Just got back from Indian Shores and went to Clearwater beach for 1 day and on the pier where the market stalls are we stood there for 5 minutes and we saw a pod of these feeding - Superb.
Did Captain Jacks dolphin cruise down at Johns Pass and saw them near to Treasure Island beach and its superb to see them in their natural habitat :)
Went there in 2006 with my wife and kids brilliant beach never seen one dolphin though but seen some lovely ladies in bikinis always a perk:-). great people perfect family holiday destination, and im going next year whuu hoo cant wait .
I went here well we were staying in the sheraton hotel but we went on a boat called the sea screamr and we saw all the dolphins cant wait till we go again next year
wrong. Dolphins have a dorsal fine, it is the caudal fin that that separates (most) fish from dolphins. On a dolphin, the caudal fin is horizontal, whereas on a fish like a shark it is (usually) vertical. That is why when you see a shark in the water close enough for it's fin to break the surface you see two fins. I've spent a lot of time wade fishing in the Florida flats. Knowing if I need to get my ass out of the water or not when I see a fin is relevant to me =)
@Elthenar well i was reading a book about dolphins and they have a slightly different dorsal fin then sharks plus their body motion so its easy to tell them apart
You said they don't have a dorsal fin, that is what i corrected you on. You are dead on about the swimming motion. It is directly related to the major differences in the caudal fin.
Dolphins are very fast. I like dolphins. In fact, I love dolphins!!! :p
