i have two oscars that are about 2 years old... they dug a pit, so i thought they were gonna breed.. but now all they do is what seems to me is fight and chase eachother around... and alot of times smash into the hood of the aquarium, which wakes me up in the middle of the night.. what the hell are these bastards doing, ya think? They are probably atleast ten inches.. im about to get rid of them cause they are so annoying now. i used to love them, now i hate them.
It seems your Oscars are doing everything Oscars do. I don't know how big your tank is, but one Oscar needs 55 gallons. My tank is 150g. Im in New Jersey. If you were close I would take them.
Hi so how long did the fighting last?....were they breeding? I have 2 oscars and they just strated fighting like yours did in this vid, they beat each other up pretty bad and now i have a divider in the tank.
The oscars are not doing real harm to eac other, They are mating, they are locking jaws to test the strenght of the mate. As you can see there is a pit in the back of the tank were they are going to lay there eggs, its a tiger pair, congrads. If you want 300 fry I would put them back together
They are not fighting, they are breeding, this is a type of breeding ritual called lip-locking. The locking process can take sometimes over 30 minutes before one fish will break the hold, if the male is the first to break the hold in the battle for strength and dominance, often times the male will not breed and sometimes even kill the female
0zero0zero, not all oscars become pairs. They will pair off when they are juviniles from a group of oscars but having 2 oscars from the pet store put in a tank and then breed can be rare.
2 if you want to keep them in there for ever, and prob like 6 when they are babies and juvinals, but they get to grow up to 10+ inches, so you need a much bigger tank if you're keeping a lot of em
Yea I've heard that three is a bad number of Oscars to have in one tank, because two eventually pair together and start attacking the third one who is left out once they hit puberty or whatever.
The tank size is 150 gallon. I had these Oscars since they were 1 inch long. Now they are 10 and 11 inches. They can be very agressive at times but I LOve Them ...
@scorpion08609 ten and 11 inches? in less than a year? man ive had mine for 6 months since they were less than an inch and they are like 5.5 and 6 inches but i thought they slowed down after the first 6 or seven inches
I thought they might be breeding also until I seen the two oscars attacking the third one. The third oscar had scares, missing scales and was beat pretty bad. I think the two that are pairing would have killed the third oscar.
why are ablinos cheaper? i thought they would be more

thats what happens when you have too many oscars in not a big enough tank, I suggest either get a bigger tank or take out one of your oscars

dude, the person who posted it says the tank is 150 gal. the tank is perfect for 2, not just 1 (3 is a bad number to inherently have though)
I think you might want to add some kind of decoration in there like fake driftwood so they have something to poke at other than each other.
Beautiful fish though:) I love tiger oscars
