Jay what is your success rate on overlifting curtained locks ? i'm using this method whilst on warrants and getting 5 out of 10 (ish) with wires bought from you ) How much of a success rate is it possible to hope for ? cheers mate, excellent videos.
@steveoxo 70 to 80% is about right for the wires. It will generally come down to the lever configuration of the lock, and also taking into account time allowed for trying the wires until moving onto other techniques?
So how common are these type of locks in britain? Never seen one like this in the us that wasn't ancient. I always thought locks with that type of keyway were warded. Apparantly not.
Excellent video. Tell me what is the difference between a curtained lock and a non curtained lock? How can you tell, if the lock is in a door for example. New to picking so gathering info.
When you look into the keyway you will see the curtain, a chrome, silver, or brass ring on the inner of the round (stem) part of the keyway. when the key is inserted this turns the wheel which then makes bolt contact to unlock.
fantastic tutorial, very clear and well explained, 5*, i like the idea of instead of a full length overlifter to lift the whole pack you have a shorter overlifter so to lift half the pack to allow for high/low lift levers
