  • What is slurry?

  • @DayLight95 Its Cow dung that is sprayed over the field to help the grass grow.

  • what if i dont hit him i head...........will he die soon XD

  • @zamisli123 The head, neck or heart are the only kill zones, hit anywhere else and you have wonded it. Depending on where else you hit it it may bleed out and die after a few minutes.

  • @HuntersVermin thanks an one more..... is it good to drive with your car and when lights blind him shoot i think it is easier to hunt that way

  • I'm not sure what heaven looks like but I'm hoping for something similar to this video. And that's coming from someone that goes foxing with a .223 and a .220 swift. :0.

    Lovely video!!

  • @paddysniper82 Oh boy now that 220 swift could kill, gut and skin a rabbit all in one go, glad you liked the vid.

  • @HuntersVermin

i think i am getting hooked on air rifles which i know nothing about.

what range is in the highest powered rifles? could you get magpies out to 75 yards or is all air gun shooting 20 - 40 yards?

  • @paddysniper82 Most air rifles in the UK have about 12ft/lb of power good for about 35-40 yards but most manufactures make a high powered model mostly pcp powered which can be anything from 30 to almost 100 ft/lb which is getting on to .22lr power and ranges, the only thing is they cost a lot more than a good .22lr.

  • @HuntersVermin

    thanks for that info,

i'd imagine an air gun is far safer that a .22 for shooting birds in trees and so on.

what i have in mind is possibly trading my .223 for one so it would be a high powered pcp rifle as you suggest.

i will have to get my research head on i think :)

  • @paddysniper82 Yes an air rifle would be safer for tree top work but i wouldn't go much above 30ft/lb otherwise you will have the same problem as using a .22lr too much over travel. There are high powered pcp rifles from the likes of Theoben, Daystate, Airarms, FX etc.

  • @HuntersVermin

great i will look into those makes of air rifles. must see about the trajectorys too, id imagine the drop would be substantial.

happy new year to you and i will keep you posted!!

  • @paddysniper82 Have a look on the Hawke sport optics site as they have a free ballistics software that you can try different cal, pellets and power to give you your trajectory's.

  • @HuntersVermin

oh very good thanks, i'm just going to start researching it now :)

  • i need some help getting rid of rabbits here in northern ireland could you come and take a look

  • is even possible to shoot them with no scope???? i ask because i dont have scope :)

  • @zamisli123 If you have open sights it is as many an old timer has told me of how many rabbits they shot well before scopes were on the market.

  • do i have to hit the head or?

  • that last one was pretty good size you could some meat off of him

  • what kind of gun do u use

  • @scottysmith96 Its a Theoben MFR pcp powered air rifle in .22cal with 30ft/lb of energy.

  • at 12ft/lb pcp what is best for rabbits .22 or .177

  • @MultiCharlie1950 They will both do the job, the .22 has more knock down power so better for heart shots while the .177 even with heavier pellets shoots flater and best for head shots.

  • If u what to shoot farther distances get a good scope and get good ammo that helps alot and im 14 and ive ben shooting sence i was 3

  • I have a good 69$ gun and its very accurate im 12 and shot quite a few. ANy tips?

  • wait ofcourse you do

  • and do you eat your rabbits?

  • what is your gun called?

  • @blitzkrieg1117 Its a Theoben MFR in .22cal with 30ft/lb of energy.

  • what do you think of the benjamin marauder in .22? was thinking of saving up for it as a pest rifle. I already have a .177 springer (the crosman phantom) but I wanted a quieter rifle. thanks

  • @coyotehunter118 I haven't had the chance to shoot one yet but it looks like a good rifle for the money.

  • what are good rabbit hunting conditions

  • @Koltan911 If the sun is out and it is warm and pleasant especially after cold or bad weather the rabbits should be out to enjoy it.

  • can you get the pellet out of the dead animal and re-use it?

  • @godwarmw2 NO as i take head shots mostly and if the pellet hits bone at all it gets badly damaged, plus most of the shots go straight through the rabbits so finding the pellet is impossible.

  • thanks for this i love watching your vids very educational good job keep at it

  • @surreyduck Thank you.

  • Try shooting these bastards with open sights....welcome to my world :/ 1 rabbit in maybe 3 hours time if i'm lucky lol.

  • @Agumon5 Yes that would be a challenge, but please don't swear in your comments.

  • Where do you buy this rifle online?

  • @TheTimsislands I looked through the airgun magazines and on the wed to see what sort of air gun i liked the look of that would do my job and then since i live in Northern Ireland i had to order it through a Fire Arms Dealer.

  • Very nice video, well done! Any tips on stalking rabbits? I'm covering ground at about the same pace as you but only using .22 air arms s510 and I'm spooking them.am I trying to get too close or do I need to get lower so my profile doesn't stand out so much?any advice greatly received!

  • @johnbow100 Yes you may have to get lower to the ground even on your belly and take even more time to get closer. The ground i shoot over has cattle on it so the rabbits are used to seeing large animals about. Another way might be to sit near their borrow and wait till they come out to feed near dark for a shot.

  • @HuntersVermin Thanks for taking the time to reply, much apreciated.

  • HO MY GOOD :B

  • I'd love to see a video of how you fill your air reservoir

Many thanks for all your video's

You add a rare touch of decency to a very necessary although sometimes controversial pastime

  • @simon4043 Thank you very much, that was very well put.

  • How is your gun air reservoir pressurized? The pressure seems much higher than can be achieved by a pump or compressor.

Which is better for rabbit hunting - .22 or .177?

  • @simon4043 I use a divers scuba tank to fill my rifle. Both .22 and .177 are good for head shots but the .22 would be better for heart shots.

  • You are a real professional, you can make a air rifle hunting documentary

  • Thanks, your great someone who actually replies to my Comments :D

  • How much does an air rifle cost if I want a descent one for shooting rabbits?

  • @tehFoXz Something like a Weihrauch HW95 or Webley Stringray will be powerfull enough for hunting and last you a life time if you look after it for about £250.

  • Thankyou for your help and hope to be as good as you one day :)

  • @tazman01020304 Your welcome, but i'm not really that good.

  • Thank you and another thing, when I shoot targets at about 20yrds the pellet hits a different place most of the time. Any advice on a good hunting gun for bunnys but good price. Thanks

  • @tazman01020304 Well any gun when zeroed at one range will hit higher or lower at different ranges. Have a look at the Weihrauch HW95k or the likes of the Webley Stingray or Black Hawk. They have the power you need for hunting without going mad on the price.

  • Hi, I have a diana g80 and I find that it doesn't have enough power. I shoot rabbits and mostly miss them. Any help, thanks .

  • @tazman01020304 I am not sure how powerful the g80 is as i think it is an old model, you could try and get it serviced with a new spring and seals to see if that brings it up to around the 12ft/lb of energy for hunting. But practicing as much as you can is the best way to stop missing.

  • I would have laughed if you had said "And I take him out with a clean headshot" when you were video taping the cow.

  • what range finder do you use?

  • @555Smithy Its a Bushnell Scout 1000.

  • what type of pellets do you use?

  • @5051awxm I use .22cal Bisley Magnum pellets.

  • Do you pad your rifle when leaning on gates so it doesn't scratch?

  • @bloodshot16 I try and use the back of my hand to keep the rifle up off of the gate or wall so as not to damage it.

  • What are you referring to as "slurry" in the video?...i assume that it's some weed-killer or fertilizer application(?)

  • @mengels Yeah you could say its a fertilizer as slurry is watered down cow dung that is sprayed onto the fields to make the grass grow, which isn't nice stuff to crawl in.

  • That first rabbit jumped like 5 feet after you hit it!

  • is this rifle FAC mate ?

  • @magalegend Yes it is a 30ft/lb .22cal Theoben MFR that i have on my FAC.

  • what kind of gun do u have

  • @Lancata27 Here i am using my pcp powered .22cal Theoben MFR air rifle.

  • Nice shooting. Well done. Did you enjoy your rabbit stew?

  • @kennya34 Thanks, i enjoyed the rabbit that i cooked up in the mango chutney.

  • is this ireland? its beutiful, and great hunt man, cant wait for the weather to change and go out

  • @IfishNY17 Yes it is Northern Ireland in the summer time 2010.

  • Great video man!

    P.S. Your voice is enchanting.

  • @lcilci97 Thank you very much.

  • great vid...nice clean shot`s well done fella keep up the good work.

    atb BK

  • @bigkips Thank you, glad you liked it.

  • Have you ever had a problem where you've shot a bird through the eyes on accident and it didn't die? This happened to me, I was aiming just under the eye and it hit the eye and came out the other end and the pigeon just didn't want to die. I watched it for about 20 seconds and decided to put a pellet in its head from about 1 foot away. To my dismay, its whole head blasted off!

  • @lambchops1493 I have some times seen that when shooting a rabbit through the eye but not a pigeon, its always best to go for the brain just behind the eye, but you done right using a second shot to finish it quickly.

  • No problem your the one that should be thanked because your videos are helpin alot and probably helping alot of people

  • @moggsykiller10 Thanks, i never thought that so many people would like my videos never mind find them helpful.

  • Your videos are amazing good effort

  • @moggsykiller10 Thank you very much.

  • Hi there.... do you hunt with only f.a.c. rifles or do you use sub 12 foot pound aswell

i have been watching your vids and i think yours are among some of the best hunting vids on youtube.

and i hope you continue to enjoy the sport for many years to come

    best regards from wales

    scooter

  • @0808SCOOTER Thank you very much. The theoben i use here is an FAC but the BSA super 10 i use around farmyards is only 14ft/lb, still an FAC in England but not that much different from a 12ft/lb model.

  • @HuntersVermin what do you think a .22 cal 14.3 grain pellet shooting at 750 fps will generate in terms of foot lbs?

  • @lambchops1493 I work it out at 17.87ft/lb of energy.

  • @HuntersVermin so what kind of game do you think I will be able to effictively hunt with roughly 17 ft/lb of energy?

  • @lambchops1493 I would say anything from rabbit down.

  • hi there, Barry, u tape video and u shoot... alone everything? regards from Tunisia... l love ur style

  • @DoberAchref Yes i do all my own filming when i am out hunting.

  • is that gun a break barrel?

  • @LiveBreatheOutdoors No, its a PCP powered air rifle.

  • Nice shots. What pellets do you use?

    Best regards

    Barry

  • @barrysteenmans Hi ya, i use Bisley Magnum pellets in the 30ft/lb .22cal theoben MFR i use.

  • @HuntersVermin Ok , I will try those. thank you for the reply & have nice days right now.

    bets regards

    Barry

  • @barrysteenmans Your welcome, and good shooting.

  • do you get paid by the farmer

  • @XxsniperxX636 I just put my lips together and suck, to make a kissy kissy sort of noise.

  • very nice my friend! :) i watched a couple of your videos VERY COOL VIDEOS very informational :)

  • @reptilefan9000 Thank you, glad you enjoyed them.

  • very nice shooting !! some good eats nice vid!!

  • @miketheknife2 Thank you, glad you liked it.

  • @Trigun12349 I'm accusal from Co Artrim in Northern Ireland.

  • what the gun your shooting with?

  • @hw100hunter1 Hi, it's a Theoben MFR in .22 cal with 30ft/lb of energy.

  • @HuntersVermin Do you need a firearms license for that in NI? Over here in England I think the limit for a .22 air rifle is 12ft/lbs, with a pistol at half that.

  • @TheEnglishRedneck45 Yes i do as we need a Firearms licence for any air rifle in Northern Ireland no matter what its power is.

  • @HuntersVermin Bloody hell man, even stricter than over here, didn't think that'd be possible.

  • @TheEnglishRedneck45 Yeah its a bit of a hassel for just an airgun but thats the way things are here in NI.

  • Very nice shots and vid. Congrat sir...

  • @MrAphaniusMento Thank you.

  • Very good shots there, great vid. Proper hunting and shooting.

  • @carbonrocket Thank you, glad you enjoyed it.

  • why would you hunt a rabbit?

  • @xxQuiikScopzz Because i have been asked by farmers to control their numbers, as they dig holes in the paster land which cattle and horses can break their legs in , under mine the hedges that help keep the livestock in the fields and can eat the grass lower to the ground than the sheep or cattle can.

  • cant have a 22 there?

  • that cant be a normal air rifle! Its too powerful!

  • @TheInGenCO Hi, its a Theoben MFR PCP air rifle with 30ft/lbs of energy.

  • your English right if not this makes no sense but when they come over to Australia why dont they act like this instead it's waaa this waaa that it two hot waaa toughen the fuck up and btw nice video

  • @wooshma Sounds like you fell in with a bit of a Gurn (someone who can't stop complaining), as we would call them here in Northern Ireland. Glad you enjoyed the vid, but please don't swear in your comments.

  • trying to make some vids of it got a bipod and got a camera so i will have a go dout they will be as good as yours tho lol

  • @cameron9873 Not sure why people like my videos so much, but don't let that put you off. Get out there and have a go you might be very much surprised at what you can do.

  • thanks mate i will try it out this week end thanks a lot cheers again cameron9873

  • @cameron9873 Your welcome, and good luck.

  • hi mate im only 14 and i have a bsa lightning .22 and im having some trouble in shooting rabbits are there any tips you have for me and also for calling in or decoying some pigeons i shoot on private land so i have plenty of space to decoy if that helps with any ideas any tips or infomation on that would be great thanks cameron9873

  • @cameron9873 Hi .With rabbits you need to stalk slowly and quietly along the hedge, stopping and looking often for movement. When you spot one get as low as you can and stalk into range quietly no sudden movement, if the rabbit lifts its head stop and wait till it feeds again before moving on. With pigeons build a hide in a stubble field that you know the birds are feeding on, use full bodied decoys placed in a C or V shape facing into the wind, first light works best when the birds are hungry.

  • nice shots what air gun is it.

  • @crazycool7777 Hi, its a Theoben MFR in .22 with about 30ft/lbs of energy.

  • hi your vids are excellent please get some more up soon

  • Thats nice shooting mate I was out the other night and got one from the car on the way out to the fields I shoot in. Strictly amateur compared to you. What kit you using?

  • @chambreski Hi, i'm using a theoben MFR in .22cal and a Meopta scope.

  • Thx for the reply am at a new permission in W Sussex tomorrow so wish me luck!! 190 acres to roam in....

  • @chambreski Oh that sounds like a nice big area, good luck.

  • hey man!,colud u tell me if 495fps colud kill rabbits, because thats the highest one i found for $200

  • @noah1822 I think that is about 7 to 8ft/lbs energy if its .22cal, which will kill a rabbit with a head shot but you'l have to get that bit closer, say 20 to 25 yards.

  • @noah1822 check the rws 34, about #30 over your limit but its worth it, will last decades of 800 fps in .22, if not these rifles shoot 800-1000 fps and are under $200, beeman rs2, gamo big cat, or crosman titan nitro piston....i remind you those last three are cheaply made in china while rws is made in germany.

  • @robinhoodman2 Yep the German guns are good.

  • @HuntersVermin very good vids, i want to hunt like this here in new york but i dont know any armers personally that would let me.

  • @robinhoodman2 Well all you can do is start to drive around from farm to farm and nicely ask.

  • my airgun has about 16-18 ft/lbs... so i suppose i can kill birds and rabbits really easy....

  • @dragonpks That is considered rather high powered in the UK and will most diffidently kill small game cleanly with a well placed shot.

  • oh btw, great videos!

  • @dougpoon Thanks for your nice comment.

  • I watched this video and your other ones last week before my trip up to northern ontario...have heard lots of debate over whether the canadian legal limit air rifle is capable of killing a rabbit. I can confirm that it is indeed possible. 15-20 yard shot through the eye with a .22 caliber at 495 fps using pointed pellets nabbed me one...I suppose it must be a perfect headshot, but it is possible.

  • @dougpoon Good for you, they say it only takes about 3ft/lbs to kill a rabbit cleanly with a well placed shot. Most air rifles in the UK produce about 12ft/lbs(600fps), but at 495fps yours should be producing about 7 to 8 ft/lbs.

  • Damn man u are good u got like 7 of them!

  • @noah1822 Thanks, glad you liked it.

  • what make and model of gun do you use?

  • @cameron9873 I use a theoben MFR .22 air rifle with about 30ft/lbs of energy.

  • @HuntersVermin thanks for that you do come from ireland dont you? by the sound of ur accent lol, what is the limit of the FPP over there or do you have a firearms license?

  • @cameron9873 No problem, and yes i come from the Northern Ireland. We work more with ft/lbs here, my MFR is about 30ft/lbs or 832fps with a 21gran pellet, which i have a firearms license for. You need a license for any air rifle here but in England you only need a license for any air rifle off 12ft/lbs.

  • @HuntersVermin oh right thats interesting i never new that you had to have a license even for and air rifle under the legal limit in northern ireland is the law different out of northern ireland or is it he same?

  • @cameron9873 Well i don't know much about the south of Ireland, just that i don't think my license cover's me to take my guns over the border to the south as its part of the EU. In England, Wales and Scotland you can buy an air rifle under 12ft/lbs over the counter without a license, anything above that you need to get an FAC for. But the powers to be are trying to ban air rifles in Scotland at the minute.

  • Thanks for a good film, inspired me to go for some magpie shoting today.

Does'nt have rabbits were I live in sweden (sadly) were in Yorkshire last year with my springers shooting rabbits(one of the best hunting weeks ever)

    Keep filming / Robert

  • btw I finally was able to get a video up so feel free to check it out on my channel, just as you have an abundance of rabbits we have too many squirrels

  • Great vid and great commentary.

    Liked and subbed!!

  • @RSROBXR2 Thank you, glad you liked it,

  • what make and model of gun do you use? the oben rapid 7 ?

  • hey mate do you think you could make another rabbit hunting vid.

    there addicting as hahaha.

    keep it up.

  • @surfpipeful Hi ya, i have one already made, just need to convert it then upload. Thank you.

  • great shooting dude i was never a lover of air rifles but looking at the modern ones and the results you are getting im coming around to the idea of getting one what calibre and make is the air gun you are using,Oh yea thanks for the subscription

  • @yammo12 Thanks, it's always good to hear from other shooters from Ireland. I'm using a .22 theoben MFR, it's very quite and accurate but being a pre-charged air rifle costs a lot more than a .22 rimfire.

  • That's another great vid HV, I think that you are the epitomy of the modern day hunter with a bit of traditional thinking mixed in. I really enjoy your vid's, in a way they are relaxing but very informative, which I think I've said before,,,,, Thank you. C

  • @brickyC Oh your not the only one to say it, i'm just so surprised at how well my videos are liked, by so many. Thanks again for another nice comment.

  • I'm jealous of you guys in the uk having so many rabbits, Great video!!!

  • @hunterguy28 Oh thats ok, I think there would be a lot of us in the UK who would be jealous of how many different sorts of game (big and small) you have to hunt in the USA. Plus your gun laws aren't as strict as the UK, but thats just how things are. Glad you liked the videos.

  • @HuntersVermin Its just around my area, there are hardly any rabbits.
