The other thing i didn't get about the horror montage was the appearence of 'The Silence Of The Lambs', especially after it was announced that the last oscar success for the horror genre was with 'The Exorcist' back in '73 was it?
It (and others) contained moments of horror even if overall it wasn't a "horror film"... rightly they should have called it a tribute to horror films & moments of horror.
It would've been nice to have seen other actors and actresses in their early horror roles... I'm thinking Geroge Clooney in Return To Horror High.
*Laughs at GEOrge Clooney in Return To Horror High*
Damn! Forgot Kathy Bates for Misery as well....but yeahh...halfabeet, you're quite spot on there.
Forgot to mention how much i loved the Dr.'s impression of Kristen Stewart as well. I actually made a weak attempt at impersonating her in university today in similar fashion to the great mans.
@DrSplicer As odd as that looked on stage, I thought it was very reminiscent of the scene in the film where they drunkenly punch one another in the chest.
Haha, funny commentary, Mark. And pretty spot-on, I have to say.
I know he doesn't read the comments here, but I wonder what Kermode thinks of those annoying ten-minute presentations of the acting awards. The whole show is already a massive pat-on-the-back. Do the actors seriously need another ego boost?
When you win a Best Actor Academy Award maybe you'll see things differently - it's a huge moment for them and many of them are very humble and gracious in their acceptances - if you can't indulge them a little for such a great personal moment then you're being a bit ungracious yourself.
@rockyscorcese, titanic got best picture

@161603 Kate Winslet was nominated for best actress for titanic, therefore it had an acting nomination.

No surprise that Avatar didn't win. Apparently no film has won Best Film without a writing or acting nomination since 1933...
RockyScorcese 2 years ago 6
Really? Even Return of the King? Surely that didn't get any acting / writing noms.

It was up for Best Adapted Screenplay
RockyScorcese 2 years ago
Well, I guess that makes more sense than a best acting nod for Elijah Wood. Thanks for enlightening me.

No problemo- You got me doubting myself there!

it won Best Adapted Screenplay.

I can add that to the list of awards it shouldn't have won, i.e. everything except make up.

Remember Dr. K., no matter how much bank the metaphorical Star Wars makes, there's always Annie Hall.

5 out of 6 is good but it did lose me £100. Ah well. My first bet will be my last then...
