The main reason anyone plays this game is to screw around killing zombies not doing about the story or survivors. Saving survivors is boring and hard, killing survivors is fun however 2-1 case make it easier to get to entrance plaza.

But yes, you are correct. Depending on the severity of the crime, the limb hacked off would vary. It could even be more than 1 criminal at once, could have been 2 or even 3. It was sometimes even inscribed with gold, it would say various things, if my memory serves me well, it would say something like this: " 1 rib cage, 1 cut". Things of that nature.

What I don't understand is that there are plenty of people in Japan who could have been hired to motion capture proper katana usage, even of the kind to cut people in half with every stroke. Why not make use of what's available? This was a Japanese-developed game, after all.

Then again, properly-used swords don't break after 20 strikes--though I'm not sure how well a sword would hold up to bisecting people with every stroke.

I actually brought that up myself.

If you notice, he uses it correctly, in a way. He severes the clavicle with some swipes, which is a soft bone that could be crushed with only 20lbs of force.

Samurai LOVED to cut this bone, as it cuts cleanly and easily. Actually, the blades he used were antique, which were still strong. Hold on, I'll mail you something interesting.
