@xbellaxbrutalityx Goes back a long way in England. Last Night of the Proms is a huge annual concert. I think it has to do with people promenading themselves back when they used to dress in finery and parade out to the theatre to be seen. I'm open to correction there but that's my take. The Dr Who show is a new version of the same kind of event. Huge success, too, by the look of it.

@mgfaxlad Dr Who has now been going for about 45+ years and spans three generations. It's getting better all the time. I love the look on the childrens faces when they see "Real" Daleks. My wife is a home carer, and looks after a 94 year old man; who was so engrossed in Dr Who on the TV; that he wouldn't have his dinner at the table as he normally did. That is the measure of the success of this fantastic series. It's great to see some of the oldies like Eric Sykes acting in it too.

An amature/inkompeten director, who deosn´t know he/she is doing won´t be able to make even the most grusome looking monster look scary.

But a skilled one on the other hand can make even an oversized trashcan able to scare even the bravest of persons.

Its speaks to the series credit that most of the time skilled persons have been behind the wheel and thus have been able to make the Daleks (despite their not so scary look) terrify so many people over time.
