is it at maximum video res or something smaller?

I believe that the resolution used when in time-lapse mode is 640x480.

What an appropriate song in the background. Yes I'm sorry. I bought the sd880 and the time-lapse has gone!! I know how to make a timelapse from regular video, but the battery probably won't last one tenth of the time shooting in regular mode.

yeah I just did a time lapse video last night of a typical night, and this morning I am doing one right now! When I woke up in the morning, the battery was still full!
It really is a great caera -- and that's why I chose it: I lined up all the best digital cameras anyone sold, and this one is the best by its stats.
It's really measuring up, & thensome. There are a few things I would like, but the viewfinder I don't want anyways because I never use it, and the buttons are not too small for me.

I just have a question: did you have the camera plugged in with an AC adapter? Or did it last this long on the battery?

No, it was all on the battery - no AC adaptor. The SD870 IS battery is REALLY good.
