I know, My dad had to go up against them and his car got wrecked and he said it was one of the best races of his life :) shame they're not going anymore and its an even bigger shame that racing is not like it used to be. But i still love it :)

man brings back memories, i remember being at arena essex a few times in the mid-to-late 90s, the suicide squad really lived up to their name.

memory's a bit hazy, but as i recall it: one time there was a guy with a jag XJS who was decimating everything else because of sheer power and weight, then in a later round that day a member of the suicide squad got spun 180 degrees by another car, then went "fuck it", and rammed that jag head on and the jag didn't drive anymore that day. legendary. :D

I'm a Yank...but from what i understand some drivers actually go to win the race (1st to complete the # of laps), but others are more into for the carnage...

You'd be suprised how many of the people who do this acctually run successfull businesses, for those who watch Ant and Decs Saturday Night Takeaway the Beat The Boys Feature the cars for that are all built by a banger driver hence why there so strong. its not exactly a cheep sport to do in the long run either becasue you have to run a transporter and buy the car, spares, tyres and track space before you can do anything. i will admit there are a small minority that do it and are on the dole lol

It's no different from the days of the gladiators - the crowd wants to see glorious death. When I go to banger racing I'm always hoping at least one driver will go all the way.
