  • Actually, they were named for the Grand TRUNK Railroad, but replaced the word FUNK for obvious reasons. Best Michigan born-and-bred band ever.

  • Impresionante!!!! Banda, ¿exíste e pluribus funk...en vivo?

  • Kennedy's death was the downfall of this country! Mark is not talking about George Wallace! He's talking about someone who can withstand the corruption of money! Fighting is a word that causes big men to get rich! There's money in this war and peace now aint this a bitch!!

  • great great great! i love GF

  • Mel Sachicer was the Basist Mark played lead Don Brewer, Drums The band was named after thGrand Funk Railroad out of Flint Mich.

  • @MsSuzeque It´s Mel Schacher :) .

  • great description

  • Yeah, I had this album back in the 70s. I remember the round cover. Album covers then were a part of the experience. look at some of the others like hellbound train by Savoy Brown, King Crimson, and others

  • Love the energy in this song: drums, beat, etc. Was in the army during the Vietnam War but never was much interested in the lyrics, ironically, then or now. Man, I just dig the beat.

  • Ladies and Gentlemen this is the True Rock&Roll Soul!!!!Mark farner &Don Brown.

  • @pervac07 its don brewer

  • WHY does the info on this vid say it's a sledgehammer riff highliighted by Farner's driving guitar?! If the bass isn't the highlight, then WHAT THE FUCK.

  • @basslover171 bass player....very good in every song

  • I have awesome, super bassy headphones. Needless to say, my ears, my headphones and this bass riff just had an incredible threesome.

  • i couldnt put it better than the lady in pink

  • Back in the day of albums, E. Pluribus Funk was marketed with a round coin-shaped album cover

  • estoy se acuerdo que es el mejor albùm de GFR. "e pluribus funk"

  • Sly Stone and George Clinton probably kicked themselves for not coming up with this funky jam first!

  • Amazing band I've just discovered.

  • hi! check and share SFONX "Breaking Rocks" video on youtube

  • "War" we are the police of the world, and when we're no longer a power, WHO's Going to help[ us, were being Sold Out,

  • @armandaniels You´re no police of the world ... you´re the terrorists and tyrans of this world!

  • @hannesontour How many yrs did you serve I'm still serving?

  • @hannesontour Dude, your from GERMANY and your gonna throw fucking stones in glass houses??

  • @HOTROD74GremlinX Hey man I´m really thinking about givin up my german citizenship. The German state is thinking as comercial as USA, too. Does anybody will want peace, if you can earn money and even still your paranoid mind? Yes !! ... Maybe you and I ... music is our political platform

  • Makes me think of lying in my room with my eight track cranked up n the windows open...I owned the world listening to this music....Thanks GFR...

  • That bass is insane :)

  • PEACE NOW!

  • @totowolf2011 - No hablo Espanol - Tengo 53 anos. Usted es mi amigo! Sorry my Spanish is not better - Muchas Gracias Mi Amigo for your reply! GRAND FUNK RAILROAD -- "The People's BAND"! Ed in Sacramento, California U.S.A,

  • oooooooooooooooppppppppppppppppppssssssssssss.

  • PUTA MADRE ,SEXO ,DROGA Y ROCK N ROLL, LARAGA VIDA AL ROCK

  • Thanks for uploading this great song. The verse you mention must of had McGovern in mind, who ran for Pres. that yr. As usual, their social commentary is right -on. Funny how the truth never ages!

  • And now there is Libya.. it just goes on and on.. :( People let's stop the war!

  • it's classic!

  • uhuuu somzeraaaaa!!!

  • Now here this, you American idiots..., GFR sang 40 these words years ago.

"..If we had a President that did just what he said,

The country would be just alright and no one would be dead,

From fighting in a war that causes big men to get rich,

There's money in them war machines, now..., ain't this a bitch."

"...I been excited, ain't nobody ready, they don't know what to get ready for"

Since Pres. Johnson up till now, i.e. Obama.., America knows nothing but making WAR. Stop The War...!

  • only two warmongering music haters? hmmmm... must be Bush/Cheney

  • @prober45 its obamas war machine now,he restarted afghanistan and now libya.

  • My favorite song off this album & the lyrics still apply to this day.

  • The 0BAMA-BIDEN DEATH MACHINE KEEPS A' ROLLIN'...WHEN ARE WE THE PEOPLE GONNA STOP TAKIN' SHIT!

  • @zombie2wo

has everyone forgotten that george bush started killing with his propaganda war about weapons of mass destruction in iraq (which we could never seem to find). and for those who have forgotten, the war in afghanistan(also started by bush, and rightfully so) was started to root out the taliban which had given sanctuary to al-queda even before they put planes into both of the twin towers and the pentagon. how quickly we forget in order to blame someone we don't like

  • АТОМ !

  • fuck yeah!!! rock and roll....

  • "if we had a president that did just what he said" for sure!

  • E Pluribus Funk is the best album by Grand Funk!!

  • Sly Stone probably kicks himself every day that he didn't come up with song first!

  • A Cool Grand Funk Album , Before they turned pop !

  • Mark - Don - Mel ... accept no substitute.

  • THE BASS TONE FREAKIN REDICULOUSSSS!

  • @PhillyGregA West amps rule.

  • Amazing band I've just discovered.

Hey, this one is even known in France!

Well, at least, I've already heard it somewhere else than on YouTube...

  • One of the coolest tunes about the ugliest subject.

  • If you think that this country is for the people, by the people, you are dead wrong. The fat cats in Washington killed the last real president we had, that mother fuckin johnson. Every president since Kennedy was nothing but a puppet including Obama. Rise up people and take back what is ours. If they want war, lets give it to them. I know I'm sick of this bullshit tyrannical Government!!!!!

  • @ladyluvspink Down with the false prophets

  • @ladyluvspink True fuckin shit. I hate how people argue democratic or republican when it's really all the same evil thing. Remember people, revolution is our god given right.

  • @ladyluvspink Is Romney going to be another puppet?

  • Awesome!!

    Grandma mary

  • i disagree with the description above. " what does it take to make you understand the value of a man?" is an awesome and heavy lyric and even if the quote, "if the president did what he said the country would be alright.." came from george wallace, he was telling the truth. nixion did not do what he said he would do. nixon said he would withdraw the troops but did the opposite.

  • THE BEST ROCK AND ROLL BAND IN THE WORLD.

  • thats a nostalgy-beatiful...there were time of love and sex forever...thanks me to be there...

  • rauol this song is one of the best I start listening since i was 13 years old is great i was born to rock n roll

  • great song - excellent !!!!

  • My pop would crank Grand Funk when I was a kid. Talk about some raw rock n roll! This is when rock was real! Born a few years too late I guess. MARK, DON and MEL ROCK!!!

  • Buenazo de mi epoca los 70`s

  • enorme!

  • ขอบคุณมากสหาย

  • The message was right then as it is now. My war was based on a lie just like this one was. (mushroom cloud) Lets just send all the patriotic men & women off to die in the middle east, or worse yet TBI. I hired the "new boss" to stop the war in Iraq but he gave the generals and Halliburton their wet dream in Afghanistan. Money for all the Dick Cheny's in this country.

On a better note; GFR was great and I dig all the albums, especially Closer to Home.

  • People let´s Stop the Hypocrisy. GFR on the Rock'n'Roll Hall Of Fame Now!!!!!!!!!!

  • What a classic. Sang by an american band. And the american people still don't understand.

  • STILL tyrin to stop a war

  • The thing that amazes me is that all that music comes from 3 guys. One of the best rock bands of all time.

  • @deemat555 Agree completely. GRAND FUNK RAILROAD - The Premiere American POWER TRIO. LOUDER THAN THE WHO. HEAVIER THAN CREAM. I like both of those bands I just mentioned. It's just that people who really know music, know Grand Funk Railroad out of Flint, Michigan U.S.A. ROCKED and rocked hard. Plus they wrote the majority of their own music with Brother MARK FARNER. I was there then, I remember when Grand Funk Railroad hit the scene in early 1969. I've been a fan ever since.

  • que gran cancion de aquellos tiempos en que al guerra usa vietnam estaba en su apogeo

  • goosebumps - one of my all time faves - bass at the beginning - over the top - the whole thing = grassroots classic rock

  • I was a lass of merely 14 when this came out. I felt it then and still believe to today. WOW!

    PEACE!!!

    WoodStockGranny

  • I'm still amazed how relavent GFRR is after all these years...we haven't changed a thing have we? Hope is still saying stop the war! Peace is saying stop the war! And war is saying stop the war!! I've gotta go listen to more GFRR STOP THE WAR!

  • @BlessedinVT

"I've gotta go listen to more GFRR STOP THE WAR! "

    I'm helping from here too.

  • @HengistTheGreat ssssssssssssssssssssssuuuuuuuuuuuuuuppppppppppppppeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

  • rogaremos a los dioses para que vengan al peru

  • This is so strange that after all these years...we have such a pertinant song to hold up as a banner!!!! Whatever happened to peaceful protest??? I HATE that i'm old enuf to see history repeating itself! .People, let's get together! every body!

  • Even tho we don't get to see the band on this, vid,,,, how awesome!!! the lyrics & the wah!!! Thanks grf! Still pertinent (unfortunately) after all this time!!!

  • como no recordar ese long play mis hermanos lo tocaban seguido y me parecia raro ver un lp de estuche circular que tienpos de los 70 numca volveran cada vez que escucho algunos temas me hace retroceder el tienpo

  • don't make 'em as good as this anymore ...

  • That album cover is epic. Must be one of the most original ever. Grand Funk: My first rock idols. I was in tears when I saw them at the Beacon Theatre, here in NYC, some years back for the reunion. And I'm a manly man.

  • How you doing? I remember my younger brother picking up this one I had ordered from the record store back in the late 70's. He told me the record guy came back to the counter with a look of reverence on his face. Everybody in the store was looking at it. I couldn't believe it when he gave it to me. And the music! A great time in my life.

  • Yeah is funny how a band's music becomes the soundtrack of your live. And is usually when you're young that most shit happens, and then you remember: "I was listening to this song when that happened..!" And I've realized now, Grand Funk music was fucking always been played in the background..LOL.. I just read your other comment in another video, about your "pool job", very funny...Cheers

  • no shit... definitely one of my soundtracks...weren't we lucky to come up in such a groovy time instead of now!!??! I worry for the kids today! Hope they listen when we try to "teach the children well".

  • @kbaugherful Im 29, and Ive gotta say, it worries me too guys! Even the times I gre up in are better than this. I mean, I dont have kids yet, so I dont know, but it looks like all they have is videogames, computers, bad movies and horrible music. As in NO substance! everything these days seems so fake and generic...on the flip side, you give a younger person something good to listen to or watch and they love it. Theres where the hope lies.

  • me too... similar story. good times, huh?

  • yeah. growin' up in the 70's, i wouldn't trade for anything. an incredible time. the music being born was so much in abundance and creativity. and i agree very much with what you said about the children of today. some of the stuff they're listening to today, is worrisome to me.

  • The introduction of the bass is amazing,

    great classic, great band.....

  • this wah-wah makes me horny!!!

  • Love the dreamy way this one starts out--then kicks in all of a sudden. Will die with this one all over my soul.

  • Great Music, Great Talent, Great Memories...

Before war was drafting, today war is a choice...

OBAMA send your daughter to Iraque proving to the world you are NOT just like the old farts fighting again for kids to die...

    PEACE !

  • The Best Band in the World. I wish they would regroup..no Mark Farner No Grandfunk...simple...

  • HOW ABOUT THE TONE ON THAT BASS!

  • yeah, that was about the time Mel "got down", laid down fatter and funkier bass; i think 1971 began a great stride for him, especially in concert

  • yeah! the BEST album and the best SONG especially the horny bass sector.

  • Um... you do realize Mark Farner's a Christian, right?

  • This was their BEST album-

Mel really stood out and the tunes

had real meaning.all around a fantastic

    raw yet tasteful album

  • incredible i never thought to hear this Sound since 1973

in those days I smoked my first high-school diploma

  • Maybe a few people responding on this video should hear it's message and \' stop the war... even at this level!!!!!!

  • great bands

  • every mans voice is the voice of generations

  • SPEAK ENGLISH..THIS IS AMERICA,RESPECT IT AS YOU EXPECT ME TO RESPECT YOU COUNTRY.I AM NOT GOING TO LEARN YOUR LANGUAGE IN MY COUNTRY.Oh and FUCK our useless government.

  • koolbossjock: you seem to forget that the internet and YouTube are international....why are you so upset that people write in their native language? Maybe because you don't know any other languages and probably don't even have a proper command of the English language. My native language is Spanish but when I came to the U.S. I learned English and then proceeded to learn French and Italian...education is a beautiful thing...you should try it...open your eyes....and heart...we are one planet

  • Peace brother

  • You know SHIT about my education. I am sick of imigrants comming over here and expecting us to learn their language.Maybe if you had to live in mexifornia aka what used to be california you might have a different opinion.Even the good mexicans that live here and speak english and obey the law are Sick of it as well. Now go take another french class.Look above..What does it say?? ENGLISH.

  • Hey you Hillbilly Redneck Inbred piece of shit. Who said he is even in the United States. You are to stupid to realize that there are people that live outside the U.S.

Before writing dumb shit online then why don't you tell us what ginnorenzo said.

    Stupid fucking inbred

  • Kool~Peace for God's sake!!!

  • well if your not gunna learn his language why should he waste his time on your language? dumb fuckin dick head.

  • damn! this be a kickass number!!

  • Its funny how these lyrics are ringing true once again almost 40 years later. We need to stop the killing of our sons and daughters once and for all.I know for sure GFR never expected this shit.

  • Amen!

  • que buenisima cancion sin duda una de mis faboritas .......... lets get better stop the war..............

  • E pluribis Funk now your talking great music

  • if you can find it this is one of the funks absolute best albums, dont know if it is released on cd though

  • Qué buena guitarra, con el efecto "Wa-Wa" Mark le dá una tremenda fuerza rocanrollera a la guitarra.

A la mierda con Bush y la guerra.

  • Acayetan: THE LYRICS YOU REFER TO ARE ABOUT RICHARD NIXON WHO PROMISED TO GET THE US OUT OF VIETNAM DURING THE 1968 AND 1972 ELECTIONS.

  • to all political leaders, you must listen to this song. stop the war!

  • Yes, I thought the "wonderful" Obama promised he was gonna stop it all instantly??? Sounds like he wants to expand it into Lebanon and Pakistan now? and I don't hear anything about troop withdrawal anymore. That freaking lying phony useless &*#@er.

  • Dude,,,,,he's only a quarter &*#@er !! Must be something else.

  • Nah, that's what it is even though only a quarter. LOL!!! Just kidding. Actually that wasn't the word I had in mind when I wrote that. What I was calling him started with F and ended in ucker.

  • Love this albun!!

    huhu

    rox!

  • From the L.P "The Dollar" 1,970....., songs as Footstompin' Music, Loneliness, Heartbreaker,etc... the only L.P!!!!....

  • I think this is GFR's finest moment, a jam that ranks up there with the best anti-war songs. The fact that these guys come from the heartland of the U.S. just gives it that much more soul and power. Bravo.

  • The G-Funk song that P-Funk WISHED they'd written!

Mel Schacher at his "Bootsy Collins" best!

  • please listen al lthe world this song, thanks

  • i need these bass tabs...

  • i use to think he says, people dressed up for war,

    which sounds kinda cool too

  • "There's money in those war machines." - Mark Farner

  • People let's stop the war..........what a concept!!

  • Mel's bass playing gives me a boner........

  • LMAO !! i know exactly what you mean. that bass riff hits you right down to your sneakers GFR rules!

  • Someone please put up "I Come Tumbling" off the E. Pluribus Funk album. There is not one up on YouTube! Thanks.

  • Wow, one of my favorites. If you just want the music... no problem. I'll get here or send it to you. Great call.

  • awesome song bro

  • in 1973 or 74 when hearing this music for the very first time i was 14 or 15 years old and didn't think about the meaning of the lyrics very much. But true, it's even more relevant today. Great music from the great 70's !

    Cheers.

  • Mark Farner's words ring true even more today than ever.

  • this is music for 2008 not 72' if you get me. it's relevant today all across the world.

  • Maybe you are right, but only if you don't only look at America's war on terror. We are not the only nation who wars, like most people tend to think. Or are led to believe, or society wants you to believe.

  • one of my favourite songs ! when I listened to this album for the first time... I said... no... it couldn't be possible... LOL... thank you Mark for your music

  • funk ya !!!!

  • Many people should hear this song...

  • JorgeAmarull: You are absolutely CORRECT!!! If each of us sent this to everyone we have on our list, that would get the song out. They would listen and realize, they should pass it on too. The song might be 30 years old, but it sure as HELL is needed RIGHT NOW!!!! VOTE EVERYONE, IT COULD BE THE MOST IMPORTANT DECISION OF YOUR LIFETIME. PEACE!!

  • -gr8,great... many people needs 2 hear this song... a real classic!!! let's stop the hypocrisy... (from Brazil)

  • Stop the war, so communist North Vietnam can win!!! ...can't hide the truth from everyone. Jane Fonda has oceans of blood on her hands. There is nothing peaceful about her. She was a radical militant rooting for a blood-thirsty aggressor. Peace, love, and total dominance at all cost. The true meaning of left-wing peace... total left-wing dominance.

  • dude does anyone know where i can find the bass tabs for this song? I love it so much, my favorite GFR song...

  • lu5do:Sorry, man. I am going to have to set a good example here. As much as I want to be bad, I am just going to say that I don't know. I even Googled it and everything for you. I am already living in shame anyway, so I won't make my life worse. I have to start packing soon anyway because I am being banished from society, going to a deserted island where it will only be Me and My Music.

I have been banished because..........Oh, I just can't say. But, try a bass tabs store, they might know. :)

  • Hey, I will go be banished with you and the music. I can sing like a rock and roll angel with soul. You would love that shit on your island! Also, we could plant as much mary joseph (marijuana) as we wanted to. I was already deciding to banish myself from society, anyway. Hahah.

Hit me up when you find your island.
