  • Always loved them! Had the privilege of playing bass on one of their live performances in club 13, taipei, taiwan, in '62 or '63, They were very personable, and were one of the main reasons i got involved in country music.

  • I've always loved this song... These guys were (and still are) the best.. There hasn't been anyone since that could match their harmonic voices.. Don't know about Tompall or Chuck, but Mr. Jim is still performing... voice has transcended time and age... still just as awesome as ever.... Can't believe that these guys are not in the Country Music Hall of Fame.... They need to be!

  • There is one and a half billon Roman Catholic, in the world Iam happy for them

  • SO GREAT!! THANKYOU FOR SHARING!

    Cindy Bates

  • Heard these guys in Wembly England best harmony i ever heard bloody fantastic

  • The Glaser brothers are Roman Catholic, but their religion doesn't matter their awesome music is all that matters.

  • And their religion would matter because?

  • I was a very lucky person to to see the Glaser Brothers when they were in San Francisco,at the Marines Hall on Sutter St.,way back in the 70's or so,and will never forget the great performance.. I had a chance to talk to Tompall, after the show, and still remember his friendly personality..He talk to me,like we were old High school buddies.. There has been nothing like them now,nor will there ever be again...Faithful Fan

  • Thank you for a great post!

  • It was 1960 we were playing in Cutbank Mt. We

had a night off so went down to Shelby, Mt. . Went to this club where there were 3 guys & a steel player making great country music. We visited & drank with them all night. They were

very nice to us. I got to get up and play some

steel with them. Few years later I find out

The were The Glaser Bros.!!! I,ve been a fan of theirs a long time. Thanks for the posting.

  • I love it--great singing....thanks guys

  • Just so you know, you spelled Spalding wrong. I'd know I live there. They're my great uncles too.

  • If Papa Glaser had been a Rabbi and Mom a Roman Catholic, the Glaser Brothers would not be Jews.

But why on earth would Jewishness or Catholicity be of interest to a fan (or nonfan)?

Human beings they are, and three of the most talented who ever walked the face of planet earth.

    Shalom y'all

  • What smooth voices these brothers have. I hadn't heard any songs by them in quite awhile and got to checking out YouTube and found this one. Wonderfully talented and I think this is one of their greatest. Thanks for posting. - Paula

  • I'm talking about JIM>>>>

  • You'll hear them singing harmony on many of Marty Robbins' western songs. There voices are unmistakable on many other country hits

  • I just love the harmony in all the songs. I remember the time they came to Glasgow Scotland & the show was magic. I just feel there is no one can sing harmony like these guys.

  • umm...they aren't jewish, i know that for a fact, they are my great uncles, so all this talk about them being jewish, just refer down to the comment by jim's son.

  • I don't either. I just wrote what I read on the CD liner notes plus a couple of other places. All I know is that they were great, and I slill enjoy playing their wonderful music.

  • Don't care what religion they are----I love their music. Thanks for posting!

  • Jewish? Eye-talian? Ha, ha, ha, ha. That's a good one. But you know Nashville in the early days. Don't want "those kind" making country music records. I'm surprised Nashville accepted them when they found out they were Catholic. Hopefully, times have changed for the better. Now if they can just put out some decent "country music", and quit pushing the talentless bimbo and hat acts ad nauseum.

  • i know you wish you could sing half as good asd they do!!!!. you prejudice pig. get off.

  • hey, he's criticizing nashville for being prejudice. read before you flame someone.

  • yes...i wish a sinkhole would swallow up nashville.

  • The Glaser brothers had the finest harmony of any group that ever was on the Opry.I heard them in concert in 1971 and no other act has ever come close to what they did. They were the best.

  • Here I am . . . listening to you guys (all relatives) and I would do anything to have Tompall sign an acoustic guitar: "Bad Bad Bad Cowboy" (LOL).

  • I thought all of this may have had something to do with the Kinky Friedman connection and the "Pearls In The Snow" CD.

In any case . . . all of us grow up having idols

And . . . Tompall and the Glaser Brothers were mine.

  • Tompall is my uncle, reading this has been interesting! I'm curious as to whom of the above are my Tennessee cousins? Grandma Marie Glaser would set those straight that needed to know about the Glaser Bros. upbringing in St. Michael's Parish of Spalding NE. I also attended all three uncles weddings in Catholic churches.....

  • Tompall gave an interview where he stated they were Jewish (living in Spalding where 99.99% of the people were catholic) he always BS'd people in this way (most likely inspired from his friend Kinky Friedman). He also stated on Hee-Haw that he grew up in Humphrey NE (sexual overtone) and claimed their 80 acre home was a 1,200 acre ranch. I grew up in Spalding and he's my distant cousin, great performer's but sorry they were Catholic.

  • wheeze1124:

Which one of the fantastic Glaser Brothers is your father?

Tompall's new album, "Outlaw To The Cross" is absolutely incredible.

  • I'm Jim's youngest son. My dad told me the jewish rumor came from years ago when they first went to Nashville and were investigated by the establishment because they looked like they could have been jewish or (heaven forbid) ITALIANS from New York City! You have to remember this was Nashville in the 1950's, not exactly the most liberal minded group of people. The rumor has been around ever since. And as for the liner notes, none of the brothers were even contacted when they were written.

  • Your daddy fascinates me!

  • Absolutely love your dad's voice...what talent.

  • I am a huge fan.

    And . . . wheeze1124 is correct.

The Glaser Brothers (Tompall, Jim and Chuck) are devout Catholics.

And . . . everything I have read on them and their upbringing has made that important bit of information known.

  • @ronficek Bullshit. The Glasers are Mormon elders.

  • what great harmony these guys had,old

country music is like old movies, the singers

in each one were top notch and each one had

there own style, not like the clones we have

    today

  • This is the last on this subject. One of the places is the liner notes from their CD "The best of Tompall & the Glaser Bros". It's out by Collectors' Choice Music. Great CD. BYE.

  • I'm sorry but the liner notes are wrong, I can tell you this because one of them is my father, and I can assure you that most of the

    Glasers are devout catholics.

  • You're wrong weeze1124. I suggest you read up on them.

  • Do you mind if I ask where you're getting your information? I'm sorry but it isn't correct. Most of the Glasers are devout catholics (some of us not so much).

  • Yep.

  • Not hardly, Catholic is more like it.

  • Jewish?
