@Vox91 A definition of a good official is someone who does what is in the best interest of the area he or she represents. The State of NJ was suffering from a major budget crisis caused by overspending, partially due to union contracts. Christie offered a compromise of teachers taking a pay freeze for 1 year and contributing 1.5% of their salaries for no layoffs. The unions got greedy and teachers suffered. This is one example of effective governing, even though I trust no politicians.

what does retirement at 55 have to do with kids welfare? it's outrageous that private employees have to work till 65 so that that public teachers can retire at 55 or after 30 years of public employment.

The only issue is, if u want 2 retire early...u better have a good 401K or some investments. Cuz S.S. won't kick in till ur 62. In public service, we pay in2 our pensions, so its a community effort. I guarantee u that I pay at least twice to 3 times what u pay in S.S. a paycheck than I do in my pension contribution. U can get a civil service job too if u wanted.

i can't help thinking Christie has at least considered 2012 because he does a nervous gesture at his nose after he says he has four years (around 3:20). he doesn't do this gesture any other time during the video. a nervous twitch, as if he has just uttered a technicality.
The promise that he made about not touching teachers' pensions and not taking away the homestead rebates. Those were two outright lies that helped get him elected. He has turned his back on teachers (and other state workers) and many senior citizens who rely on those rebates. Whether you agree or disagree with his policies, he is not the straightshooting honorable man that he is claiming to be.
This could be viewed as something very positive, except for one thing......He may be blunt, but he is also an outright liar on many of his campaign promises.

The State of NJ was suffering from a major budget crisis caused by overspending, partially due to union contracts. Christie offered a compromise of teachers taking a pay freeze for 1 year and contributing 1.5% of their salaries for no layoffs. The unions got greedy and teachers suffered. This is one example of effective governing, even though I trust no politicians.

This is the kind of leadership that the vast majority of Americans are thirsting for. People are so pent up with frustration with this progressive/leftist/socialist disaster in D.C. that flaunt the Constitution and spit in the face of WE THE PEOPLE, that they want to vote right now. Americans are not going to let our founding principles of limited govt. and individual liberty and freedom be degraded.

i can't help thinking Christie has at least considered 2012 because he does a nervous gesture at his nose after he says he has four years (around 3:20). he doesn't do this gesture any other time during the video. a nervous twitch, as if he has just uttered a technicality.

The promise that he made about not touching teachers' pensions and not taking away the homestead rebates. Those were two outright lies that helped get him elected. He has turned his back on teachers (and other state workers) and many senior citizens who rely on those rebates. Whether you agree or disagree with his policies, he is not the straightshooting honorable man that he is claiming to be.

Just over the weekend teacher unions, profit/nonprofit organized groups detested your budget cut, so you're making many mad, but more are proud of you, not only in NJ but throughout this great nation.
