  • There are two versions of Inyoshintai, they both have lower defensive moves, one form in the middle, and the other at the beggining, however as I stated I do not question what is right or wrong, I see that your School dose it diffrent from ours and that addes to the richness of Budo.

  • thanks for posting. just started iaido a few months ago and this is really helpfull.

  • Thank you for posting this video of your practise, Well done and keep up the good work. Although not the way that we perform these gata. There were however some minor technical issues. For instance Inyoshintai, should have a lower block on from the second seated position. There were others but I am sure your teacher will help you through these issues.

In my mind there is no right or wrong way as long as you are practising sincerly, and you are once again thank you.

  • @dejathorus For the lower block, you are describing "Kaete Inyoshintai" the 11th kata of Shoden. "Inyoshintai" has a forward defensive strike.

  • what is with the music?

  • Good practice, keep it up!

A form of good practice is extremely slow practice, it gives good insight of the forms. If you got an Aibo, use him/her to test all kata with bokuto.

  • a few comments - none are meant to be criticism - I'm still learning too.

on happonme - the first cut after the block should be forehead height, as the guy is wounded and bent over, the second cut should end at belt height.

on kyuhonme - when you go to cut the guys wrist as he is coming shomen, remember that the shin of your back leg should be parallel to the floor - you'll be in a sort of squatting position.

Koranto should be a continuous motion, as if you were walking with no pauses.

  • Be sure to roll your pants up a few times - seeing them below the hakama is like showing your underwear.

remember to look before you cut - you need to see your attacker before you begin your draw.

on yonhonme - try to have the sword drawn 60% of the way before the turn so you can more easily get it out for the cut.

the noto was nicely done - see my video if you want for the proper noto form in testing

  • I also go to the RMB and I just wanted to say our sensei teaches us the way they are teaching in japan. In the ZNKR handbook it is now saying you do not look before you strike, you look as your body is turning and you pull the blade out of their body. then do kirioshi. If you are meaning when he pulls the blade out of the saya then yes, you look as you draw to do the thrust.

  • Since you claim that you do not want to teach with your videos, then you should stop teaching with them.

And IF you want to teach with your videos, and have the courage to name it "proper noto" then AT THE LEAST it should be a proper noto, witch it's not.

Also your comment on "atarito" is wrong.

  • bhoas

Sometimes there are differences within the same stye of iaido. I was merely commenting based on what I have learned. I didn't come here to argue with you or put up with your online power trip.

this is clear and simple, so read - you have no authority, you want to be right, you want to seem important, you want to belittle me.

you like to discuss psychology? I have an advanced degree in it. Research internet trolls and what they do when hiding behind anonymity.

    Then look in a mirror.

  • Well in this case no, we both practice MSR and the "proper" noto you referred to was wrong. Thank you for renaming your video.

Yet you claim wanting to do one thing, - Not Argue - Yet still you do this. Same as the teaching thingy.

Never mind. But its not hard to understand. If you teaches in a public and open forum, and the teaching is wrong. Then kindly realise that this will be scrutinized and mentioned. If you can't handle that, don't teach things that's wrong..

  • Furthermore. I am not hiding behind anonymity. You could easily find my name if you bothered about it.

Second - I don't care about "seeming to be important". I am important in may perspective of real life, therefore I don't need to be this on the intrawebz. And psychology is nothing to discuss, I have too studied it and plenty more subjects as well. *But claiming knowledge* was not my point. The point was understanding and knowing knowledge and its consequences.

    Best regards - Joel Bergmark
