Roni was in Tampa,Fl and came over to Largo and sat in with us at one of our jams. She didn't say who she was but when she played the thyme song from Hee Haw , I knew it was her!
I have a Hee Haw dvd at home where she plays a tune called "Stop That Ticklin Me" with Stringbean, Grandpa Jones, and the rest of that Hee Haw string band. It is quite possibly the best thing EVER on television due, in no small part, to Roni Stoneman's stage presence.
I never knew she was the banjo goddess she is until tonight. I just remember her comedy roles on Hee Haw as a kid and I always had a crush on her through the years. She still looks great, and damn, does she play a mean banjo! Glad to see she's doing great!
Thank you for posting this. Roni Stoneman is one of the all time greats and I am always trying to see or listen to any of her stuff I can find. I have some old Stoneman Family LPs and they are the greatest. "Dark As A Dungeon"

Back in 1980 I repaired the broken heel in Roni's Mastertone. I hope it's still holding. She gives them pretty rough treatment. Best wishes Roni.

Am a huge Roni fan. Is there anyway to keep up with and where she will be next? I want to see her live as I never have.
