  • i always hear about having to wait for it to spool up and that this is why some people go with the superchargers.

  • Only if you have no idea how to size a turbo or buy a kit that has a turbo too large for the engine it's going on. I have no lag at all. I'm at 250+ TQ before 2K rpm and hit about 400 TQ at 3000 RPM. When I hit the gas it just seems like the car has a 400 ci engine.

  • @forced4motorsports well said and very true .. turbo size has to match well with the exhaust flow rate of the engine .. correct compressor and turbine trim, even when making crazy big numbers with the correct engine and you have just about no lag at all ..

  • Best v6 mustang on the YouTube. Sounds sick. Really want to do the same to mine. Just don't have the time, plus I could use some extra cash.

  • did u make it posi?

  • @showcrazy1 Yep, long time ago. It's an 8.8 with the axle tubes welded and 4.10 gears.

  • @forced4motorsports that pretty nice, u should get 2 speed powerglide trans since u run at the track

  • Hi Jenna .. its J from HPM .. I see you got a retune .. when are you going back to the track?

  • @700hpV6

Hi J. I ran the car but I'll post the video. I just tried to respond and when I clicked post it wiped this box clean. Not liking the new setup here on youtube.

I'll post a vid of the runs I did at the Brawl soon. New best everything, but no spoilers - lol. One of the runs that was caught on film was not my best but it's only a 10th off. I'm also running anti-squats, Koni adjustable rears shocks, and 26x10.5 bias-ply E/T Streets now. Car runs like a top!

  • @700hpV6

Vid is up but it's only an 8th run and there was no time caught on tape. We had the event professionally taped so I'll get a vid up of the 1/4 runs when I can. Likely be the 12.3s or 12.4s. Best of the day was a 12.21 @ 117.

Vid ID below. My run starts at 3:33 in.

  • a testimate to the almighty 4.0 Duratec. I've debated on multiple occasions weither I should stuff one of thoughs bad boys into my truck.

  • @xsonz2

It's a pretty good motor but it's not a Duratec. The 4.0 is a Cologne. It a modified version of the original pushrod derivative. The new 3.7 is a Duratec and it will be interesting to see what kind of boost it can take.

  • @forced4motorsports I am fairly positive the late model 4.0 was a duratec... There has been 4.0 Colognes, but they where, like you said pushrod engines. The late models are overhead camed Duratec varients. Or at least thats what I thought. I've been wrong before, just saying. The last 4.0 Cologne engine I know of was in the 90's.

  • @xsonz2 Why didn't you look it up?

The Duratec tops out at 3.7 which is used in the 2011 Mustang.

SOHC version of the Cologne was introduced in the 1997 Ford Explorer, alongside the original pushrod version & features a variable length intake manifold, produces 210 hp and 245 lb·ft. Ford sells this engine as the SOHC-640.

    Applications: * 2001present Ford Ranger * 20012009 Mazda B-Series * 19972010 Explorer/Mountaineer * 20052010 Ford Mustang * 20052009 Land Rover LR3

  • @forced4motorsports Didint think the 3.7 was a duratec, mostly becouse the 3.7 is a motor with huge balls. Wasint duratec a "ford of europe' type engine? I know cologne is a ford of germany. Oh, and you should race the bad wolf agienst a brand new 2011 5.0. They have more horsepower, but you have more torque. That would be a fun race to watch, dont you think?

  • @xsonz2

Totally! Evolution has a video up of theirs. With a tune, suspension tweaks, a drop in K&N filter and MTs DRs the car went a best of 11.82 @ 118. Serious balls! I'm limited to about 115 because of the 4.10s but if I do a major driver mod and learn to launch it would be a close race.

Don't underestimate the Duratec; Ford/Mazda creation. The 2.3 - I4 and 3.5 - V6 flavors have seen 300-450 on boost. Google Noble - powered by Ford Duratec 3.0 and 3.5. The latter TT was 450 HP 450TQ.

  • @forced4motorsports I've seen some 2.3's pull off some serious numbers. One that comes to mind would be a ford ranger doing low 13's. You might know better than me, up till recently, wasint the old vulcan 3.0 the only V6 engine designed, built and tested completly in the USA, by Ford of America?
