I've always been a huge fan, and when I saw you FINALLY uploaded this, I died! Then you sang the ending, and I died again! It was amazing! You're wonderful, and I like that you put your own style on it instead of copying Idina the way tons of other people do. :)
Wow, I just found you, I'm speechless, you bring me to tears, in such a needy ugly world, your beauty and emotion are moving. Thank you for sharing with the world!
first of all let me say your voice not only gave me chills, but your pitch and skill had much more emotion than so many on Broadway.. I pray to God that voices like yours are there for the world to hear! Consider me a HUGE FAN! you have a beautiful amazing voice and i cannot express how much i wish to see you as Elphie very very soon :,)
Elisha, Every song I hear you sing I swear it is the best one. But this one, oh my oh my oh my!!! What a wonderful and difficult song and you hit a grand slam. Absolutely beautiful. You are truly on the same class as any pro and actually better than most of them! Great to see you posting again.
You look like and sound like Adele... You are unreal and I enjoy your singing much liked. Well done. I invite you to join my channel and check out my songs... Elly G
You know, this might be Idina's version, but I really like the color and variety your voice lends to it. Unlike many out here that are often "copies", yours sound decidedly different and VERY good! Yea, so maybe you could "tweak" it here or there but honestly, this is a really, REALLY nice rendition. =)
When it popped up on my YouTube screen that you were singing a song from Wicked, I was so excited! You did an amazing job, and at points it gave me chills :)
Also, tell your microphone that it'll have to sit in the corner if it doesn't cooperate with the computer!
GREAT rendition. I disagree with you - you have a perfect voice for Elphaba/Idina. I can see why you would think that you are more suited for Glinda, but listen to how Idina talk and you'll see that it's a little bit higher and "squeekier" than you would think a belter should have.
@tiredotired :) thanks so much! I just have not found that "sweet spot" quite yet for the mixed belting technique for the end of that song. You can't scream it b/c that sounds ugly, but you can't do it in a light head voice either. I "kinda" got it, but it was a bit shaky and not quite there yet. I just need to keep working on that part of my voice. Thank you again!
@ElishaJordan Yeah, I noticed that. Notes like "So if you care to find me," and most notaly "Bring me down" were in a minor falsetto kind of voice. But the other parts were dead on, and some of the same or even higher notes other places you hit perfectly ("Look towards the western sky,""I'm flying high, deFYing gravity").
Am I right that you mimicked this version off of Idina? I liked the points you highlighted to "talk." I haven't seen every Elphaba, but she seems like the closest.
@tiredotired yeah, this song falls in a bad spot for my voice as far as the ending goes. I would actually be able to do better if it were up a half step because I am able to find that "sweet spot" for higher notes like the ones you were noticing, but the big held notes like "down" and "so if you care" are RIGHT on the break of my voice where it sounds terrible to scream it out, but I haven't quite found the "pingy" place in my mix. I just need to keep working on that spot in my voice
@tiredotired Oh, and I wasn't "trying" to mimick Idina, but she is definitely the one I have heard do it most, so inevitably some of her stylings are going to creep in. I actually made myself listen to as many different Ephabas on youtube that I could find before I recorded this to get some different ideas in my head.
@ElishaJordan I hate when that happens, when there are just a few half notes when your voice hits a raw spot, and you can even hit the edges of your range but a few steps down there is somewhat of a voice in versatility.
Most Elphabas don't "Talk" as much as Idina had (at least that I've seen) and I really miss that - it adds so much intensity, especially in that climactic of a scene.
@xaidasahanya phew I'm glad you liked it. I was very nervous to post this because I know there are a lot of huge fans of the show and this song, and I wasn't sure how they would like it since my voice isn't quite right for the part. Thank you so much and i'm happy you liked it!
@lexxmapa ehh I don't have a lot of theater experience. But I am going to start auditioning for some local stuff to see if I can do it. Thank you for the kind compliment!
This song is in the book Awakened, from the House of Night series, during the death of a character. It will never more be the same for me. I think I'll never more listen to it without feeling touched, and you did a really good job with this song. Thankyou for it...
@Guilherme7530 hi Guilherme. I had no idea about that. Thank you for sharing that with me. It sounds like this song has a lot of meaning for you, and that makes me all the more happy that you thought I handled it ok. TY so much!
@OpponentsOfMeism You are very kind.. thanks so much! I'm not so thrilled with the ending but I didn't want to rerecord just for that. I need to work on that part a bit more anyhow and maybe try it again in the future
Haven't even listened to the son yet (video is still loading), but I know it will be AMAZING. I love this son and I know you did it justice. Keep up the amazing work.
@marneydog haha I dunno about that one. I am thinking of finally trying out for some local theater to get some experience and see if it suits me. Thanks my friend!
@SaintsTears You are very sweet. Thank you so much! And i'll give my video software the credit for the eye comment lol I tried a glowy effect thing that kinda made my eyes look freaky :) ty again!
I thought you were wonderful. lol I started singing along lol and then I realized what you combined defying gravity with a small part from the Wizard and I.
@Trissica Is it a part of the Wizard and I? I'll have to go back and listen to that one. I just kinda followed what Idina does when she sings this song in concert as a solo. Thank you for your kind feedback :))
@100flyingfish Duh! I totally forgot to turn the internet off. I'll have to try that next time. And yeah, it's a USB mic. I'm thinking of trying a different USB mic called the Blue Yetti Pro that is supposed to be really good. I just love the convenience and the sound quality has come a long way on them. I just hope I can get rid of the interference/popping. Thanks so much for the suggestion!
@fleshwoundification Thank you kindly, oh and there is an effect I tried on the video software that is making my eyes kinda "glow" funky so I'll give the program the credit haha
@danefritz2006 :) I love doing duets. I have some on here with a guy named Jason that are audio, but we have never done a video one. We are supposed to do a vid one soon. I'm always game to try if you have song in mind and thank you for listening!
@lilyluvsgreys Thanks for listening, and yes, I may give that a try some time. I have been working on another song that Kristin Chenoweth does called the girl in 14 G that I may do as well. I love Krisitn and how versatile she is!
All i can say is you are TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE!!!!!!! I looooove ur incredible voice!!!!!!!
