Another option for helping lock in the triangle is to drive the opponent's head toward the ground when you first hook behind the head. By pulling across, you're turning your hips which makes it a little easier to lock in behind the knee.
_Great_ stuff definately, as everything i've seen from Roy Dean, but for finishing the triangle i like to use Ryan Hall's method. You can forget about the opponents arm position completely and use more powerful muscles in your legs.
@Sindrijo i find theres always a what if situation. so to answer your question, of course you could do that, but if a jiu jitsu guy really knows what hes doing, hell know how to defend it.
True! I don t like eighter. Beginners go for the slamming all the time. And the problem is I never play hard with anyone. But wenn that happens I go in to survival/fight mode. Kinda ugly...
it looks easy because he is doing it as a drill to instruct the viewer. he is showing us how to get the choke and the student is not defending. in real life and competing it wouldnt even be that easy for him. someone at his same level will know how to defend.
love his way of teaching , =) In my country there isn't a gym that does bjj -> I'm doing taj - jitsu and I learn the bjj moves by his vids . And I love his name to ^^ same as mine hahah...
@DontAskForHotsauce I agree, they do tend to panic quite a bit; however, it does serve as good practice if by ANY chance you are to be in a dire situation...The practice has helped me learn to rather let go and chase for a leg/ankle lock...
@lostlilkid tru bout the real experience. i sink an arm under a raised leg theirs; if they start to try to lift me....lol thats prob what u just wrote. im not aloowed to use loeg locks yet
This is a great video mate, you really do know what you're doing, great job. keep it up. Very easy to understand and to pick up, thanks for the tutorials buddy.
lol, so true. Im new but if my opponent gets me in a triangle i tap very quickly - no point wasting energy when im beaten. If they stack you try hooking your arm around their heel and switch to armbar. It works really well.
Nice. I've been flailing around without direction, using too much strength and burning myself out on the mat. Time to nail a couple of techniques and move my BJJ forward. Will be buying this DVD... awesome.
Today in class I gave two dudes my first triangle choke :D I should have remembered to rotate to get a better angle though.. but made them both tap out :D
Definately gonna do this in my judo class. Have always run into problems when I get the lock, but the positioning isnt good. His explanation on how to adjust is fucking fantastic. Thanks dude.
brilliant video. Wouldn't the Omoplata be a better submission to attempt after failed armlock? It just seems that your lets are in the perfect position for it and you wouldn't have to risk rotating on the inside of the thighs. Thanks
Your instructional videos are really good. I wish I could do the triangle as good as you. I find it always very hard to complete though, as I have shorter legs and I'm often practicing with meatheads that are much bigger than me. lol
