, in their own heads they're actually real smart, they just don't show it, that's all. Your theory all makes sense. I mean, Einstein wasn't smart; they discovered his IQ was quite high, so hey, no way that he's smart, right? Yeah, it all makes sense to me now, thanks.
Well. The stanford-binet test, the first IQ test was created in the beginning of the 20th century.
Bobby fischer had an IQ of 169... yet the Woman with the most IQ, Marilyn von savant isn't mentioned. (IQ of: 228 iq points at the age of 22). This is higher than any of these ''geniuses'' have. But it isn't like testing for high IQ is something scientifically reliable...
Anyone ''claiming to have an high IQ'' is, often the exact opposite. Stupid, ignorant and, not intelligent.
then you clearly have no idea what IQ is then? because you need about 50 (well din't remember) to open a door. And i bet you can so you've got to have more than 50 at least...
These are only speculations and postulations. Also realize that being intelligent has nothing to do with achievements, the greatest are not the samrtest rather the curious and the flamboyant thinkers. The greatest intellectual of a time, Isaac newton, really wasn't much of a Genius. Though not much of a Genius he was the greatest scientist, intellectual, person who best understood things, and the second most influential man in history.
The Stanford Binet test was the first iq test. It wasnt developed until the early 20th century, with the exception of wittgenstein and fischer, these people were all dead when it was first used. They were brilliant no doubt, but where did these exact iq scores come from?
This has only 485 views. How can you compare a more modern genius to a past one? Does this graph take into account how much time goes by between each individual?
now the top is indian 11 year old girl iq level 225 , pls encourage her

IQ is measured by guess work from hindsight.
Most of these people had to the opportunity to pursue their interests. They didn't have to work in places like K-Mart to support themselves.
Even some of the people who post here could be a top ten of something if they had the opportunity and resources to pursue their interests.
"Genius" is often due to circumstance, not "intelligence"
This video merely depicts the hero worship common in our society/culture.

how much energy does it take to support a group of people divorced from the earth...
there was strong incentive during the cold war to colonize the moon (untouchable missile bases)
Longterm thinking:-
[1] keep population lower,
[2] put the saved resources into space research (lower pop = more resource for that)
[3] only allow pop boom to resume IN space.
think "Silent Running" reversed... preserve earth (origin of life) & humans who want to multiply can be exiled in space :)

Fuck IQs. Though I have 148.
