  • These days if you miss a tiny patch of snow and someone slips on it, you'll get a lawyer knocking on your door. As for council tax payers subsidising motorists, you will find motorists pay considerably more in driving related taxes than is spent on the roads.

  • If everybody cleared the Path outside their Doors it would be a good Idea. It could be a Collective thing to do,just like they did Years ago. Some People still do this where I live. This Chap probably is absolutely Livid about the Council not gritting the Path since his fall. Why does he not clear around his Car so he does not Slip,he will also help prevent an Old Person being killed.

  • @sunnyjoe66

It looks like he slipped out of his garden area :p

Problem is, people are "too" busy these days having to work, too old, too young, too many children to go out and clear ice (it's not so easy as it is snow).

But it does highlight how much non motorists will pay for motorists with their council tax... you pay loads of money for them to grit the roads and not the pavements.

Best thing to do, walk in the road... seriously, it's all of our and you are allowed to walk on it,gritted...

  • I've gone over on ice a fair few times whilst on foot. I think councils do think we walk to cars and thats it, not that they seem to grit many roads anyway.

I now use some big cleated walking nshoes at this time of year. Would like crampons too sometimes LOL

  • Basically it's complete contempt for pedestrians. Not a single footpath has been gritted round my way. Evidently the local council must believe that people don't use their legs anymore.

  • Ouch. I've only seen one path gritted around here, I was quite surprised they didn't do the one 'hill' shared path around these parts, people walked in the road instead, one lady pushing a pram! But today I was pleased to see that even old ladies were out on their bikes in town, cold but mostly ice free on the road. Good for them!! :)

  • And they say the days of slapstick have passed. :-D

I was thinking the same as you. I feel safer than the pedestrians on the pavements.

  • I laughed quite a bit sadly.

I saw recently whilst driving, a few peds walking down the road because the path was just too icy!

  • I did that yesterday.. you can help it and you expect motorists to try and hoot you off too. It is absolutely crazy. Why don't pedestrians riot?!

  • Had to play it about 6 times before I saw the fall (6 secs on the left).
