  • Never been able to hit a triangle in the 80 or so grappling matches I've had. My legs are too damn short.

  • Great tutorial.

  • the guy in white looks like aj styles

  • What an amazingly well done series of videos these are. Just incredible.

  • this is my favorite next to guillotine :D

  • briliant though...

  • ....no that's not quite right....adjust yourself....here....pull on the head...yesss!

  • not if your wife train bjj like I do! lol

  • COOL AND THANKS

  • Best triangle instruction ever. Every time I watch one of Roy's vids I have a eureka moment.

  • great!

  • Who are the 5 morons that disliked?

  • Very well executed and explained for beginners like myself.

  • Another option for helping lock in the triangle is to drive the opponent's head toward the ground when you first hook behind the head. By pulling across, you're turning your hips which makes it a little easier to lock in behind the knee.

  • From which of his dvds was this taken?

  • roy dean is an amazing instructor and practitioner. take what he says seriously he is very skilled.

  • Loving it:))

  • Is this guaranteed to stop a nagging wife ?

  • @Stunl3y Just take her in your guard and keep repeating the move, she'll stop eventually

  • @Stunl3y hahahahahaha

  • thanks

  • The triangle choke is my favorite submission.... never had it broken down so well though!! Thanks a million.

  • We love you Zaki

  • My name is Zaki and I am a BJJaholic

  • @ZakiTemple Hello, Zaki.

  • ATA!

  • awesome

  • my favorite tecnic in judo

  • is my favorite... i won by that in judo

  • pretty sure in bjj every technique that makes the oppenent tap becomes a favourite technique.

  • thanks fro the vid!!!

  • u r a genius!!!!!!

  • this stuff is like knots, i cant understand anything..

  • i tried and i locked myself :))

  • _Great_ stuff definately, as everything i've seen from Roy Dean, but for finishing the triangle i like to use Ryan Hall's method. You can forget about the opponents arm position completely and use more powerful muscles in your legs.

  • Excellent video. I have been training for a year and have a terrible triangle. I think the tips on the set up will help.

  • What if he he(tj) doesn't pull back

  • @brozac1011 Attack the arm, and go for the straight arm lock.

  • Really great instruction!

  • nice vid man

  • very good. after practice whenever i dont remmeber compeltely what i am taught i check out these vids. very informative. great refresher. thanks!

  • @Sindrijo i find theres always a what if situation. so to answer your question, of course you could do that, but if a jiu jitsu guy really knows what hes doing, hell know how to defend it.

  • wow!!! awesome demonstration!!!

  • yeah i triangled a new guy he tried to pick me up was to weak ended up falling on me and knocked two vertebrae out of place!sucked

  • o americano é afiado no assunto

    akuma

  • which dvd is this clip on?

  • @DontAskForHotsauce

True! I don t like eighter. Beginners go for the slamming all the time. And the problem is I never play hard with anyone. But wenn that happens I go in to survival/fight mode. Kinda ugly...

  • grab the head and leg and it's very hard for them to slam you

  • it looks easy because he is doing it as a drill to instruct the viewer. he is showing us how to get the choke and the student is not defending. in real life and competing it wouldnt even be that easy for him. someone at his same level will know how to defend.

  • at 1.52 he makes a wrist lock

  • @VitorMartinsCunha good eye! I totally would have missed that if you hadn't pointed it out.

  • very dangerous... BUT VERY COOL!

  • This guy is a genius

  • You have a nice way for teaching and that "push pull" is a great hint. - FD

  • love his way of teaching , =) In my country there isn't a gym that does bjj -> I'm doing taj - jitsu and I learn the bjj moves by his vids . And I love his name to ^^ same as mine hahah...

  • what submission has the best success rate?

  • Cool vid, thanks!

  • @DontAskForHotsauce if someone try to pick you up when you do triangle, you just transfer to an arm bar, they're done.

  • @DontAskForHotsauce I agree, they do tend to panic quite a bit; however, it does serve as good practice if by ANY chance you are to be in a dire situation...The practice has helped me learn to rather let go and chase for a leg/ankle lock...

  • @lostlilkid tru bout the real experience. i sink an arm under a raised leg theirs; if they start to try to lift me....lol thats prob what u just wrote. im not aloowed to use loeg locks yet

  • he is very good...like my coach

  • A very good demonstration, maybe so far, one of the best.

  • I'm pretty sure Roy Dead just surpassed Chuck Norris in awesomeness.

  • this is so epic

  • can you do a nogi triangle set-up vid? i need new transitions

  • at 4:45 he does a arm lock instead of the triangle

  • this guy knows whats up

  • i learn

  • Very Good

  • I'm definitely going to use this the next time I roll with somebody.

  • best instructor on youtube. very technically accurate. cheers

  • This is a great video mate, you really do know what you're doing, great job. keep it up. Very easy to understand and to pick up, thanks for the tutorials buddy.

  • Man I love this guy, BS free BJJ, I love it!

  • Great video. Helped me in my fight lol

  • Beautiful violence!

  • Thank you for the video.

  • awesome video man, one of the best ive seen

  • im not originally coming from groundfighting so im very thankful for your vids. very clear explaination!

and i like your dojo alot^^

  • Very impressive .

  • cool 'combo', great tutorial!

  • when he pulls his arm back, you could also of done an omoplata :) , im sure u know that tho

  • @DontAskForHotsauce

lol, so true. Im new but if my opponent gets me in a triangle i tap very quickly - no point wasting energy when im beaten. If they stack you try hooking your arm around their heel and switch to armbar. It works really well.

  • very good videos

  • Great Blue belt DVD Mr. Dean glad I got it. Great instruction it has help me in my training.

  • my favorite choke

  • ya i thinks its the coolest too, but i like the flying triangle.

  • wow, the dude is smooth

  • great submission its funny to catch someone in a tight triangle and watch him struggle

  • wow such a deadly move

  • be man enough to resist a bite for 5-10 seconds he will have passed out

  • in mma the opponents arent allow to bite

  • what if your opponent tries to bite you?

  • great thinking!

  • if some one was to bite you just take the pain for 4 seconds becouse the other guy will soon be out cold!

  • Great instruction, very nice.

  • chillen bruv

  • wow fing rediculous

  • phenominal

  • very smooth transitions and great detail in instruction!

  • Very nice Coach

  • How does he make this look so easy??

  • @Maconhockey Because he's a black belt ;p

  • @Maconhockey because it is...

  • @sweetswantonbombs And because he's using a uke; if he were showing these techniques under full resistance it wouldn't look quiet as smooth.

  • @Maconhockey

Black belt Judo, Black belt Aikido and Black belt Brazillian Jiu Jitsu, thats how!

  • This guys nasty. Wouldn't want to get into it on the ground with this man. Great videos.

i can understand it better than the other videos over here :D

    gj

  • good job man !

  • Awesome video. Thanks so much for posting. I'm considering buying some videos from that link :).

  • excelente

  • Nice. I've been flailing around without direction, using too much strength and burning myself out on the mat. Time to nail a couple of techniques and move my BJJ forward. Will be buying this DVD... awesome.

  • awsome stuff guys

  • Today in class I gave two dudes my first triangle choke :D I should have remembered to rotate to get a better angle though.. but made them both tap out :D

  • nice

  • Great videos, I like the combinations at the end. keep it real!

  • I have his DVD, and I thoroughly recommend it. He is a great teacher and a genuinely nice guy

  • Definately gonna do this in my judo class. Have always run into problems when I get the lock, but the positioning isnt good. His explanation on how to adjust is fucking fantastic. Thanks dude.

  • Amazing! 5 stars sir. i almost orderd you DVD but my little girl needs a halloween costume...

    maybe next week.

  • Great Job Roy!

The best explanation I've ever heard. Keep it up!

  • brilliant video. Wouldn't the Omoplata be a better submission to attempt after failed armlock? It just seems that your lets are in the perfect position for it and you wouldn't have to risk rotating on the inside of the thighs. Thanks

  • Very awesome video, it helped me out. The detail and way of explanation is excellent and is what makes it so easy to grasp and pick up the technique.

  • Awesome video! Thank you! You're a great teacher.

  • The detail is excellent.

  • This guy has great hips. I bet at full speed he is increadibly fast. Great instructional video. One of the best I have seen yet on this technique.

  • "This guy has great hips"

  • Good gravy, man.

  • To do the stuff like this well just work at it and It will come but had to say very nice very nice my friend

  • Your instructional videos are really good. I wish I could do the triangle as good as you. I find it always very hard to complete though, as I have shorter legs and I'm often practicing with meatheads that are much bigger than me. lol

  • Very nice

  • awsome job teaching the triangle choke. Best I've seen on you tube so far.

  • very well instructed!

  • I always wondered how to adjust my lock when they stand up. Great technique.
