The story of the ring is really interesting.

Marlo originally takes it as payment from Old Face Andre and then has it robbed from him when Omar robs his poker match. Omar has it swiped from him when the corrupt officer Walker arrests him on the street. Walker then has it stolen from him when Michael and Namond punk his ass with the yellow paint prank.

To Marlo it looks like Mike took it from Omar; another sign that he is dealing with one badass little motherfucker.
