These tribespeople came over to England, for reasons best know unto themselves, and became, the Anglo Saxons. (of course this is a rather simplified version of the events that took place, and the stories of the peoples involved...)

They're alright, musically they're closer to black metal than viking/folk metal. I wouldn't say that forefather or "anglo saxon metal" is musically the same as viking metal though.

Origionally The Saxons (now days netherlands, parts of denmark) invaded Britain when the romans where leaving and became dominant. Saxon blood didnt mix with any of the local blood. Then the danes came 500 years later and almost took over the whole country. After that Im not sure of what happened. Heidevolk is the most truest saxon band : ) listen to Heidevolk - Saksenland.

Actualy Heidevolk are Dutch whitch are diffrent to the anglo-saxons the Dutch took over most of the low countrys about 1000AD. This band is the truest Saxon band as the English are now todays direct deccendents of the Saxons/Angles. By the way Aflred the Grate holted the Danes, then latter King Athelstane took over all of danelaw and untied the all the Germanic tribes in Britiain into one nation the English. Then in 1066 the Normans came and ruined the party but thats a diffrent story.

@2daewoo4u After that King Alfred defeated the Danes and they were living in the area around York.His son and daughter and her husband then forced the Danes to submit to the English rule and they eventually became absorbed into the native bloodstock-all Germanic peoples together.

The history of england is a fascinating one!The celts,saxons,vikings,and the normans all have there ancestry there.However the saxons legacy is the most lasting since the language they spoke became the most dominant.
