is it ok to mix jm4 in other guitar fx i got my pedal board already but what i do not have is a looper.. im choosing between boss rc-30 and a digitech jaman., then is saw this vid..which is which of the three? tnx
I am not decided yet between the Line 6 JM4, and the Digitech JamMan JML2
what are the main differences between the two?
Can I sing with a microphone while playing (soloing) over a loop and the sound be projected out of the amp simultaneously?
Also, Can I record myself with a camera (or different method) If I am to record my voice while playing (soloing)? I want to use this for youtube video of my playing.
I have to say this line 6 looper blows the competition away. I should have known. I just traded one of my old line 6 pedals for A new digitech looper (jamman)and it really sucks bad.Its great if you only use clean channel, but if you use any distortion at all it double distorts and sounds worst than horrible.Line 6 is great stuff.
Hi Robert - As always, I enjoy your video contributions. I'd like to know how the JM4 plays and sounds with regular guitar (tube or SS) amps as the backline? This is important to me, because i don't want to pick one of these up if it's only workable via direct recording and/or some sort of studio FRFR setup. Additionally, how do the backing tracks sound going through a guitar amp?
that pedal is awsome...so was his skill as a guitarist, but im afraid that i find it hard to listen to him because he shows no real emotion or personlity so his voice shows out to be boring.........
u can keep loops seperate in boss rc50 just dont overlap ( overdub. ) is that what u ask? how to keep each extra overdub as a seperatable loop? ? no u cant.
Does anyone know of a loop pedal/unit that works like a "tracking" sketch pad... like it would keep at least a few of the loops separate so I could drop them in the computer later as individual tracks if I like the ideas?
Seems most keep merging as they record each pass.
I just can't see building something great and them not being able to use the parts individually in the computer.
If not, then that is the next options they need to add the these great pedals.
You can export the tracks individually of the JM4. During the mix down just fade out the other tracks and import them to your DAW as separate tracks, all the tracks should line up.
@generatemusic Hey sorry, I guess I misunderstood your question. Individual guitar takes cannot be separated. Just the entire guitar track itself can. (Separate from Drums and/or Mic tracks). But you probably already know that by now, and yea I do own a JM4.
@generatemusic Yeah Rotren is right, the Boss RC-50 has 3 'phrases' on which you can store loops. So basically you got 3 'Tracks'. I got the Boss RC-50 and I must say it's all I ever wanted.
try the boss RC pedals. I use the 20, but the 2 is a good unit, the 50 is incredible, and they have aux out, so you can tap the signal with a control station such as a PC. The software would be the issue after this...
@generatemusic The Electro harmonix 2880 has a multitrack looper. You need a separate foot controller (made specifically for this pedal) to really make it effective.
Definitely something to look forward to. Digital Performer has a feature called Polar that does RAM based loop recording that does this, but it's not on a pedal of course which would be great.
@generatemusic Electro harmonix 2880, its not cheap but it will do what you want. On a budget? try the Digitech gnx3, it will keep up to eight tracks seperate BUT its a bit more difficult to use.
@generatemusic You can actually use the new Logic Main Stage feature with a Apogee footcontroller to individually control tracks in real time. I think you can even do it to a metronome synced in logic via in ear as a separate channel if you want to get your live tracking super tight.
Does each looped part stay separate so you can drop them into the computer if you like the parts, or does it all get mixed together in one audio file?
If not, s there such a loop pedal available? It would be great to even offer at least 3 tracks that stayed separate.
Excellent presentation! And you play beautifully! Thanks for the demo. I'm sold! How about some country and western for an old Texas boy? I know you can play it!
Excellent video. I appreciate you putting it together. I have been having trouble recording to the sd card to transfer to my computer. Have you had any success with transferring your recordings?
@rockrollmachine i know that you press the save btton and then you scroll down to save to sd card. i have not tried this yet but im guessing you can get the sd cards recordings on itunes then burn a cd of your own music if you want. i hope this helps
If I'm in a trio but I need a rhythm guitar being played the whole time, can I record it to a "click" instead of a designated drum beat? If so, can the real drummer hear this click without it coming through the amp somehow?
@jacklovesmanutd You can't connect it to a computer, but you can use an SD memory card for increased storage and for adding more jam tracks to the JM4.
@DubaiGuy05 You have analog outputs like any other unit. I haven't tried transferring the files to my computer but I imagine they are just WAV files - does anyone know?
Hi rotren, yesterday i was at a music store and trying to figure out JM4's drum. I tried some drum there are many demo but i want rid off bass or other enstruments. Is there any option play only rhythm in it? Thanks for nice video. Peace.
what kind of cable r u using and what amp i dont know if it will work with my peavey vypyr 30 that's the only amp i have please tell me if it will work with the vypyr.
with the rc2 when i want to clear the memory, to record a new loop, the old one starts playing for 3 secs. how do you get around that? i can't use my hands, just my foot. i'm playing live. if you could tell me how to get around that the rc2 would work
