If the hydraulics alone could be run on battery power then there would be massive savings. Bateries won't last long with constant stop and go, utilising the brakes to recharge the batteries won't work as the brakes are applied momentarily, it would take a lot more energy to to start momentum than the energy recouped from the brakes. Nice try, maybe recoup battery power from the hydraulics as it has to run,just a thought, maybe propell the truck using hydraulics while on duty, and to slow down.

a hydraulic hybrid would probably be less expensive to build and operate than an electric hybrid in large trucks. UPS is experimenting with both types of drive systems.

I drive a regular diesel and it averages 2.7 mpg. That's not a misprint, 2.7 so these have to save quite a bit of money in the long run.

My first car was a Volvo and it was a great car. I took it off roading many times, wrecked it several times and drove the piss out of it. The thing wouldnt quit. Allways had trouble with the brake lights though.

With gasoline prices in America as high as they are it is a good time for American's to demand their rights and order any car available from any company in the World that meets our clean air requirements. A 6 passenger diesel car or minivan would be a good choice for my family-- . For instance Peugeot diesel cars are not sold here in Northern Florida as far as I know (I've searched Internet) but if you have the bucks you can buy a Volvoe, Mercedes, Volkswagen etc.

Bush doesn't control America's vehicle market- we Americans do. We buy what ever we want when we want to and can even order cars internationally and ship them home. Who controls what can be bought in your country depends on either the Free choice of the people or policies set by your Government .
