  • Absolutely fantastic. Lovely tonal quality and a lot lighter in texture. As we have just started the "Poulton Peoples Choir" here in UK I am not sure whether we could emulate your performance, but it is certainly something to aspire to. Keep up the excellent work. Many thanks in appreciation.

  • Fantastic! Your tone production is excellent and the song is one of my favorites, great performance!!

  • You are amazing. My family and I gathered around the fireplace Christmas Eve to sing Christmas using my laptop for a Karaoke machine. My brother introduced your videos to us. All of us are singers so we can appreciate what a talent you have to do all those parts. It is also great to know you are bringing your sons up behind you. Thanks for sharing. God bless you.

  • Absolutely beautiful! Am sharing all you works with my church! God bless you! Merry Christmas...

  • Very buena

  • You have got some talent , awesome baritone , really stands out . Praise god

  • Well done, you warmed the heart of this ex-christian!

  • @lahainatwins If this warmed your heart, perhaps you are not an ex-christian after all. Clearly God is working in your heart - face it. He will always search for you... How long, brother? Will you sadden all of Heaven by with holding your presence there?

Other than that - how great this song is and the performance!

  • @lahainatwins likewise! :)

  • As an added comment, I've heard and sung this song before, but never in this style. I've always heard it with trumpets, trombones, drums, guitars and all that jazz. Stylistically, I must confess I prefer the upbeat version, but this is still a most excellent version of the song *thumbs up*

  • I'm guessing that the five "dislikes" are either mistakes when people accidentally hit the wrong button, or the person who rated it is bitter about religion and doesn't care to look beyond the words to consider the skill and passion of the artist (you can disagree with religion without "hating" a beautiful song written under its umbrella).

  • Brilliant! I must learn how you did that

  • absolutely love the ending augmented chords aswell

  • that key change put chills down my spine

  • Astoundingly moving and touching. You have a true gift from God.

  • what recording program do u use?

  • Amazing

  • Thank You, Lord. Thank You, Eternal God the Word for coming into the world as a man named Jesus, to plead guilty to my sin crimes. And when my death penalty was announced (that MY SINS had earned me), You died for me. THAT IS PURE, HOLY LOVE.

And thank You, Lord for giving this man such wonderful talent. And thank You Lord for allowing him to share this talent with us. Blessed Savior, Holy Lord. You are Everything. ~ You are Only God. ~ Hallelujah! ~ What Amazing Love.

  • @Kansasman4Jesus Not to contradict.. But Jesus did not plead guilty to our sins. He took the _punishment_ for our sins but did not say that He _committed_ the sins.

  • Bravo bravo!!! I am completely awestruck. Perfect for my devotion this evening - AMAZING LOVE indeed! God is so good :)

  • congratulations on the great video shoot - Very Helpful!

  • Amazing, as always.

  • I am a barbershopper, have been for many years. This is amazing! What a good blend of all the parts.I know it took a while to lay this one down. I love your work, Vance. Keep it up!

  • thank you. a real blessing.

  • :O *thumbs up* *subscribes*

  • i think im goin to suscribe

  • Hey what effects did you use on this recording? I just started recording acapella (been singing it for years) but mine seem to come out a little thin. I double or tripe every part, add a little reverb and some bass boost, but still comes out thin. Any advice?

  • If you would put out a CD of barbershop gospel songs, I'd buy it!

  • The only unsettling thing about ANY of your arrangements in the nasal sound I seem to notice. Other than that, I LOVE YOUR VOICE, and your musicality. God Bless.

  • love this! You have an amazing voice whoever you are :) God has given you a great talent to share His gospel. God Bless.

  • HI Vance.....excellent video.....could you send me the notes for the song please at shelbymathew@hotmail.com.....thankz.....God Bless you!!!!!

  • I'm really glad you did this. Vocal Spectrum did a wonderful job in arranging this song and you did a wonderful job performing it. It's a really good song for Easter as well as any other time we need our faith restored. As important as was his death, his victory over death in the resurrection. I think that victory was implied in the song, but I wish it were more plainly addressed in the lyrics. Still, no one can deny the impact of this song.

  • Beautiful!

  • Two things: 1st, this song is AMAZING. Wonderful lyrics and melody. 2nd, what types of effects do you use on the audio? Is it just the normal gamut of normalize/compressor/EQ/Reverb? I'm trying to do a little bit of multitracking (not for YouTube) and would really appreciate some tips. Thanks!

  • beautifully harmonized. i absolutely love it!

  • Is this David Perry's brother? If so, he's my band instructor and he told me to look you up on youtube(:

  • beautiful!

  • I am also a vocalist as well as a guitarist, but your attention to detail and your ability are inspiring keep up the good work this is a talent from God thank you for sharing it with us..

  • Has nobody mentioned the autotuning? Really?

  • @Heldenhorner There's no autotuning. If there were autotuning in this song, I wouldn't have heard a pitch problem. I heard a few.

  • What is crazy man. Is when you first start listening to the song your like wow that is good. Then it goes to the chorus and then your like WOW. But when it goes back into quartet you thinking man that was really good! Just awesome!

  • "Amazing Love", and amazing you!!!

wonderful piece, wonderfully sung... great job, Vance (as always)

  • Transfixed. Transported. Thank you for such a worshipful rendition.

  • All of you who think that he uses an auto tuner, you're mistaken. He is flat in certain spots. I would know. I have perfect pitch.

  • Vance, You amaze me! One of my favorite all time Glad songs. I was going through some photos and ran across a picture I took of you sleeping in my front yard one early morning after an all night yard sale I had way back when. Thought of you and looked you up on youtube. This song says it all. Thank you brother!

  • This is my all-time favorite song that Glad ever did. You did a great job with this. I pastor a church in Des Moines, IA and I really appreciate what you have done. Thank you friend!

  • Bravo. I can't say much more than the others, but can't NOT say anything. I still think you need to compile a DVD of these and sell it.

  • I hear some familiar voices in this....perhaps Glad or One Voice is mixed in the background?

  • and my sincerest apologies if not...just have heard this song SO many times with so many various singers/artists that the doubling on the voices make it sound like so many others...but it is still a very beautiful recording!!

  • Can I get this mp3 anywhere? Please, oh please!!! I have GOT to listen to this on my surround sound.

  • This gives me chills at 2:42 O.o I love it!

  • BEAUTIFUL AND AMAZING!

  • Great arrangement!

  • Excellent harmony! The greatest instrument ever designed and created - the human voice.

  • man goosebumbs *-* great singing as every video :)

    greets Christoph :)

  • I love your work my brother, keep it going; great inspiration.

  • "Flawless" is the word my son used. Incredible. The overtones tell me how well you nailed it! From reading a couple posts and replies, it looks like you are a member of the SPEBSQSA, or are affiliated with it somehow. I attended my local chapter until they moved, but was never a member. Keep it up! -dk

  • Bro you are very good! I think you sang it better than GLAD!! Awesome job.

  • well... I must say this.. The blend is 100% excellent! :)

  • Its a beautiful song. Amazing harmonies. Just a little disappointing that its all using some kind of autotune program. But keep up the good work!

  • @vanceperry hello this is very nice thing you have done here on youtube..praise God for that. i would like to know what was needed to make this song happen to put it on youtube like how you did with this song. i mean i got a mic and cam also but now i know i need a Program. do i need and extra sound card? to record on pc directly or did you use a small studio having a mixer , module ect ect ect.. pls refer to me a site or how you did it. i would love to make one to. shannon.g.dejong@hotmail

  • Can't get over the cadences in the tag. I've been singing along to it for the last hour and I'm seriously tempted to do a cover of it but with a low C# on the final note (I've been very poorly recently). Lovely, lovely arrangement and quartet performance.

  • Can I also ask, how many part are in the tag? I'm trying to transcribe it but I'm wondering if there are five parts? The chords blend so well it's not the easiest thing to filter out parts!

  • WOULD LOVE TO SING WITH YOU IN HARMONEY

  • still one of my favourites ....love the harmonies

  • Great song. I think I posted on this video before... great job, my friend. I really enjoy listening to this. Thanks for sharing.

  • Incrível! Como se faz isso? Eu quero a partituta dessa música!

  • Beautiful! It brings tears to my eyes! I love a cappella. I love barbershop. I love songs of praise. What a work of art!

  • beautiful....just beautiful....

  • what arrangement is this?

  • Sounds very nice. Which auto-tune program do you use?

  • Thank you so much for posting this; it's beautiful!

  • Wow, this is amazing! Thank you!

  • amen to that.. To God be the glory... its so nice... what a blessing!

  • I now spend about an hour late at night before bed listening to your AMAZING recordings. It is such an inspirational high. Thank you, thank you.

  • i have listened to this about 20 times in the past 2 days and all i have to say is....wow.... this is possibly the most beautiful acapella arrangement i have ever heard! i use to sing in a quartet and i lead singing at church all the time.. but i don't think i have ever been this emotional towards a song in my entire life. thank you 500 times over for posting this. i have ordered the sheet music and am reuniting the quartet..... simply amazing!!!

  • woah! ye all look the same!

  • Dude ..........thats so sweet!!

  • Mate,...touchdown... love it. You are a great muso.

  • A tuxedo, Main Man, a tuxedo. And a more austere backdrop. But your vocal quality is top grade. Only other group I have heard do this rendition as well is Glad.

  • I envy you so much because I never knew about Barbershop until I saw the Music Man and have loved it ever since. My school is doing a production of it and I made it into the Barbershop Quartet in the play and more that likely I'll be the bass. My problem is that I have trouble picking out the bass because I'm so used to singing bass on church hymns that I can't hear Barbershop bass because it blends so well. Luckily we might get a berbershop quartet to come out and teach us. YAY!!!

  • Has anyone done a barbershop version of "Have I Told You Lately that I Love You?"

  • Great arrangement of the song, isn't it?

  • Amazing! A one man choir! Love it!

  • Awsome! =)

  • Sry to post yet again...did you use the adapted sheet music or the studio series chart? Yes...that makes a HUGE difference. I love your work on this. 35 TRACKS?!! How many days were you working on it (assuming you made 1 mistake every 6-9 recordings(we all get to the point where we know it so well we're lazy) and had to restart)?

  • It took about a day to record. Not much more than that. For the quartet portions of the song, I tried to nail each part which probably took more time than recording the chorus part. For the chorus part, there are many mistakes, which yes, I was too lazy to re-record. I did one takes on each of the chorus parts.

  • @vanceperry There is a Romanian language version of this I just ran across by a vocal group called Grupul Sens. Look up Grupul Sens and O Har Divin

  • Sry to post twice. What does it mean to be a BHS tenor? Would it have killed you to post where you got the sheet music in the vid description? That's such a stab. VS fan too. Anyway, can someone send me link to get the sheet music from?

  • BHS = Barbershop Harmony Society. I am suprised you didn't know that if you are a truly a VS fan.

Yes, I would have died if I put where I got the sheet music in the description. glad-pro(dot)com.

  • @vanceperry My 1st year barbershopping. The 1st tag I learned was What Child is This (VS version) I assumed BHS was some really technical musical term I had yet to learn. Like if you ask a general person, they don't know what culuratura(probably butchered the spelling) means. Btw, any tips for projecting the really low bass notes like Gb, F, and E? I noticed your bass almost disappears at 3:57-4:00. Was that just balance editting, or did you finally find a note you couldn't hit? Love ur range.

  • 3:57 is only an F#. It's not that low. It is about as loud as I wanted it. There are lower notes in the remainder of the song that are lower and louder. In my Let The Words video, I hit a low C, but it was very much amplified in editing. A low D is about as low as I can go comfortably.

  • @vanceperry It's not an F#, it's an F, and you hit a low E.

  • @vanceperry

"Yes, I would have died if I put where I got the sheet music..." HAHA!!!

  • @vanceperry Actually this arrangement is done and sung by the acapella group Glad (hence the name of the site.) ;) Check them out, they're great!

  • Do you have sheet music or know where to get it? Please, I beg for the aresources to perform this!!!

  • I must say, I listen to this video all the time, and i notice more things about this video that i like. I hear so many overtones throughout this piece that it are just incredible. I still get chills every time when you break out into the third verse with the chorus effect. Thank you for touching my life with your music ministry. God Bless.

  • Great lower tones! Did you use any effects? Any pitch correct?

  • This is beautifully done, bravo vanceperry! One comment though - please sing Charles Wesley's original words - you will find it much richer and truer to it's poetry.

  • That was very good. I love the arrangement. (Glad's) Could you share a music sheet? :) Praise God.

  • That used to be my favorite song of all time! Thanks!! And wonderful job!

  • It IS an amazing version of the song, isn't it? It was a very pleasant surprise when I ordered the CD because the track wasn't listed when I bought it.

Love, Hope, Peace, & Christ Is With Us All,

    Cal-el

  • One of Glad's best arraingments outside of their Gershwin CD (which you should attempt a song from)

  • It's not often that listening to a song at home has brought tears to my eyes, this actually is a first. Keep up the good work Vance. God bless.

  • Amazing love....amazing video...amazing voice!

    Love it!

  • Vance, this is my favorite of your videos! Great to meet you at the VNA this week!!

  • i dont think i have heard such a beautiful barbershop quartet song

  • Wow. This is just, amazing. You've really inspired me both musically and spiritually. Thank you :)

  • It doesn't get any better than this...Christian songs sung the Barbershop way!

  • I'm applauding at my computer right now! Hope you can hear it!!! :]

  • Glad Acapella is one of my all-time favorite albums. Tight, pleasant harmonies that are spot on. Vance, you did a fantastic job with this one. It is my favorite one you have done so far. Thank you for sharing with us!

  • Really?? He does all of that and all you can do is criticize him? Shame on you.

I think this is great, Vance! Very moving!!

  • @cw82352 he may be doing it intentionally to produce a brighter sound

  • I don't like the religious aspect, but this is really fantastic. Fantastic harmony. Just WOW!

  • @DeadlyPastryMan

First time i heard it i thought the lyrics were about some love of his life who died for him, and it was the most beautiful song i'd ever heard.

Then I realised it was a song of praise, but it's still great music that's sung fantastically.

  • Calumhm, it is about a love of his life that died for him. That is why he sings this praise song with such conviction.

  • @calumhm "but"? Why is it a disappointment to you that this is a song of praise? As jvangeld said, this would not be nearly so touching if it weren't sung with the feeling of someone who believes what he's singing.

  • @jmobo93

A very good point. To be blunt I dislike most of the Theologan religions, and not being a believer myself I can't really relate to the love of god - but I can relate to love and that's why the song is still one of my favourites for both it's music and it's message (in the sense of not just the lyrics, but the way the music brings out the feelings of the lyrics)

  • wow im a singer myself an this is just.............wow very nice job

  • This is beautiful. I got a bit teary-eyed.

  • Amazing music. Don't care for the lyrics since it's religious, but the music is AWESOME!!

  • autotune? or awesomeness!!

  • AHHH i remember this..

    Glad right?

  • I laughed out loud, I smiled, I wished that I could sing with you through the whole 4:40 minutes!! My wife came in and wanted to know what was soooo funny. NOT FUNNY, seriously entertaining! I too love to sing. I only wish that I had the "know-how" and the equipment to make THAT kind of sound without depending on someone else! Hey Vance, ever get aroud Williamsburg Va. PLEASE, give me a call!!! Love to sing, AND laugh!

  • where can I get sheet music?

  • glad-pro(dot)com

  • wow is this goy the voice of god? honestly your amazing reminded me of so many things with this song

  • Let me be frank: I'm not religious. I have some serious problems with religion; some things don't add up at all for me.

But your rendition of this song is so well done that I now have asked my other non-religious friends to do this in a quartet with me.

    Good job!

  • good for you!

religion is bad, its faith you should strive for.

  • bloody hell! you allmost made me religious right there! Briliant and beautiful

  • awesome dude =)

  • Love the way you multi-multi-multi tracked yourself for the chorus part. Great job Vance!

  • Great story with this song, man. I'm a big Vocal Spectrum (and Tim Waurick in particular) fan myself... but isn't everybody? They are undeniably the best quartet ever.

I can't believe how close your sound got to the original!! The Chorus part completely blew me away man! This is by far one of your best projects online. Breath taking!

  • Amazing...better than the original. Truely...When I first heard Glad sing this, It was PROOF, to me, of divine inspiration. You have rekindled that feeling for me.

  • Really brilliant!! thanks for doing this.

  • simply put this is amazing

  • this piece is so nice, i love all the suspensions, got tingles man! its also nice to see sum christian related songs on youtube. great job!

  • WOW !........Thank you

  • truly inspired

  • No need to mention the quality of your work for it speaks for itself. Instead, I just wanted to let you know what a blessing you've been to me here in the middle of the night. Unable to sleep... wrestling with the Lord about some things in my life... and I come here to find this wonderful song that led my soul right to the Throneroom of Heaven to worship at the Feet of the Lord. Thank you for your ministry of music here to me and I pray the Lord will bless you for your work, brother.

  • Hang in there, Brother. I am glad the Lord led you here. I'll pray for you.

  • Hey, thanks much! Not sure if you have heard of this group but I would love to hear you sing this song that is elsewhere on Youtube by a group called the Kings Singers. "Down To The River To Pray". Recruit one of the great tenors within your circle of multi taggers for the high part. Like Tim Waurick! :)

  • What recording software did you use? That was so beautifully crafted.

  • Thank you very much! I use mixcraft for the audio and Sony Vegas Pro for the video. Thanks for listening!!

  • Holy Harmony!!! Do you know you sound like GLAD, the original artists?

  • you are amazing at what you do! It gives a new inspiration to singers, especially ones who want to sing in barbershops/girl arrangened groups like me :) Thank you for making these awesome videos, I love listening to them! :]

  • I wish i could do this. But i have absolutely no idea how lol. Do you have to use a Mac to use this?

  • !!! 1:15 It takes an amazing ear to sing a part that contains a dissonance such as a m9 or M7 below the chords like that bass part did. Perfectly in tune!

Btw, nice reverb. Is it a program such as Altiverb or a built in reverb?

  • Vance hunny that was absolutely AWESOME!!!!!! I love barbershop as it is..I've heard that song but wasnt fully sure of the artist [thought it was 4HIM that did it actually]...keep at it man!!!

  • Hey Vance... this is great. I really love this arrangement. Thanks for working on this song for us to enjoy. It inspires me to want to make some of my own multitracks!

  • Very very good. I enjoyed it so much.

  • wow! bro amazing....u really have a great gift...bless u bro

  • Vance are you related in any way to Lou Perry? great job on this beautiful song as always you shine

  • Thanks! No, not related to Lou. :) Thanks for listening!!

  • I love this soooo much!!!xDD

  • This is music... "crys" beautiful... keep up the good work.

  • wow.... im speechless. When you broke into the third verse, i got goosebumbs and teary eyed. that doesnt happen to me very often. thank you for sharing your gift with me. i truely appreciate it. God Bless.

  • wow. I'm so impressed.

  • GREAT JOB! I sing with MUSIC CENTRAL in Oklahoma City and am the tenor for the MALARKEY BROTHERS quartet. I'd like to find out what you used to set up the multitrack recording as I'd like to do some on my own. I've listened to many of the songs you've posted and look forward to hearing more!

  • Dude fantastic voice...God gave you an amazing gift bro! God is looking down smiling at you! Good job :) God Bless!

  • I hope this will go on an album for Itunes

  • very cool - auto tune? what program did u use for video editing? audio?

  • wow - impressive ! - just heavenly ! thanks for sharing this - I have to subscribe ;D ! 5***** for this work - please have a look at my videos too - maybe you will like some of them too - wish you all the best and keep up the good work - best wishes Daniel

  • Speechless! Incredible harmonies and control! I'm a huge fan! Thank you for all your videos!

  • I've been listening to this countless times every single day for the past three weeks or so and still i'm not tired of listening. truely inspirational Vance.

  • Wonderful

  • this is awesome. flat out awesome.

  • Amazing.

  • 2:46 is amazing

  • Goosebumps.... Good stuff. Very lush low range. Very appropriately bright upper range... BRAVO!

  • lol I was waiting for your bass to drop the octave for the last chord.

  • Wow!!

  • oh my gosh I had never heard this, brilliant Vance, brilliant.

  • "And Can it Be" is original from "Glad - The acapella project" CD of GLAD, and not of Vocal Spectrum, they did copy. You should listen Acapella Glad's CDs, it's very good and I'm shure that you will like it.

  • This video that Vance has posted is "as performed by Vocal Spectrum and the Ambassadors of Harmony". He did not say that Vocal Spectrum recorded the song initially, but I doubt if GLAD used a quartet/chorus performance. I'm sure Glad's CD's are very good, but this performance, and that of Vocal Spectrum & AoH, are amazing!

  • And Can it Be is originally a hymn by Wesley with at least six verses

  • AMAZING!!! the whole song but starting min 2:46 I was jaw dropped and got goosebumps hehe very amazing!
