  • I've always been fascinated with the ultralight aircraft. Maybe one day i'll have one to fly to myself...that, or a Paraglider. I have one question, is there an emergency parachute on an ultralight? I think i have seen some on a few out there close-up when on the ground.

  • @001GenLee There sure is. If you look right behind my shoulders, you will see a hand deployed parachute in a black bag. Some people have a rocket deployed chute. All you have to do is pull a handle and the rocket pulls the chute out of the bag. Most people fly with a reserve chute. Some don't. They figure if you have to fly with a reserve, you shouldn't be flying. Thanks for watching. Be sure to check out my other videos.

  • Im a glider pilot that won't happen to me :) :D

  • thanks for clearing that one up. I bought one and intended to fly it without any experience; maybe i could have survived after all.

  • Awesome Man Give me a Ride :)

  • Two thumbs up .Great landing !

  • Don't try this with a jet

  • fantastic landing....on a seriously rough runway too

  • I like that shrug after engine off, almost says "What? Not falling?"

  • Awesome bit of flying and landing... bet you've put a lot of flight time in :D

  • we're goin down buddy.

  • flying in a coffin interesting. :/

    like is u agree

  • Muito bom...!!

  • I get that same question all the time in my Piper Seneca. It's exactly the same deal. It lands just as good without the engines as it does with them. Go-arounds can be tricky, though!

  • @cggage LOL!!!

  • @wrdturkey Go arounds are a pain in the ass in power off landings *lol*

  • yep and thats how the wings helped it to glide

  • @ 1:30 ding ding, round 2!

  • That... was just cool.

  • that looks ultrasketchy

  • dont ya love it when your engine conveniently fails when you're right over the runway?

  • like a boss

  • man i want to have a go in one of these. i wouldnt go 2 high though

  • @thegrimstock You may want to rethink that. Higher is safer, especially when you have a single engine.

  • What happens when the engine quits, well you become a glider

  • Do you have to have a pilot's license to fly one of these? I am interested in flying and I think that this would be a great start but I know that to get a license you have to go through an expensive course and I just don't have the money. Speaking of money, how much does one of these usually cost?

  • @ProdigyGuitarPlayer There is no license required to fly an ultralight in the USA. You will still need to take lessons to survive your first flight. It's not something you want to learn on your own. The lessons can be expensive to learn how to fly an ultralight. A new one, similar to mine, will run you about 13k. Google northwing trikes and look under their ultralight trike section.

  • When people give that "what happens when motor quits" routine I ask if they have ever heard of a thing called the space shuttle; it dead stick lands every trip, you just gotta watch your "v" speeds and don't try to "stretch" a glide. .

  • Very nice! Well done!

  • awesome

  • Great landing, good demonstration. Where I can get information about the Ultralights Trikes? Thanks.

  • @Guizzazo The internet is a great place to get info. You can Google Northwing and go to there site. I would also recommend trikebuggy delta. Google either one.

  • I live the way he points out the turbulence near the trees lol

  • Cool. I want one!

  • Never mind how well he flew - the guy flying formation for the camera was a master!

  • @Steeyuv That would be the wife hanging on to the wing tip with one hand and filming with the other.

  • GREAT JOB BRO

  • @mannexx111 Thank you, but people that fly these things regularly know it's no big deal. Thanks for watching.

  • dear mr santa claus..

  • beautiful landing, well done, lots of confidantes .

    GIANFRANCO FRONZI. NOV.17/11

  • I enjoyed that, thanks

    Ste

  • What is the shortest distance take off can that do?

Also I've seen a video where the wind just pick up and snap a glider like that (the top part)

  • @oakland002 About 100-150 feet. You can take off shorter than that with a headwind. I would like to see that video. Most wings are tested to 6 G's positive loading and 3 G's negative loading. That's better than a small Cessna. These wings are designed around hang glider and were meant to fly in turbulence.

  • Very cute deltaplane (paraplane)!

  • most people think if engine quits you fall down. bullshit

  • woa nice :D... dear santa (: ?

  • well done mate!

  • No need to worry on gas.. at least not life threatening

  • What if you get hit by a strong crosswind while motor is off?

  • Good job!

  • goog job!

  • I'm surprised you didn't have more drag from the non-feathered propeller. I guess you don't get a lot of scoot from it, either?

  • God forbid, but how do you bail out in case of extreme emergency?

  • @MisterSunson You don't. You throw your chute and come down with the craft. Thanks for watching.

  • Dude, you have balls. Hell if i were that high on that thing and the engine shut off i would piss myself and cry.

  • Love it great video! Reminds me of my dad when we used to fly his powered parachute. Good memories, thanks for sharing!

  • Great! how much does it cost?

  • @akudal964 $6995 brand new in 1996.

  • great video!

  • I would rather dig up that runway and put down grass or gravel than land on that shit :/

  • @THEMAN080 You're more than welcome. My shovel is waiting :o)

  • @wrdturkey Touche

  • its nothing more than a hang glider with a frame with a seat, 3 wheel barrow wheels and an engine so you really only need the engine to get off the ground

  • I would like to get one of this flying thing. How are they called?

  • Awesome video. Looks like insane fun.

  • This guy is good

  • Where do you get these

  • @CAMERONM00 Google Northwing. They have a trike called an 'ATF' that I like. You can also Google Magic Trikes or Sky Cycle Trikes. Good luck.

  • Hey where do you get these

  • THANKS FOR YOUR RESPONSE I REALISED MY MISTAKE AS SOON AS I SENT MY MESSAGE, NICE WATCHING THE VIDEO THOUGH THANKS

  • Landing without power is essential and obligatory in the pilots training. After a while it's routine the instructor to turn the power off in unexpexted moments. Even in the final test, one of the tasks you are required to perform is one landing without power.

BTW, very good landing without power, mate! Keep going!

  • me encanta como termina y le tira el : mas o menos con la manito jaja !

  • Is an ultra light fixed wing not an auto gyro!

  • LOL "The air rotors..." and "the rough part of the strip.." Always an excuse with you pilots! :)

  • @ImNotGayproductions ....They're like $3,000 ..... i wouldnt pay more than 500 for one of these !! ...

  • @zPeeNuT 500 bucks wouldnt even get you in the air. The more you pay, the better the quality, the safer you'll be.

  • Nicely done.

  • I like how there is a Karman vortex whistle right as you land.

  • WHYYYY are these things sooooo expensive !?!?!?!?!?

  • @zPeeNuT Cut your cost in half, buy parts, build your own.

  • @ColeFried81 ... lol ... i don't trust myself in building an aircraift let alone fly it, and put my life on the line, on something i wasn't proffesioned in.

  • @ColeFried81 Library. Book. Read. Study. Learn. Build. Done. I'm just sayin man...

  • @zPeeNuT yes u are right... the makers of these toys really charges overpriced...for example like the kitesurfer that shit has nothing in it but it cost like 2000 dollars... and this Ultra plane has nothing in it... just frames and engine..it really expensive.. take the fun out of it..

even the Kayak cost like 700 dollars...why ? sometimes i wonder why they do this to us its ridiculous

  • @zero00tolerance ................... THANK YOUUU !!!! for that price i could fly a Cessna for 2 years

  • I just want to own one of those. Tell me, where can someone buy that aircraft?

  • What is this type of airplane called, and where do I get them?

  • @Rudde47 It's called an ultralight trike. You can goggle it or visit one of my favorite sites - Northwing.

  • Nice landing! Love the restart. The whole thing looks like FUN.

  • the engine failing on liftoff would be the worst as you would have to react more quickly

  • What program do you use to do the titles, I love it. Thanks!

  • i liked that!

  • that looks fun

  • NIce job! Thanks for sharing.

  • DO YOU KNOW WHAT LICENCE IS REQUIRE IN THE UK TO FLY A GYROCOPTER?

  • @lmogden1 Sorry. I don't.

  • @lmogden1 GOOGLE!!!!, im guessing a form of NPPL with a gyrocopter or microlight rating

  • @lmogden1 you do :)

  • @lmogden1 This is not a gyrocopter in the first place. It's a trike which falls in the ultralight airplanes category. And you need the JAR ultralight airplanes lisence (JAR=Joint aviation regulations, common for the entire Europe).

  • What kind of motor has it got??

  • @string3298 340 Kawasaki engine. Most ultralights use a Rotax motor.

  • @wrdturkey awesome job man.....340 has enough power? I always thought bigger...probly wont live to post again but ima try it out !! lol

  • @apbhitman 340 has plenty of power for a small trike. The bigger trikes will require bigger motors. 30 hp is plenty for a single seat ultralight. Thanks for watching.

  • @d0nk3yb0i They can, it's called hang gliding

  • @rocknrolldogg LMFAO!!!! OMFG DUH!! im a dumb ass lol and i dont know why that never crossed my mind lol WOW lol i feel dumb as hell now i gotta go delete that original comment before anybody else sees it!!! lol

  • IS THERE ANYWHERE I CAN BUY THIS, IF YOU KNOW OF A WEBSITE PLEASE POST A LINK, I WOULD LOVE TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THIS

  • Can i fly this with my standard privates license.

  • @MiniclipTV It's an ultralight. We fly under part 103 of the FAA reg. There is no license required (in the U.S.)

  • @wrdturkey wait...i can fly this without a licence?! o_o so i'm 14 and i've been play FSX for 3 years now...and what about an autogyro?

  • Man! That looks like soooo much fun!

  • What kind of trike is that and what wing are you using? And I'm guessing you live in America, so i want to ask if this is a legal FAR Part 103 ultralight? And how much did you pay for it?

  • @gadawg227 It's a Sabre 340 trike with a Sabre 16 SS wing. Yep - it's a legal ultralight. I paid $6995 for it back in 1996. Sorry. They aren't made anymore.

  • Lots of training and hours of practice!!

  • I am a welder and me and my son just watched your clip, do they sell plans? this is something I would love to get into and have my son get excited about and learn as he gets older. did you build your own or buy? is there any good sites for all the parts minus engine I'd prob use an older rotex maybe not anyways great video this makes a depressed day a great day

  • @choochinkaddywompus There's not too many people selling plans in the U.S. There would be too many legal problems if someone didn't built a trike right and ended up getting hurt. (Too many lawyers in America) You can Google trikeplans and see what you can find. Good luck.

  • @causations Thank you very much. It always makes me happy to be able to fly and make videos. I'm glad some like them.

  • you are ... true hero!

  • HEY WLDTURKY IVE BEEN GOIN ROUND VIDEOS TRYIN TO NAIL PILOTS ON BAD FLYING TEACHING BAD THINGS YOU KNOW ' ANYWAYS ITS ALWAYS A PLEASURE TO WATCH YOU FLY BUD HOPE YOU DONT MIND LEAVING NOTES TO YOUR VIDEOS IN HOW TO FLY PROPERLY AND WITH SENSE YOUR VIDEOS REPRESENT WHATS RIGHT ABOUT THIS SPORT .HOPE TO FLY MY REDBACK OR MY SKYCYCLE WITH YA SOMEDAY PILOT FROM MONTANA.BUT I MIGHT HAVE A REP OF BEING A JERK TO SOME OF THESE OTHER VIDEOS,BUT ID RATHER SAY SOMETHING THAN WATCH PEOPLE DIE

  • wow this is fake

  • @intoLife7 ROFLMAO not its not dude. Deadstick is just basically handgliding, unless you think thats fake too? This is the real deal.

  • Nice ;-))

  • Красота мне нравитца.

  • hello does it must to have pilot liscance for this delta motor

  • @ivoini You do not need a pilot's license in the U.S. to fly an ultralight. I'm not sure about Egypt.

  • I have the same trees where I fly. No matter how smooth the flight I always wonder what the trees have planned for me this time. Luckily it's never been dangerous, but just enough to make me pay attention.

  • That is the Greatest camera work for this video,it shows Clearly every important thing u need to see with this vehicle, and what u were trying to explain,i felt i was up there with u.

  • @myleftnutts Thanks left nut. You were up there with me - right beside the right one :o) Thanks for the compliments. Take care.

  • this guy is a real weightshift trike pilot but when the engine quits you dont have always a clear field in front of your aircraft and of cource not his experience..

  • Motor not required to fly, only to get airborne :)

  • Nice one. What a number of people don't realise is that not only is the prop stopped, but it becomes a rather large airbrake - very draggy, and needs a bit more nose down (bar back) to compensate. No problem, but worth a mention. Different to an engine at idle. Unless you've actually done it (I have) the other surprise comes from the whistling from the flying wires. Can take you by surprise if you're not prepared. Excellent video, good camera and confident pilot in his skills. Very instructive!

  • @sandtoftfield Thank you for your compliments.

  • @wrdturkey at 1:17 you were like "this is your capitan speaking, thank you for flying with delta we have arrived to our destination, its 3:00 local time" :) great video

  • That is a beautiful shot man!

  • good piloting !

  • you got guts!!!

  • Are you the Stig?

  • At a fall from that height. I don't think the helmet will be of any use xD.

  • Do you need some certificate to fly this plane/aircraft.

How much does it cost? PLEASE ANSWER!

  • @joar09 There is no license required in the U.S. to fly an ultralight. You should get proper training. You can get an ultralight for about 11 or 12k new.

  • Comment removed

  • @joar09 if you dont pass a training do not try alone to learn is not so easy as it seems and the prices starting for brand new from 10k to 80k depending the model, cosmos, air creation, aeros, revo are some of the best manufacturers..

  • Мне оченнь нравитца этот летательный апарат. А ище больше мастерство пилота, ну просто супер.

  • that thing is so badass!!!!! if I had one I would be taking that shit to the skies every day

  • Fantasic Video! The camera angle was awesome too haha. By the way what is the make/model of the ultralight? Thanks

  • @panzertank15 It's called a Sabre 340 Trike. Not made anymore.

  • @wrdturkey

Do you know any other ultralights that are similar to this? How much does it cost?

  • have you ever considered a gyrocopter? i have a passion for flying i want to know about how you got one of these

  • so weird to fly just with ur seat, anything could happend at that altitude

  • @pitpalak Anything could happen on the ground too. Thanks for watching.

  • @wrdturkey best response ever :p

  • Comment removed

  • @e081194eng LOL! Sounds like a may have had an engine out experience.

  • Good job! I've had one, not planned though. Turned out fine, no injuries or damages. Pinched a hole in the seat though.

  • nice

  • The vid was great! Well done! I had to leave a comment because I laughed out loud when I read the reply that suggested training if you want to fly more than once. I've never heard it put that way before, but it's so true. Thanks for sharing that. I really enjoyed it.

  • do you need a licence to fly them?

  • @ecotts Not in the U.S., but you should get training if you want to fly more than once.

  • @wrdturkey You're so funny. You must've seen my heroic crashes while I was 'piloting' model aircraft. My bewilderment with those causes me to shy (far) away from jumping-in with both feet into ultralights. Seriously. I feel that if I have an underlying timidity toward ultralights that one way or the other it'd manifest itself in a serious error at some point. It is great though to be an armchair pilot seeing these videos on YouTube.

  • @TralfazConstruction Thanks Tralfaz. You can do what pleases you. I really like to fly for fun. Believe me. I'm not perfect, but somehow I manage to live :o) Maybe you should at least take a ride in a Sport Trike. Just a thought.

  • @0851481111 It's called a Sabre Trike.

  • Thanks for putting to rest some of the naysayers - "but what happens if the engine dies?!?" Well, I say, you just find a place to land - and land... They never believe it's that simple, even in a C150, it is that simple...

    Clear skies,

    -7

  • HI: Is this the J-Hole in Jackson?

  • @HarryHydro Nope. Albert's Airfield in Morrisdale, PA.

  • I love it. I am really going to get one one day.

  • Altitude=speed=safe lifting. The only to do just to find LZ.

  • top job well done, awsome piloting

  • naww, he had a wing. kite wing, but a wing(s). nice job flying and filming...

  • That thing is flipping brilliant! what is it???

    Thanks

  • @BBCSHEEPNEWS Probably a PPC (Powered Parachute). I've heard some people can learn in as little as 5 hours. Here in the States, there are very little regulations for ultralights. Safety depends on how you fly. You can make it as dangerous or as safe as you want.

  • Hey nice vid man more please

  • Wicked Good!

  • can these be flown in small regional airports? Or just large fields.

  • @TheA340guy Sure. It all depends on the airspace you are flying in.

  • Great skills by the pilot !
