A great song and this is a great song, can have lots of interpreters each bringing something to it. I love JDG and I think he has a good crack at it.Matrgaret Mac.
this is the new version of this song, 10,000 times more powerful than the already powerful standard. This song in combination with the movie is the most potent
best french film since audiards last film, he is the best french director in years, and this version of the song is great, and its jimmie dale gilmore - who played smokie in the big lebowski - what a great surprise and a cool link between two legendary films. class.
As near to perfect as films get and although not extravagant by any means, one of the greatest endings I have seen in some time..... Best French film since La Haine, which is certainly HIGH praise.
this music goes so well with the last scene...I love when you see him walking down the street and all his goons are following slowly in their high end cars.
The movie was great, should've won the oscar. It's good to see a movie where Arabs aren't terrorists and showing them as any other race trying to get by in this world even if it's illegal activities. Love how the Arabs triumph at the end.
Saw it last night and loved it. I would highly recommend one of Jacques Audiard's previous movie called Read my lips (Sur mes levres) with Vincent Cassel (la Haine) and Emmanuelle Devos. Great acting, strong story too, a must see.
I'd recommend to see all his movies, am a big fan.
I just came back from watching the film - extraordinaire! Where the Godfather stopped and talked about evil, this piece just got on with it. Never mind the bollocks, here come the Muslims! BEST cover ever.
best movie ever... seriously, french cinematography is back in force with that one. From the same director, you need to watch "De battre mon coeur s'est arrêté"
Great version. Like "thpaine1950", it was the first time I ever heard of Jimmy Dale Gilmore. It was playing overhead at a music store. This song was written by the German composer Kurt Weil in the 1920's and was from a musical called, "Three Penny Opera". Mack the Knife killer. In reference to Lottie Lenya, that's Weil's wife who also performed this song.
this version is bout my favorite of "Mack the knife", something about it just really does it for me. I will be pursuing Jimmy Gilmores music now. Heard this song at the end of the film "A Prophet"
best final ever, is sergio leone's dream

Whoever said that Kurt Weill would be displeased by this seems to have missed
who Kurt Weill was. The mark of this classic musical work is its timelessness and
its adaptability to a variety of moods and modes. As an artist I can imagine that
KW would be proud and pleased that his work survives and lends itself to
this extraordinary interpretation, deeply enriched by the slide guitar accompaniment and the gifts of JDG.

This or The White Ribbon deserved the win more than El Secreto De Sus Ojos (which is good as well, but not in the same league).
