Both cars are fast. But the vette had no chance catching the GT on the straights. The GT is a mid-engine car, and can change directions much quicker than the vette.
This wasn't about the cars, it was about the fact that the driver of the Z06 wasn't quite as aggressive as the guy in the GT. But yes, the GT is a little faster than the Z06, but you can also buy two or three Z06's for the cost of one GT. A fairer comparison would be the GT vs. the new ZR1.

the new style c6 z06 came straight from the factory with a 7.0 liter 427. The regular c6 has a 6.0 liter or ls2. You need to do a little more research.
but a GT is not faster than the new one and if you supercharge the 7.0L in the new Z06 you get almost twice the power of the GT and lose no reliablity. In fact look up the reliabilty of a GT you'll be surpised or dissapointted one of the two

Yes, the Z06 offers better bang for the buck on a racing basis, but ive heard NOTHING but bad reviews concerning its ease to drive, and i've heard NOTHING but good reviews about the GT in the same aspect. also, the GT has a slightly faster 0-60 and higher top speed.

I have driven pretty much everything and a GT stands out in my mind because it just goes and keeps going! The viper handles like a grand caravan. The Z06 is a good car but it is not quite there yet. The interior suck as far as usability, whereas the GT is all function. It's a race car!
Gms on a a budget the GT is about twice as much as the Z06 so its interior better be better. Both cars a badass but the Ford will meet its match with the ZR1 6.2 liter iron blocks 650hp ready to take an increase in boost. No replacement for both displacement and boost.
They don't come 650 HP stock though. Go and look at the 0-200 shoot out. The Lingenfelter Zo6 did not come close to the Veyron's 0-200 time. BUT the GT 100 Twin turbo would have. (It was damaged in a film shoot a few days earlier and was not available)
It has already beat the Bugatti Veyron, Saleen S7 and the Dodge Viper Hennesy 1000. To 100, 120, 150, 200 and 250! The Zo6 has not a chance.
Actually Fords in worse shape financially plus the ZR1 does not have an LS7 motor like the Z06. It's a 6.2 liter iron block not a 7 liter aluminum which is stronger and built for boost and yes it will come with 650hp from the factory. If that doesn't work then stuff GMs new lSX block which is rated to withstand 2500hp which none of the cars you mentioned have ever achieved. Oh and don't place so much faith in magazines I made that mistake long ago.

You guys need to check out the Ford GT TT (Twin Turbo) I 4got what company built them. I know they're in Florida. All I can say is wow. I think they were rated around 1100-1200 HP. Can't remember and 4got to put it in favorites.

Its also smaller than the Corvette (7.0 L to the GT's 5.4 L)yet still produces more horsepower...but above all of this, that Vette engine has such a beautiful soundtrack, its like Yo-Yo Ma and his cello stuffed into an engine, only 10x better
the only reason a ford gt has more hp is because it has a supercharger and the z06 does not. If you put a superchager on a z06 it will make 650+hp. plus the base c6 is a sports car the z06 is a supercar every car mag. says it even top gear says it and that show is from england. plus z06's are almost even with the ford gt the gt is slightly quicker in a straight line but on a track a z06 will get better times. and the z06 is $65k and the gt is $154K.

These are both beautiful and awesome cars. i dont think the ford GT was goin balls to the walls the whole time, and thats the reason why the vette was playing with the accelerator a lot. its just two cars dickin' around on the highway. personally, the C6 ZO6 is my favorite car. you cant get that kind of performance for that kind of money (out of the box) anywhere.
The bottom line is that both of these cars are fairly cheap and are a HUGE BARGAIN because they are both fantastic cars. Although I love exotics I also love American sheet metal. Theres a golden glove feeling that you get with em just like in Ferraris.
To prove my point at the top speed, piston length and hp, look at motor-trend's comparison of the GT, Vette, and Viper. and notice in the quarter mile that the Vette took off faster, but by each marker in the 1/4 miles the GT had a higher speed
Also, the Vette top speed is 187, NOT 198, whereas the GT top speed is 206, during the conceptual stage of development the GT continued to rise well above 212 mph, however the devlopers decided to set the limiter at 206 to keep hot-heads from frying their expensive mid-engine motor. Truthfully, the Vette is a better car for the price paid, but it simply cant compete with the GT outside of a 1/4 mile race.
The reason the GT loses in the quarter is because the ford engines were changed from GM's origional designs years ago and given longer piston strokes that provide more power in less strokes, but as a result wont rap up rpm as fast, thus raising high end torque while sacerficing low end torque.
500 of ft torque? RARE ENGINE! with 3.2 from 0-62 this is a car you cannot compare with corvette.. the GT a Super exotics car no way the corvette can compete with the GT drag race lap race...etc
First off, the gt has 550hp stock, Z06 has 400 for the respective year. The Shelby Cobra alone has 475hp. Second, the GT is designed for lap races with specially designed SVT suspension which a stock vette cant even dream of touching.

Both cars are fast. But the vette had no chance catching the GT on the straights. The GT is a mid-engine car, and can change directions much quicker than the vette.

This wasn't about the cars, it was about the fact that the driver of the Z06 wasn't quite as aggressive as the guy in the GT. But yes, the GT is a little faster than the Z06, but you can also buy two or three Z06's for the cost of one GT. A fairer comparison would be the GT vs. the new ZR1.

These guys can drive...but that Bob & Weave shit thru thick traffic is a bit nutso. Other than that, The Ford GT is top Dawg & a true Supercar Bargin!! . The Z06 is a solid Price/performance option. Light with good power and handeling. However the fucking body shatters like glass at 20 MPH. A Shelby GT500? couldn't hang, plenty of Horsepower...too bad it's fucking heavy and handles like a overweight "tail happy" DOG.

reason the Z06 was getting shitty fuel mileage was because he wasnt upshifting...you can hear he was letting the gear coast down at 6000 rpm. so gay. ton of wear on the engine too. Use that clutch and upshift...

the new style c6 z06 came straight from the factory with a 7.0 liter 427. The regular c6 has a 6.0 liter or ls2. You need to do a little more research.

but a GT is not faster than the new one and if you supercharge the 7.0L in the new Z06 you get almost twice the power of the GT and lose no reliablity. In fact look up the reliabilty of a GT you'll be surpised or dissapointted one of the two

yeah, but i think you overlook the fact that the GT is a driver's car, whereas the Z06 is a track car in street clothes. Yes, the Z06 offers better bang for the buck on a racing basis, but ive heard NOTHING but bad reviews concerning its ease to drive, and i've heard NOTHING but good reviews about the GT in the same aspect. also, the GT has a slightly faster 0-60 and higher top speed.

Any mod you do to a Z06 can be done with a GT and produce more HP.
But man, that GT handles for aggressive maneuvers! WOW! Some AWD cars will get the slippy grippies when they do stuff like that at 140-170 MPH.

"Super-car" is a term that has been reserved for only the highest end, most expensive(and as fast as hell) production sports cars. They usually include year after year, but not exclusively Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porche, Mercedes AMG, and lately Bugatti. 2006 is the first time in our history that you can get an american car for 1/3rd the price of most of those cars and win in a 1/4 mi.,and even top speed.

I have driven pretty much everything and a GT stands out in my mind because it just goes and keeps going! The viper handles like a grand caravan. The Z06 is a good car but it is not quite there yet. The interior suck as far as usability, whereas the GT is all function. It's a race car!

Gms on a a budget the GT is about twice as much as the Z06 so its interior better be better. Both cars a badass but the Ford will meet its match with the ZR1 6.2 liter iron blocks 650hp ready to take an increase in boost. No replacement for both displacement and boost.

They don't come 650 HP stock though. Go and look at the 0-200 shoot out. The Lingenfelter Zo6 did not come close to the Veyron's 0-200 time. BUT the GT 100 Twin turbo would have. (It was damaged in a film shoot a few days earlier and was not available)
It has already beat the Bugatti Veyron, Saleen S7 and the Dodge Viper Hennesy 1000. To 100, 120, 150, 200 and 250! The Zo6 has not a chance.

Actually Fords in worse shape financially plus the ZR1 does not have an LS7 motor like the Z06. It's a 6.2 liter iron block not a 7 liter aluminum which is stronger and built for boost and yes it will come with 650hp from the factory. If that doesn't work then stuff GMs new lSX block which is rated to withstand 2500hp which none of the cars you mentioned have ever achieved. Oh and don't place so much faith in magazines I made that mistake long ago.

You are trying to sound like some kind of know-it-all. You can get almost any engine to withstand 10,000 HP with the right stuff heads and such. 2500 is nothing. I was doing that in the 70's with a Cadillac 500 Cui big block supercharged. 5.3 sec quarter miles.

With the brand new Z06 its there now and it don't cost 150,000 like the GT and with the new Z06 theres no gas guzzler tax. (And im a ford mechanic for a living job security lol) So lets see spend more money and tax and have to deal with the annoying triton 5.4L engine i hate those spark plugs. You guys need to check out the Ford GT TT (Twin Turbo) I 4got what company built them. I know they're in Florida. All I can say is wow. I think they were rated around 1100-1200 HP. Can't remember and 4got to put it in favorites.

wtf r u guys comparing the C6 Z06 to the GT...the GT is more performance oriented, its categorised internationally as a supercar whereas the Corvette is categorised as a sports car, the GT even has its engine mid-mounted. Its also smaller than the Corvette (7.0 L to the GT's 5.4 L)yet still produces more horsepower...but above all of this, that Vette engine has such a beautiful soundtrack, its like Yo-Yo Ma and his cello stuffed into an engine, only 10x better

the only reason a ford gt has more hp is because it has a supercharger and the z06 does not. If you put a superchager on a z06 it will make 650+hp. plus the base c6 is a sports car the z06 is a supercar every car mag. says it even top gear says it and that show is from england. plus z06's are almost even with the ford gt the gt is slightly quicker in a straight line but on a track a z06 will get better times. and the z06 is $65k and the gt is $154K.

These are both beautiful and awesome cars. i dont think the ford GT was goin balls to the walls the whole time, and thats the reason why the vette was playing with the accelerator a lot. its just two cars dickin' around on the highway. personally, the C6 ZO6 is my favorite car. you cant get that kind of performance for that kind of money (out of the box) anywhere.

The bottom line is that both of these cars are fairly cheap and are a HUGE BARGAIN because they are both fantastic cars. Although I love exotics I also love American sheet metal. Theres a golden glove feeling that you get with em just like in Ferraris.

To prove my point at the top speed, piston length and hp, look at motor-trend's comparison of the GT, Vette, and Viper. and notice in the quarter mile that the Vette took off faster, but by each marker in the 1/4 miles the GT had a higher speed

Also, the Vette top speed is 187, NOT 198, whereas the GT top speed is 206, during the conceptual stage of development the GT continued to rise well above 212 mph, however the devlopers decided to set the limiter at 206 to keep hot-heads from frying their expensive mid-engine motor. Truthfully, the Vette is a better car for the price paid, but it simply cant compete with the GT outside of a 1/4 mile race.

The reason the GT loses in the quarter is because the ford engines were changed from GM's origional designs years ago and given longer piston strokes that provide more power in less strokes, but as a result wont rap up rpm as fast, thus raising high end torque while sacerficing low end torque.

First off, the gt has 550hp stock, Z06 has 400 for the respective year. The Shelby Cobra alone has 475hp. Second, the GT is designed for lap races with specially designed SVT suspension which a stock vette cant even dream of touching.
