After I gave my life to CHRIST, I became saddened at the fact that I couldn't listen to bands like that anymore. I prayed to GOD to help me find metal that was good, that represented him. About a day later, I found Brian Welch, I found Demon Hunter, RED, Stryper, As I Lay Dying, etc. They brought me closer to GOD.

I'm not a christian and I don't really take to any organized religion but I grew up loving Stryper for the music. They're still a great band. It was positive heavy music and I just accepted it that way. Everyone should believe what they want without negative backlash.

Either way, I always liked that Stryper had fun with their music, and were open about their beliefs, but they didn't look down on or deny anyone who embraced other beliefs (like me). It's just "This is who we are with no apologies, but if you're not into Christianity and you're just here for the music, we're okay with that too."...

There is NOTHING wrong with doing the covers that Stryper has chosen to do. They did not pick "bad songs" as their covers. I'm saddened to see how quickly people claiming Christian love out of one side of their mouth, turning and judging their brothers for covering secular songs out the other. I love Stryper & how their lyrics are more bold and in your face than typical christian music. They do that intentionally to get people to really look inside themselves, take spiritual inventory, & make changes where needed ~ and everyone needs different things at different times! But like with most art, you have to see through the symbolism and figure out what it means to you. As christians, we are lucky to have the Holy Spirit on our side to help us decifer the meat & potatoes from the fluff.

I've been a Stryper fan since 1989 and these guys absolutely blew my mind. First tape I owned was In God We Trust. Then I was on a quest to get every album they made. 23 years later I not only listen to Stryper, but I turn my friends on to them. This song is more metal than the most metal song out there, and this was in 1990! It still is as powerful than ever! Forget the crap that's played today it can't ever hold a candle to Stryper. Almost 30 years and we still talk about STRYPER!

@mrcooldude964 My take on the concept of the Stryper album "The Covering", is that it is an attempt to evangelize the secular metal community. The song "God" (the very last track) is essentially a prayer that asksGod to "forgive them for know not what they do" to cover their sin. And even though I know what their intent was, I still couldn't listen to some of the songs.

When you hear these tunes they laid down twenty some years ago you can realize how cutting edge Stryper really was, especailly for a Christian band. They blazed a trail for today's musicians and are still going strong, today. Keep rocking for the One who is the Rock!
@diegofkda Yeah. On a side note I just got my Mesa Quad and it sounds just like Stryper but I have to figure out how to clean it up a little. Supposed to get a Furman power conditioner that cleans up the line. Otherwise it still sounds good, harmonics are just like this. REAL HAPPY.

To be a Christian is to be a follower and believer of the teachings of Jesus Christ. I love Stryper & how their lyrics are more bold and in your face than typical christian music. They do that intentionally to get people to really look inside themselves, take spiritual inventory, & make changes where needed ~ and everyone needs different things at different times! But like with most art, you have to see through the symbolism and figure out what it means to you. As christians, we are lucky to have the Holy Spirit on our side to help us decifer the meat & potatoes from the fluff.

I've been a Stryper fan since 1989 and these guys absolutely blew my mind. First tape I owned was In God We Trust. Then I was on a quest to get every album they made. 23 years later I not only listen to Stryper, but I turn my friends on to them. This song is more metal than the most metal song out there, and this was in 1990! It still is as powerful than ever! Forget the crap that's played today it can't ever hold a candle to Stryper. Almost 30 years and we still talk about STRYPER!

The song "God" (the very last track) is essentially a prayer that asksGod to "forgive them for know not what they do" to cover their sin. And even though I know what their intent was, I still couldn't listen to some of the songs.

Extremely tallented musicians and really nice guys. I have been a Stryper fan since the 80's. When you hear these tunes they laid down twenty some years ago you can realize how cutting edge Stryper really was, especailly for a Christian band. They blazed a trail for today's musicians and are still going strong, today. Keep rocking for the One who is the Rock!
