Dreamcast is only dead in the states. Check gamefaqs DC section for upcoming releases if you dont believe me. VMU has some awesome stuff and is a great platform to learn to code for a handheld on. Battery life? Theres many different battery pack mods for the VMU, I use the simple 9v one. Its cheap and even a mostly dead 9v will last forever in a VMU.

it means the battery on your VMU is dead. You can still save and and image still appears when it's plugged into the controller, but it doesn't work out of the controller. And sometimes your system may forget the date and time.

to add... the batteries CR-2032 (or just 2032) you can get them at the service desk at most grocery stores or radio shack for about $2 a peice or MUCH cheaper on ebay... but you have to wait a week or two for shipping.

your Dreamcast will always forget the date and time if it's been sitting unplugged for a while, because it uses a rechargeable battery to maintain the time and date. so keep it plugged in and remember to keep playing it :)

you burn Dream Explorer to a CD, put it in Dreamcast and it haves all your games, you can put them in to the VMU and you can delete them. thats simple.

VMU is definitely a gem most current consoles don't have. It is very used for game like NFL2K when you can hide your strategies. Currently playing mingame from SegaGT so I earn more cash and uploading them for Carrozeria. It is possible to win a special car if you beat.that mingame. With current technologies, it should be possible to make a colour version of VMU

well actually if you got a game for the dreamcast some of them would have mini games embeded on them when you saved a game or some thing in the game happens (ex.skies of arcadia) but there is also homebrew stuff you can get for the little gadget. also just so ill get it out of the way of course most of the time you have to buy vmu sepratly due to it being a memory card but that applyed to most systems of last generation anyways.

Woah woah, hang on. Do you HAVE to burn things onto CD-Rs or can you burn files onto DVD-Rs? The CD-Rs I have are 6 MegaBytes too small to fit some backup ISOes onto them! Just 6 MB!! The Ebay prices are astronomical in my eyes. 15 quid for a game I could probably get for a fiver somewhere!

The Dreamcasty cannot run DVDs or even CD-RWs, so you have to use CD-Rs. You can get burning software that lets you "underburn" a file so it squeezes onto a CD-R. Look up a website called DChelp.

Dreamcast, oh man.. the save card doubled as a gameboy almost. It was so cool when it came out. Sega had a certain feel about their games, it was very arcade-style, even their RPGs had that arcade feel. You just knew when it was a Sega game.

Dream Explorer can't be sold. It's very easy to burn the disc by yourself though, check the "burn the selfboot image" tutorial in the help section.
