Inoki was the real deal he was a pro Wrestler but he was a very skilled martial artists in several disciplines he even Fought ALi Inoki is a true badass
If this is from 2000 then why is the quality so horrible? Did someone record it on a VHS tape, set the tape on fire, wipe their ass with it, and then rip it?
@AmAyznAzn it's Renzo. there's other vids with their introductions showing that it's Renzo and no Rickson. Besides easiest way to tell is Rickson looks very uncomfortable standing up using just the push kick whereas Renzo has solid kickboxing skills and looks at home both on feet and on the ground.
@panther2552 he has non existant kickboxing skills but can throw a kick and a punch(not the same thing). The difference is that renzo took fights he knew he might lose(and did) whereas rickson only fought clowns who couldnt fight sleep.
i do brazilian jiu jitsue and train with one of the gracies !!! no lie i train with carlson gracie the most intense training im a yellow belt and in a month a grey belt!!!
What i acutally love is all these people hating on pro wrestling who the hell doesnt think the rock or stone cold would beat the hell out of some of the hw in mma? Seriously most pro wrestlers would beat the crap out of mma fighters such cause of there size and strength. Look at lesner and lashley, not to mention the fact that most wreslters did wrestling in the school years. Im not a fan of any of the gracies but it nice to see them take part in a good show for fans.
Man i would love to see these anti pro wrestlers last in the training of the these athletes some train just as hard or even harder than some MMA and if it wasn't for wrestling guys like brock lesnar wouldn't be UFC champ yes its fake but that isn't a padded ring that stuff hurts try doing that several nights a week then talk about how fake it is
@superparka85 I think most people would be surprised that great all-time MMA fighters like Dan Severn, Ken Shamrock, Masakatsu Funaki, Minoru Suzuki, or Kazushi Sakuraba are pro wrestlers.
(If you didn't know, when Severn won UFC 5, the UFC Superfight Title at UFC 6 and UFC 9, the Ultimate Ultimate Tournament 95, and the UFC Heavyweight title, he had already won the NWA World Heavyweight Championship.)
Besides, I dare you to go to the New Japan Pro Wrestling Dojo and survive.
Whether anyone wants to admit it or not, pro wrestling is just as linked to MMA and boxing as any other combat sport or martial art, especially in Japan.
Inoki is a pioneer of the sport of MMA. In fact, he invented the term MMA to differntiate it from Pro Wrestling in Japan. Tell me, when Fedor and Shinya Aoki have their little 'play fight' exhibitions, are they lowering themselves from your almighty pedestal of acceptance? How does this in anyway differ?
Not to mention the Gracies were taught Judo from a carnival pro wrestler from Japan. If any of you ignorant MMA marks knew half of the influence and cross between MMA and Pro Wrestling your pure idea of this untainted sport would be soiled.
Yes, it is a work. It is also true that Maeda travelled to fight (challenge) and learn. He did not only do Judo but developed an all round fighting system. He spoke in his book of using front kicks to set up takedowns and the effectiveness of elbows close range. He had 1000s of sparring matches and challenges, losing occasionally and incorporating new tech, esp those to help him fight bigger people. The Gracies took not only the style but also the Maeda challenge, inflated record etc

Man, Machinda trained in the New Japan Pro Wrestling dojo, he worked a few matches even. Look at Josh Barnett, a former wrestler turned MMA fighter's mark on women's MMA, all of them trained by him are easily in the top 10 women's fighters in the world. Antonio Inoki's a legend in both pro wrestling AND MMA. Lesnar's success speaks for itself. Honestly, the cardio regements that GOOD Pro Wrestlers undergo is probably the hardest out there, just give it thought, hope that didn't come off rude. .
k its obviously a work. i dunno why some people are dissing up renzo for doing the show. pro wrestling is seen completely differently in japan. here it's seen a joke , there it's respected.
why? it's a pro wrestling match. nothing wrong with him exspanding his horizons. tons of MMA fighters have done pro wrestling. and many pro wrestlers have had success in MMA, top of which being Sakuraba of course.
i think when they learned from Maeda it was judo but the name was still somthing jujitsu and some moves that were removed from competition judo remained in BJJ
I'm amazed how little of you know the history of BJJ.
Maeda an acomplished Judoka traveled all across the world challenging other styles in fights and training with all different styles most notably Catch wrestling in England. then he went to Brazil taught the Gracies who then refined it more into Gracie Jiu-Jitsu
It was a nice pro wrestling match showing a different mix of variations.
Don't get me wrong. I do think Antonio Inoki was a guy that had a lot of balls and in his prime could do wonders, but I don't think he had the technical skills of someone like Renzo in a grappling match.
As I mentioned, Inoki has real guts but was not the best pro wrestler in his day. That is my opinion, but obviously knows moves that mights be really effective.
For a moment there I was really enjoying that. I thought it was a shoot until I saw Inoki apply the adominal stretch. Still some exciting grappling though.
