Actually, this isn't too bad. Sure it's not the original ANIME, but this fan-imation looks pretty good to me! i certainly would have bought it ..... in 1982.

Yes, and in front of it is the Battlestar Galactica and later you get to see Tie Fighters.

yes--i slo noticed another similarity---- the gamilon fighters that attacked the earth forces were drawn to look very very similar to the cylon attack cruisers from the original battlestar galactica tv series.
