@poushkias sorry, i no longer make videos here. if you know how to drop ISO's from DVD's then thats how i did it. another alternative is getting an external dvd drive. if you use Steam at all. they have games there as well.
@jk2owns sorry, i no longer do test kind of videos (this is my new account, im a toy reviewer now) When i hook up via HDMI, i do not sense any choppiness at all.
@kris10ish it depends on the game really, just remember 60 fps doesnt mean everything. some games are set to 30 fps like a few console games out there. most of the games i've tested and said they work, then they work. crysis did not work out too well. i played aion at 15-20 fps and it;s fine to me until too many things were on the screen.
@EddieShreddie 1201n is the old version, get the 1215n. i had 3gb of ram in this video, nothing really special else was added. btw, this is my new account but im unable to do more computer stuff like this because i dont have the money to get computers and go at it.
It supports the 8gb u can actualy see it in the windows, but only 4gb is usable, this is because
1.The cpu has been limited by intel, ass holes
2. power consuption
Asus can release a bios update later on once this type of laptop ages abit because intel doesnt alow it to support 8gb because then people wauldnt be buying newer computers,so maybe a year or so there will be a bios updating allowing the FULL 8gb ram to be %100 usable, well thats all i have to say,lol
information from a friend at asus, it's a lockup from the cpu, intel did this restriction, to cater for low cost computering, so that it will not compete with the next level pc, thats why eee pc range has never been released with 64bit os
HAHAHA, Everyone is wrong, this laptop can handle 8gb on a 64bit version, but you can only use 4gb,so that means that the bios can use the 8gb easily but asus stoped it at 4gb,i think to save power or something
@zxghost No not a glitch but awall set up by asus, just ask them your self. They dont see any reason for the need of 8gb so they only made the limit 4gb,they might release a bios update later on if people realy care that much.
@CMS9000 WHAT YOU DONT KNOW WHAT RAM IS *head explodes* jk xD. you can put 4gb in here but only like 3.25 is readable. and yes, most netbook can only have two but this is an exception because 1201n is stronger than your typical netbook
@rcat230 hey, ill be making a video on this soon because people keep asking me. there are many ways you can do this. dropping the game into an iso format on your desktop is one. and using an external hard drive. if you use steam, it installs it for you once you download it.
@zotape hehe thanks for the comment but i wont think they would...though i know i convinced over 20 people from my videos. they replied back to me saying they bought it and they are happy xD
@badboy707sick i bought mine off amazon, though you can get it at other places like ebay or newegg or even tigerdirect if you live in the US. this netbook comes with 2gb of stock memory. not all netbook can have more than 2gb of ram but this one can have 4 max.
@henrykeith69 i have left 4 dead 2 and it works fine but i cant make a video right now, im vacationing in brazil. i mean i can try but my upload rate would take forever to load on the net.
@mikeccuk2006 n10j was so great before this one game out, i really wanted it but im glad i waited. i can overclock as well but all my videos are stock. i dont see much improvement even after oc. all my drivers are up to date like my ion drivers are the latest.
@galeanoandres it doesnt get that hot for me, if you keep it on power save when you're not doing much, will keep it cool. using a laptop cooler is nice but i dont always use it.
@galeanoandres answer of the day. people have already tested wow and im guessing about 20-30 frames at decent setting. i have played aion on this netbook and got pretty good result. wow can run on the shittiest computer. though like i said, i dont recommend using it as a replacement for a gaming computer. it's good for on the go but dont use it for heavy raids.
@DliciousCo there are many ways to do it. either you find a downloadable version of the game or drop the game into an iso format using software like magiciso or other softwares then using daemon tools to mount that iso to install the game.
Thanks for your fast reply, it sounds easy for you but I just got the 1201N and I was wondering if there were some tuts to use iso files and other tools to make it work. ( I always had a pc or laptop with cd-drive). Oh well, enjoying your vids, I would like to see some more gametests and taekwondo vids ( I also practice taekwondo, ITF style). Do you have the standard 2gb or 3-4gb btw? =)
@BoostH3Cheap i can try to make the video but you will have to wait a bit, i have a bit of study to do since i have finals coming up. i try to ignore my older videos as...they are...ugh...anyways, i have 3gb since i stole a 2gb stick that i had in my older netbook when i upgraded it.
Could you do a tutorial how to install the games to your notebook because you dont have a cd/dvd drive. Also i would like to see you test halo 2, fifa or other ea sport game or gta san andreas.
is this computer suitable for school work? i was thinking about getting one for next year, and it would be nice to be able to play games when i'm travelling. is it comfortable to write on and how long is the battery life (writing/surfing the net AND gaming)? hope i didn't ask for too much there =P
@kungharry well, netbooks are very portable and i use it for school. it's very comfortable though i only have a problem with the fingerprint magnet that it is. the battery life is quite average for a netbook though there are some that can last 10 hours. i do write a lot and i feel comfortable typing for a long time. gaming feels great too xD
@zxghost ok, i'll have to check with the school i'm starting next term if i can use one... i guess i'll mostly use it for projects/essays, but not notetaking though, as i think i type pretty loudly... but perhaps a netbook doesn't make much noise compared to a normal keyboard? isn't it hard in ex science lesson when u need to copy a picture? "the battery llife is quite average for anetbook" can u give that in hours please? 5h writing, 2h gaming?
@kungharry the keyboard to me is actually very quiet when i type. if you do all power saving option, you should get about 3-4 hours and when you turn everything on, 2-3 hour of gaming. if you dont need wifi and where wifi is not available, turn that off as well, and bluetooth, it will increase battery life
@zxghost oh, that's quite alot. does disabling bluetooth and wifi (wait, is wifi what u have at home or when you're on the road? O.o) help alot? thanks alot for answering my questions :D
@kungharry disabling bluetooth and wifi on your computer...there is an option to have all of them off, wifi on, bluetooth on, or both on. i only say this because when you dont need to use them or do not have access to the internet or even bluetooth devices, might as well turn them off
In all seriousness, this is possibly the most reliable video in terms of gaming on the 1201n. You've given me hope on my new Eee PC, which should be arriving this Friday!
Once again, thanks for the brilliant video. You've basically saved my life.
@kreggspam JUSTICE STOMP!!! thank for the comment xD i hope you enjoy this awesome netbook and remember to get the adobe flash player 10.1 beta for the HD experience
this a odd request but i want you try cafe world on face book. i have an computer that has the intel GMA card. i thought that cafe world should't have any problems running on the GMA but every time i run the game my computer start heating up.... and the graphicas is definitely crappy... y currently have a lenovo Y530... pretty decent notebook but not a very good graphics card....
@macross70002001 thats a very odd request...my older netbook had no problems playing any of those facebook games and it ran an intel gma 945 or...was it a 950 but whatever. i can tell you right now that with this nvidia ion, it will run no matter what. facebook games dont require anything special at all to play anyways
@SuperAfsari i believe there is a video up with someone doing that test. all i can tell you is that the vents do get pretty hot during super performance mode but it's not as bad as my neighbors on my dork table at school. my friend's computer vent can cook my sandwich
I like the specs but not the battery life (I hear it only lasts about three hours or so) and at 12", I feel I might as well get a 13" laptop or something. Those two points make it no longer sensible to get a netbook over a laptop to me.
@ashxc i get that a lot, the battery runs fine for me, 3-5 hours. it's a bit thinner and smaller than a laptop with crappy specs. but it;'s up to you man, you get what you need in order to do the things you want.
Hmmm...I thought the Surf and the 701 came out at about the same time. I had the 701, though. It's a piece of shit now compared to the current market. I could spit and shit at once just thinking about how much money I spent two years ago and what quality netbook I could get today for the same amount! X_X
@ashxc i've seen 900's going under 100. 900's arent that special anyways. i believe the 1201n is the best by far though it's a little bigger than a typical netbook
@ashxc didnt think my voice is that good xD. netbooks are defined by an underpowered laptop for the sake of going on the internet. though who knows, we might have a 9 inch netbook with the new core i7 with 6 cores and clocked at 3ghz, very very possible
U dare call this crap? :D My laptop peaks 100% CPU and lags while watching this youtube! I call it a high tech heater (it hums like crazy)! Anyway, do you recommend this netbook for net browsing/youtube/ office (word, excell, powerpoint) stuff?
@viciokas1993 thats whats the thing is man, it's a netbook, it's perfect for watching youtube especially in HD and good for the eyes for web browsing.
@chriskuo i currently have 3gb of ram and i have overclocked this netbook to 2ghz though i dont always do it. the max you can go from what i read is 2.1 but i highly do not recommend it
the glossy screen just kills it for me, when you are outside it is so difficult to use this netbook, screen brightness has to be at max to barely see stuff.
@Shooter2o3 im not a big starcraft player because it's just way too competitive for me but i might give it a shot when it comes out. i think this netbook can handle it
Hi there..if it doesn't give u much work..can u try Drift City? It's a free racing mmorpg (cell shaded) so u just need to download it and install (obvious xD)..I'm thinking about buying this netbook for games/school because i don't have a pc and my current laptop sucks and it's too heavy. I cant go to something expensive and big so i think this works perfectly fine for me.. Good videos ^^
@mykeymike i tried playing one gamecube game...not working well. the ps2 and dolphin are just a little too much for this. they require too much cpu in order to play
I have a question...can i run that games on asus eee pc 1005ha??

@DediXD i already said i wont try it since i dont have a account, it should work fine
zxghost 1 year ago
@zxghost i know that it would work fine
but i need a serious test in a raid
DediXD 1 year ago
@DediXD i dont think a netbook is great for SERIOUS raids...you should raid on a desktop...i would test but i dont play wow anymore, i gave up on it
zxghost 1 year ago
this a odd request but i want you try cafe world on face book. i have an computer that has the intel GMA card. i thought that cafe world should't have any problems running on the GMA but every time i run the game my computer start heating up.... and the graphicas is definitely crappy... y currently have a lenovo Y530... pretty decent notebook but not a very good graphics card....
macross70002001 1 year ago
@macross70002001 thats a very odd request...my older netbook had no problems playing any of those facebook games and it ran an intel gma 945 or...was it a 950 but whatever. i can tell you right now that with this nvidia ion, it will run no matter what. facebook games dont require anything special at all to play anyways

hows temperature levels during intensive play?
SuperAfsari 1 year ago
@SuperAfsari i believe there is a video up with someone doing that test. all i can tell you is that the vents do get pretty hot during super performance mode but it's not as bad as my neighbors on my dork table at school. my friend's computer vent can cook my sandwich

Thanks for the video, it was very informing.
Can you do sims 3 and/or maplestory?
Also whats the average battery life you get?
wheaty123 1 year ago
@wheaty123 im trying to get sims 3 but i will NOT do maplestory, anyone can play that
zxghost 1 year ago
Cool thanks, I suppose that is true.
wheaty123 1 year ago
@wheaty123 give me a couple days, im getting sim 3 really soon and ill start recording another video
zxghost 1 year ago
@zxghost Sure, I don't mind in the slightest how long you take.
wheaty123 1 year ago
good viedo but i think we can only see your posters in your room :D
fjcc32 1 year ago
@fjcc32 yea i know, the screen is freaking too glossy but my posters are bad ass! then again, i love my game room so much =D
zxghost 1 year ago
Good vid, getting this netbook today, looking forward to trying a few games on it here and there. Hoping L4D runs decently on it.
Krakn3Dfx 1 year ago
@Krakn3Dfx i saw a guy play l4d on it, it should run okay, i was gonna test it for myself but i have no cash
zxghost 1 year ago
I like the specs but not the battery life (I hear it only lasts about three hours or so) and at 12", I feel I might as well get a 13" laptop or something. Those two points make it no longer sensible to get a netbook over a laptop to me.
ashxc 1 year ago
@ashxc i get that a lot, the battery runs fine for me, 3-5 hours. it's a bit thinner and smaller than a laptop with crappy specs. but it;'s up to you man, you get what you need in order to do the things you want.

Hmmm...I thought the Surf and the 701 came out at about the same time. I had the 701, though. It's a piece of shit now compared to the current market. I could spit and shit at once just thinking about how much money I spent two years ago and what quality netbook I could get today for the same amount! X_X
ashxc 1 year ago
@ashxc i've seen 900's going under 100. 900's arent that special anyways. i believe the 1201n is the best by far though it's a little bigger than a typical netbook
zxghost 1 year ago
It wasn't too long ago that I had the first generation Eee. -_-
ashxc 1 year ago
@ashxc LOL the 2g surf? wow thats old xD i still have my 901 and i see people with 701's all over the place
zxghost 1 year ago
Impressive. I'm surprised. I wonder where netbooks will be this time next year? Oh, obsolescence! Nice voice and face too.
ashxc 1 year ago
@ashxc didnt think my voice is that good xD. netbooks are defined by an underpowered laptop for the sake of going on the internet. though who knows, we might have a 9 inch netbook with the new core i7 with 6 cores and clocked at 3ghz, very very possible
zxghost 1 year ago
U dare call this crap? :D My laptop peaks 100% CPU and lags while watching this youtube! I call it a high tech heater (it hums like crazy)! Anyway, do you recommend this netbook for net browsing/youtube/ office (word, excell, powerpoint) stuff?
viciokas1993 1 year ago
@viciokas1993 thats whats the thing is man, it's a netbook, it's perfect for watching youtube especially in HD and good for the eyes for web browsing.
zxghost 1 year ago
@zxghost But what about office stuff? I need it for school too and i dont want to be disappointed afterwards. Did it come with office pack?
viciokas1993 1 year ago
hey did you upgrade your Ram or anything else like overclock your asus1201N?
Thanks
chriskuo 1 year ago
@chriskuo i currently have 3gb of ram and i have overclocked this netbook to 2ghz though i dont always do it. the max you can go from what i read is 2.1 but i highly do not recommend it
zxghost 1 year ago
@zxghost Hmm i see how much was it to upgrade it to 3 gb of ram?
I wana play borderlands w/o overclocking it do you think that's possible?
thanks a lot for your reply!
chriskuo 1 year ago
the glossy screen just kills it for me, when you are outside it is so difficult to use this netbook, screen brightness has to be at max to barely see stuff.
nicoargca 1 year ago
@nicoargca it hasnt really been a big problem only when i record though there are screen protectors out there with anti glare if that helps

how hot does the laptop while playing?
and
how much load is the atom handling? full 100%?
comebackata2 2 years ago
@comebackata2 it pumps out quite a bit of heat but not as bad as my friends' laptop at school. the atom cant handle so much since it's only so strong
zxghost 2 years ago
@zxghost,
I meant while playing those games what is the cpu's usage activity? (in task manager)
comebackata2 2 years ago
@comebackata2 i cant see it when the game is up because it requires full screen to get the full performance. im guessing 80%+ depending on the game
zxghost 2 years ago
Dude are you gonna get starcraft 2? I wonder if this computer can handle it?
Shooter2o3 2 years ago
@Shooter2o3 im not a big starcraft player because it's just way too competitive for me but i might give it a shot when it comes out. i think this netbook can handle it
zxghost 2 years ago
awesome, yeah its competitve but it gets pretty easy once u get used to it. I'm torn between this Asus and the MSI Wind12 U230. =/
Shooter2o3 2 years ago
thanks : ) good testings! x)
paulinhuf 2 years ago
Hi there..if it doesn't give u much work..can u try Drift City? It's a free racing mmorpg (cell shaded) so u just need to download it and install (obvious xD)..I'm thinking about buying this netbook for games/school because i don't have a pc and my current laptop sucks and it's too heavy. I cant go to something expensive and big so i think this works perfectly fine for me.. Good videos ^^
paulinhuf 2 years ago
@paulinhuf ill try to do my best on this one, i got a lot of games to run over xD
zxghost 2 years ago
Looking Great!! Do you think you can use the Dolphin Emu on this 1201N for playing the Wee Games.?
mykeymike 2 years ago
@mykeymike i tried playing one gamecube game...not working well. the ps2 and dolphin are just a little too much for this. they require too much cpu in order to play
