  • Blow Up poster -> very cool movie!

  • Thee Shit! @@

  • That might be the heaviest and most in-your-face bass line ever played...

  • this makes me wanna learn to play with a pick!!

  • yes can you please use a bass with fret dots. thanks!

  • god i wish i could play like you. I would just sit in my room for hours and jam, and let my mind go free. But im still in a beginner stage. I know my scales, etc, but i cant think of anthing unique to play. How do you make grooves out of chords, anyone with examples?

  • can you give me the tabs for it:)

  • with all due respect, i dont ever think bass sounds better when u play with a pick.

If u play with your fingers u could make that awesome percussion sound.

  • That just sounds cool :P Also this made it clear to me how blues was a great inspiration to (heavy) metal

  • what kind of bass is that?

  • @LeMasterDisaster looks like a warwick streamer jazzman to me

  • you sir just made my day

  • sounds kinda soundgarden like

  • Hi MarloweDK...why is your cam wobbling...im just curious...hahaha,,,anyway...i like this riff and that bass guitar with white pick guard...im practicing this riff right now...THANKS!!!

  • Between the tone and the riff...I just came.

  • OH GOD HE OWNS A RICKENBACKER !

  • Cheers! just want to say that i love your work especially your bluesy stuff,it helped me a lot :D ,i can't tell that you've got soul and a "blue heart"! One question though...which model is that bass?

  • Good song but you didn't even teach it talk when your teaching.

  • i'm feeling a little john entwistle in that tone.

  • man u just flat out rock great playing u do everything from slap to this and u got good bass guitar tast fender p's e.b.m.m and rickenbacker i play guitar myself and play alot neo classical playing shred and all that good stuff but i always had a fasination with bass i don't play it but i love listening to it and your the best bass video player on youtube keep more vids comming

  • do you post tabs of your work? ;P sounds awesome ;P

  • Awesome.

It cool how you slow it down for our benefit

  • Man! I love your bass vids, especially the ones with a heavy dist, keep it up!

  • damn, warwicks sound sooooo good :D

  • do i spot a rickenbacker?

  • If you've heard of the band Sleep, the second riff you play sounds scarily similar to a bassline their bassist would make.

  • i keep saying to my dad that i want a bass. i don't think he realizes how cool they can be :D

  • @HouseHoldGuy1 mention the names paul mccartney, roger waters, john entwistle, geddy lee,n lemmy.see if one of them dont convince him otherwise.

  • @MrSFblack well, i finally got a bass lol

but that would have convinced him i'm sure

  • Just out of interest Marlowe, do you know dmanlamius?

  • @maxf130 If you look at my channelpage, you see a link to dmanlamius

  • Man you're one of the reasons i've not long started to play bass. However i play drums too, but for longer.

You're great man. KEEP THOSE RIFFS A-COMING!

  • I think I have a mancrush on your basslines :o

Awesome thou stuff man keep up!

    Fellow bassist

  • Wow ive been playing guitar for 6 years, but you inspired me to try bass

  • what strings are you using? sound good and look amazing!

  • i have not seen a video of yours that its not awsome

  • what pedal are you using, i would love to have that kind of sound, and i also saw a video from you reviewing a wah pedal, which one was it?

  • @Ghost94Bust Dont remeber whick which effect from th Korg px4d, but the the wah was a Wowee waah

  • doom metal! second riff!

  • dude.....when i become a bass player. i wanna be like u lol

  • Awesome riff!!!

Where did you get that drum machine software?

  • About the pick I tend to agree then again it depends on the type of distortion you are using. Great sounding bass I love Warwick basses uncomparable

  • Great bass playing, i'm play guitar but i want to learn bass when i can afford :)

Is that a massive spliff in the background! ;) im onto you lad'

  • I wonder

the camera is shakin cuz the heaviness of the bass riff or it's recorded by hand

  • wow that neck is thin!

  • Omg, I cannot stop watching this video. It is so awesome.

  • Yeah, sounds a bit like geezer.

  • mm.. I'm thinking about buying my first bass guitar at the end of the month.

can you recommend me about a good guitar to begin with? perhaps a guitar that wont cost me more then 500 dollars ( that's what I can afford myself).

  • @AviadShitrit What genre of music will you be playing?

  • @N11Ckk123472 Well, I love heavy metal and Jazz as well, but I was more thinking about funky stuff .. Hope I didn't confused you.

  • @AviadShitrit For a good Metal type bass, an ESP or a Schecter would probably be best. Some people think B.C. RIch is a good bass for metal, they are, but as far as all Bass Guitars go, they are pieces of crap. Fender or warwick are good funky basses. I recomend going to a guitar shop (hoffmans music, guitar center) and playing around with some basses, and then, make your decision. This is all I know...I'm an Ibanez guy and I know some, but not too much about other brands.

  • @N11Ckk123472 Thank you! :)

  • Where do you get the money for all these basses. I see a Rickenbacker in the background, and those don't come very cheap....Neither do most Warwicks, which I am pretty sure thats what you're playing.

  • @N11Ckk123472 I forgot to add one thing on my last comment...Very awesome riff, and a bass to match.

  • Nice poster on the wall. David Hemmings, RIP.

  • what distortoin are you using

  • how dare you fucking say a7x song "nightmare" sucks, fuckk off you scrub and go get a life

  • Great sound!

  • epic riff your like an inspiration to my bass playing :)

  • Which distortion pedal do you use?

  • fuck yeah

  • Sick man. I love your playing style!

-cough- I mean, uh...you...you used a pick! you phony! -cough-

xD anyway, keep it up! sick riffs.

  • I love how the camera shakes to the music, good job man!

  • this is riff is just awsome

  • Theres no dots on your fretboard!

  • @tonycinstl They fled when they felt the awesomeness overwhelming

  • @tonycinstl and some are without frets...

  • Hell Yeah!!!

  • SICK tone. Awesomest disted bass tone I've ever heard.

  • great groove!thx

  • your videos are awesome. thanks for teaching dude!

  • Warwick Streamer bass?

  • Comment removed

  • that bass is beauty , can you playit other riffs like this with it please?

  • Groovey.

  • Thank you for your guidance, I really dig this one. :)

  • Comment removed

  • bad ass bro

  • Could you play something similar on th Rick?

    Great tune, keep posting!!

  • Hey, those black strings are sexy! Are they DR or some other brand?

  • i am sure your a busy person but could you just put out the tabs because the slow motion hardly helps me but if you can't its cool God Bless

  • i just love the way you play! nice man!

  • sweet groove! i listened to it a couple times

try using bass balls coupled with a heavy distorter (toy with your amp settings a little to fine tune) makes a muddy gritty sound.

  • this just made my balls drop about another 3 feet

  • hahaha second youtube comment to ever make me laugh in like five years.

also... ANOTHER three feet? hahaha i read it again and it made me laugh again.

    AWESOME!

  • im glad someone finds me funny :)

  • @MumboMoose ANOTHER 3 feet?

  • @MumboMoose ANOTHER 3 feet?! haha

  • how many strings on that ?

    I have a four that's why

  • are those actually black strings?! cool!!

  • \m/- Rock on

  • Which effect do you use here, I'm searching for an overdrive effect, do you suggest the English muffin?

  • I need to get me them black beauties, ...they sure look mighty fine

  • What pedal did you use, it sounds really nice.

Nice to see some Warwick love :)

  • I swear the first thing I'll do if I ever come into any kind of money is buy a Warwick Streamer custom. They just sound that gorgeous.

  • Washburn?

  • Hi Thomas, could I get a transcription to that through Paypal?

  • Sejt! :)

  • haha. I like seeing your different basses in your shot. pshhh you don't need the rickenbacker right? send it on over... :)

  • hey hippie, cut it out with the heavy stuff!! :) I liked it!

  • u are my new fave . bye geddy lee.

  • Do I hear a little Geezer Butler in there?

  • So I wasn't the only one who heard it...

  • Not on purpose, never listened to him - but out of curiocity - exactly what reminds of GB?

  • This riff just has kind of an N.I.B. feel. Especially in the higher register. I think you are a great player, no criticisim intended.

  • Didnt feel any criticism:-)

  • @MarloweDK Hey man, that´s a nice sound! What kind of distortion are you using?

  • The distorted swing.

  • i'm glad you're warm with your warwick. my warwick makes me smile

  • Nice! i dont see many disorted bass riffs, but the ones you made are awsome!

  • very nice

  • are ur strings black ^o) ??

  • Reminded me of several Cliff Burton solos :)

  • great as usually

  • Thats great. I gotta study that one. Thanks Marlowe

  • loved the lines and the blow-up poster heheh

  • Are those black beauties????

  • Oooh, could be... What are they Marlowe?

  • maybe DR black beauties ;)

  • Yes they are

  • Marlow..what dist. are you using? Pedal or rack?

  • Very nice, Thomas. Reminded me of Soundgarden.

  • awesome.

  • Is that a streamer ? I am currently also experimenting with bass distortion. I've found an awesome combination using the EHX Big Muff and the Digitech Bass Chorus. Chorus gives distortion an extra punch IMO.

  • oaaaauuuuuu !!!! yeaaaaah ! thanks !! but, better, use hte Rickenbacker for this sound, is made for this sonud, i.m.o.

thanks a lot for your lesson.

  • ohh yeahh!

  • Rickenbacker at the back! :D

  • Groovy almost as the old good Victor (if u dunno wich one i mean u suk! stop reading...). NEVER EVER STOP AND GIVE US SOME NON-LESSON TRACKS PLZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ. bless

  • looove that 'growl' tone Thomas!~ U ROOOOOOOCK!~

  • what videos do you play your rick in?

  • black strings?

  • IM watching this vid and Im just thinking about how badass this riff would sound on that jetglo Rickenbacker in the background...

Warwicks are nice and all, but Rics are the ultamite rock bass+plus I hate watching your vids of the warwick cause there are no dots or fret maekrs on it, so its harder to learn the lesson.

  • use your E.A.R.S.!~

  • damn clean ass sound

  • is that a new pad?

  • Rage Against The Machine style :P

  • you wanna join my band ?

  • He did it again, another bad ass lick. I think I'll just set my bass on fire

  • lol

  • Sweet!!...more like that.

  • Warwick =D. Go Marlowe. Nice video as usual.

  • Nice poster of Blow Up in the background.

  • do you make up every bass line on here cause they all are amazing

  • heavy and groovy, amazing :)

  • what is the pedal youre using?

  • What distortion pedal are you using?

  • I honestly dont remember, its a distortion setting an my practice headphone amp Korg px4d. I often just fiddle the settigs to get a usefull sound for a video

  • Just adding to this, as you're talking about adjusting for a decent sound for video, every gig I ever play at requires a different effects setting. It adds to the [enjoyment] factor of every place having a different structure and sound. Don't you agree?

  • now play it on a rickenbacker using some fuzz <3

  • Nice humJ pickup arrangement!

  • He IS heavy... he's my brother!

  • Comment removed

  • I have to find out what the setup is. Pedal, amp, instrument?

  • 0:58 is so awesome

  • Omg, cannot....stop......watching...his awsomeness!!
