  • another awesome build series thank you. I do have a question when I looked at polish underfolder parts kits they dont have the barrel with the gas block and all the other crap on it how do you install that stuff?

  • @tradbowyer1975

What you need is a kit sold by ak-builder, check out his site. The kits are a little price now, but worth the money if its what you want.

  • Nice series. Do u plan on doing a trigger group vid with tips and tricks? Thanks! Thumbs up!!

  • @aaadream I hadn't planned on it but if you think it would be helpful I could come up with something.

  • @ginsboy2003 I would appreciate it and think it would help others too. Cant find good videos on youtube that give closeups of how to assemble it all and deal with the springs etc. I know there are some tricks to it. Thanks!

  • death by barrel pin, doesn't sound like a good way too go. lol

  • At least you got a nice press mine is made of unistrut and a hydraulic jack i also use two pieces of cut unistrut with two bolts to hold the front trunion while I push the barrel out

  • @gunrunerone

I'll have to make a video showing all my shop tools, my first press was homemade like yours using a 6 ton bottle jack. I still have it, but would like to get rid of it because of the space it takes up. At least your still getting the job done with homemade tools so hats off to ya!!

  • @gunrunerone

At least your getting the job done with homemade tools! That says a lot for your ingenuity. My first press I also made using a 6 ton bottle jack, it barely got the job done.

  • I love your videos I learnt s lot but you need to clean your shop if i had to work in that mes I would go nuts

  • @gunrunerone

You are absolutely right and it does drive me nuts! My problem is a lack of space and thinking I need to save everything because I might need it for a future project haha.

  • +1 WOW!!! Great series of DIY build vids. Wish I had a shop set up like yours.

  • Wow that was great! Really makes me want to give this a shot but I lack the press, rivet gun, and welder... not to mention all of those bucking bars you came up with.... maybe someday I can get into building from parts kits... I'm sure it could be done with the hand tools I have; but it would be a slow and painful process.

I love watching builds come together, you have my sub.

  • This was the best on a build so much so I am ready to build. Thanks for being the teacher.

  • are you working in a weapon factory or something ? because you have alot of skill this

  • @HeavyMetalGurke

No, I have just done a lot of AK builds and have made special tooling to make it easy.

  • I have a polish build and it is very tight front to back on the mag and won't fit a lot of magazines because of this. How can I fix this?

  • @timandvickie2011

You can remove some metal from the rear of the mag well in front of the mag catch. It won't take much and you will be able to fit any steel mag out there.

  • Thanks for the great vids. Ill be starting the same project in a few weeks. What kind of barrel are you using? Im having trouble deciding which one to get.

  • @gonnatell

The barrel that came with this kit is the original barrel. I've heard you can use a virgin romanian barrel for this kit but I don't know. If I was going to use some other barrel I'd first measure the trunnion and the barrel to make sure the sizes were right. You want a .001 to .0015 interference fit. Too much and the trunnion may crack.

  • @ginsboy2003

Thanks for the info. Youre right about the Romy barrel. I just bought one about 10 minutes ago from the APEX website.

  • I want your skills.

  • Great series, you built a nice looking and strong rifle

Well done and thanks for posting these

  • @GunWebsites

Thanks. I think I did a better job than the idiots at AGI did telling people to buck the rivets against the barrel! Thats NOT how they do it at the factory!

  • Love these videos Sir. Just ordered a Bulgarian AK-74 Parts kit from AK-Builder. Gotta call my FFL for the receiver from NODAXSPUD! Great camera work I may add. ~MrSKSkill

  • i used this video for a primer for my first build of a romanian g. thanks for all of the tips. mine is turning out great, with your help.

  • @RHAYES04

I'm glad its helped you and others!

  • @ginsboy2003 i was wondering if theirs any websites out their that i could get a press like that one if you know

  • @TheGuncraze

My press was sold by Homier at one of those traveling chinese tool shows. My Dad got it for me for $200, I didn't like the ones with the 20 ton bottle jack. They don't sell it any more, but if you don't mind the bottle jack type, Harbor freight currently has theirs on sale for $199 and if you use a 20% off coupon you could get it for $169 before tax.

  • You can tell this isn't your first rodeo.

  • Excellent vids. Sub'd

  • great video thank you.

  • love the vedios and the rifle. i got one but i got mine allready made, just a side note on the 922(r) thats for a licensed company that sales firearms like century arms. they bring in parts kits and make guns for sale to the public. you as a private person as long as you dont sale said gun 922 will not matter. i could be wrong but i read ATFE's guide book on laws, nfa, and the like. but hay its cool

  • @gpuckit Actually, 922r and all the NFA regs. apply to all of us. That's why Tapco and other companies have been making a killing over the years selling their US made parts to guys like us. You can check out all regs. on the ATF.gov website. Whenever I've helped a guy build a AK, I've printed out a copy of the reg. for them, as well as the legality of home builds. Glad you like the vids, have fun at the range!

  • Is it possible to drill the holes in the receiver for the front trunnion without removing the barrel? I don't have a press :(

  • @FCdrftr

Its possible, but your not going to be able to put rivets in them. You'd have to use screws.

  • @ginsboy2003

For what it's worth, I did see an AGI video on a AK build where they used the barrel (already pressed in) as a bucking bar for the front trunnion.

Great videos by the way... really appreciate that you're putting these out there.

  • @easyco99

I have experience riveting for a living and can tell you that only an idiot would do that. The rivet cannot think and doesn't know which side to form a tail on. Its a matter of physics pure and simple. I can't believe AGI showed that, that is very amateurish at best. It may stay together for a while if done like that, but it won't last.

  • @easyco99 I just watched that video, what a of idiot, unbelievable. That guy has no idea of the purpose behind riveting. You want it to have shear strength as well as tension. He obviously has no experience with aircraft or ship building. I don't think Mr. Kalishnikov would let him near a AK lol. Maybe he has "smart" steel rivets that know not to harden before getting through the trunnion and form a tail on the inside haha. I guess they will stay in even if bent over.

  • @ginsboy2003 yeah - i was wondering about that... thanx for the clarification...

  • @easyco99 I guess because its an AGI video they want people to assume its the "right" way to do it. I've lost all respect for AGI. The first time the fat old goat tripped and fell, he'd pop out those front trunnion rivets.

  • the rivet gun was a great idea your build looked nice it took me six builds to get my aks to look that nice where did you get the rivet gun and how did you modifie the rivet heads thanks from ana firearms new company

  • @taylorzack78

I got the rivet gun from an aircraft tool supply company. The rivet set that goes in the gun I modified using a ball end mill, then I re-heat treated the tip of the set so it wouldn't deform.

  • man youve got a lot of ammo stacked up next to that press!

  • @i7q

Just a little 8mm haha. I bought a lot when it was way cheaper. I remember the days when yugo 8mm was $45 for 900 rnds. Now its around $300.

  • Dude this was a great build. Thank you so much for taking the time to record the process. I know it can be a pain to try to build and record at the same time but you pull it off nicely. Did you make the attachment on the press to push your rivets in?

  • @spinesales

Glad you enjoyed the video. I made all the attachments for the press including the ones to push the pins in and out. They make the job much easier. The rivets are a loose fit in all locations before I shoot them. Some people use the press to form their rivets, but I don't.

  • @ginsboy2003 All I can say is "awesome just awesome"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • can you adopt me?

  • Glad you guys like the videos. I hope they are helpful to you.

  • i love these video nice work

  • Beautiful workmanship and a beautiful gun! Thank you for making these videos!

    Thumbs way up!
