  • Great video! Walked me through it perfectly. American Standard sent me two new valves when I called and said they were messing up...all for free!

  • same thing happened to me!!! this part can only be ordered.....

  • Awesome Customer service...thanks...they are sending me a complimentary kit because I purchased a house in 09 that the owner had toilets replaced with AS. Warrantee only covers original owner purchase. I appreciate the customer care!

  • I have a one piece toilet... how does this work? Is there a video for a one piece?

    thanks

  • can you install the valve in a regular toilet?

  • Why do you put the refill tube inside the vent tube? The water then goes straight down the drain. You should install the refill tube on the outside of the vent tube so it can refill the tank.

  • Also, I noticed the valve opening sits several inches higher than the original. Which means it uses less water when flushing. How much less water does it use?

  • @Crazyfootballguy The refill tube is to allow extra water down the sewer line itself. This helps move solids down your drain line to the main sewer, reducing the chance of a clog in your toilet lines. The water in the bowl itself is not always sufficient to do this and without the refill tube adding extra water "down the drain" as it were, you would stand a much greater chance of a nasty "traffic jam" in your home's drain line.

  • Just replaced the Old Style cflush tower valve with the new Champion 4 valve, on my one piece elongated Champion 2004. American Standard shipped a new valve via FedEx, no charge.

The Old Style cflush tower would hang-up every third or forth flush, and would require you to jiggle the handle. This problem started day one and lasted a few years till I learned about the new style valve, and called American Standard Cust Serv. 1-800-442-1902

Old Style cflush #738825-007, New Style #3280-040-0070A

  • I just called AS customer service today, and they are sending me a free replacement

flush valve, and the needed extras to install it.

This was a great posting, and great customer service from AS.

I had my Champion 4 toilet for 7 years now, and love it. The flush valve just went bad so I guess I have been pretty lucky having it last that long. Thanks to all for your helpfull comments.

  • I just learned today you cannot purchase replacement flush valves for this toilet from the hardware store...has to come from American Standard I suppose.

    Never again.

  • The flush valve for the Champion 4 is covered by a 10 year warranty so you do not need to buy one.

You can call our customer service department at: 1-800-442-1902 and they will be happy to assist you.

  • @FORMETOKNOWONLY you can buy them at lowes

  • Other issue I have is the seat is making noise when it slowly close (like if there was sand in the inges) and it did that since the first day I received it.

I went to customer who also had that product and they also got seat inges making noise when dropping the seat.

The best design of this toilet is the removal of the seat. It's fast to remove and put back. Perfect for cleaning the 1-piece toilet. At the time, I had bought this over a TOTO just for the seat release.

  • @Aleziss Technical services has told me a little vegetable oil in the hinge are can eliminate the noise or you can get further assistance by contacting them directly below.

  • I am happy to see that they are aware of this issue (since they have respond to you about it). I'll give it a try.

Thanks for the tip and help.

  • I've got the Champion4 1-piece toilet and it is the worst and most expensive toilet I ever bought... never again.

I've replace the flush valve with the updated one and it has hard time to flush slight amount of paper with no solid.

75% of the time, it does not empty the bowl. I need to flush two time to emtpy it completely (6l per flush... yeah right...)

I need to put the water level the highest I can in the tank to get decent operation wich is a non sence for this price tag.

  • What you describe is not typical, and I apologize for the inconvenience.

To resolve the issue please call Technical Customer Service at 1-800-442-1902, and then press option 3 for Consumer, then option 1 for Technical Support, then option 3 for Warranty. You'll need your model number, month/year of purchase, name, street address and phone number. Any of our qualified technical customer service representatives will troubleshoot the problems that you are experiencing.

  • Thanks. I'll try to give them a call again. Last time they sent me for free the flush valve we seen in the video. I've installed it, it's a little bit better but never to the performance I would expect.

It's like there is something that block the flow of water from the tank to the bowl. The inner side and front from the bowl get a tiny amount of rinse (paper get stuck in the front instead of being wash away).

I hope they will be able to help since they already change the valve.

    Thanks

  • This cannot be installed on any toilet. The original Champion cflush tower can be replaced with the new Champion 4 flush tower.

  • Is this a kit? Can it be installed on any toilet?

  • @roughrider119 This is not currently sold as a kit. There is much more to the flushing system than just the valve. The internal design of the bowl is also critical

  • I have the old style valve the you took out of the tank. it makes a pretty loud slam when you flush......was there a recall on the valve
