You can't really categorize this process of writing. It depends on the mood of the track, the main topic in the song, the arrangement of the beat, all of that. There ain't really a formula to it all the time. I mean everything in the song has to be directed at the aim you have for the song. If verse 1 is an introduction, why cool down in the second, why not charge it up a notch? In the third, you could ultimately play the back and recap.

Also, I think it's nice if you switch flows every verse.

Personally i don't write about my life, i like to tell stories about what ever, anything from a bank robbery to something goofey like a fucked newspaper route, i'ev never wrote about those but its like something i'd do, also write about social matter, politics. ethics, morals etc. I do a lot like Slick Rick but i have a very different stlye in terms of lyrics, flow etc. Good luck. But just be warned the Industry is fraternal so make sure you know what you want out of this.
