they should be glad they have something of lasting value that they can hand down to their kids at all. The average corporate worker can't do that, and if he manages to move up in the company, then all he has to pass down is money which more often than not is irresponsibly spent with nothing lasting to show for it.
It's incredibly discouraging to hear them talk about how hard it is to "start a farm" when they already have a farm and need to work the land... How the hell does average Joe become a farmer these days, become a millionaire first then spend it all to buy a farm so you can work constantly and make less money?
@Challegend i aint sure how to start from scratch. i aint got land, i aint got combines and trucks, i aint got nothin. but its what id like to do. so im 15 ill think of somethin!
@123thunderhorse I'm 15 as well we live on 5 acres and Im starting this summer. Start with hay. Gotta have a little cash but if you lease some land and are good at savin money youll be just fine. worked on a small farm down the road and cant stand to not farm
Farmers will take the place of wall street brokers. The tables will soon turn when farming will be a booming industry. Google Jim Rogers and his thoughts on the topic.
I wish society would support farmers a lot more. Without them we would starve. Good luck to this guy, hope he gets all wants and not only that, but that he is happy and extremely financially successful. He certainly seems to be working at it and seems to deserve it :)
when a welfare recipient is told they have to work, they call their congressman. When a farmer is told he can no longer work they commit suicide. May God have mercy on our society!
makes me furious that some one cant make a living as just a farmer anymore! you have to have an off farm job, why would anyone want to farm if on top of 24/7 farming, you have to do addittional jobs, I am in the same spot as this guy, and it makes no sense that we should have to do this!
@dougiedracula I know it is crazy!! But I do it every day and if that is what it takes to get into farming then so be it. We've handled challenges before we can handle this!
@CNHfarmers hey man, just wanted to kinda say thanks for the positive vibes... its what i needed lol! so what kinda operation do you have? I'm a cash cropper from southern Quebec(the last lil english part) Canada
@dougiedracula At least this guy was raised on a farm. me,I was raised around them but it's tough starting from scratch out there. I gotta get another job to pay for a farm that I rent/build and gotta work both.Well...not yet but I will anyways. I'm only 15 and I wanna start up a farm really bad.
@sarge958 u sound like me. im 15 also and im growing up around em but not with much land or any combines and all the equipment. im hoping ill be able to have a couple hundred acres of land with crops on most of it and then a hundred or so head of cattle. big dreams
