  • MEMO to Sick Americans who can't afford health care insurance: Rob a bank, or commit a crime. Not only am I saying it but hell I encourage it for people who are broke, and can't pay for health care. Here's why, turns out that those nasty bad criminals in jail are receiving, get this, FREE SOCIALIZED Health Care! Courtesy of the tax payer. And that's not the real kicker, oh no, the real kicker America is that about half of those prison inmates are illegals! God Bless America!!

  • @Slayerfan84 You state in your comment: ''about half of those prison inmates are illegals! '' Didi you ever check any numbers or are you just spilling generalizations and bigotry? Any numbers t back that up? Here is reality for you and not some fox news talking point you like to regurgitate.

    (continued)

  • @Slayerfan84 ¶Over all — combining federal and state prisons — 6.4 percent of the nation’s prisoners were noncitizens in 2005. This is down from 6.8 percent in 2000.

¶By comparison, 6.9 percent of the total United States population were noncitizens in 2003, according to the Census Bureau.

Anne Morrison Piehl, an economist at Rutgers, says there are a number of reasons that immigrants have a lower crime rate than the native-born population.

    US Department of Justice

    (continued)

  • @Slayerfan84 ¶In 2000, 27 percent of the inmates in federal prisons were noncitizens. Some of these noncitizens were illegal immigrants, and some were in this country legally. In 2001, this percentage dropped to 24 percent, and it continued dropping over the next four years, falling to 20 percent in 2005.

Bottom line: illegal immigrants make up significantly less than a third of the federal prison population, and the share has been falling in recent years.

    (cont)

  • @Slayerfan84 ¶The share of state prison inmates who are noncitizens is much lower. (This is largely because immigration violations themselves are federal crimes.) In 2000, 4.6 percent of inmates in state prisons were noncitizens. This number remained quite steady over the next five years, right around 4.6 percent.

All numbers taken from NYTimes article: Immigrants and Prison which sources its numbers from the US state department.

That is reality... not your hate inciting number inventions.

  • @slickrickdarula Though it was a bit of a Hyperbole, One can't deny the fact that Prisons offer FREE Universal Health care to inmates, Even illegal ones. But the fact is why do my taxes have to pay for Illegal's health care. As an American Citizen I can't even get free health care, but illegals get Medical Welfare and all of the good stuff that would be hard for An American citizen to obtain! That's a fact its not hate!

  • @slickrickdarula You know what else is a fact? That an illegal mother can come to the states, have as many kids as she wants and be on welfare till those kids are 18, and they will receive FREE Medical at Tax Payer expense! These are also facts, Not bigoted comments!

  • @Slayerfan84 Ilegal mother? Do you realize you're talking about a human being?

  • Let's see....these insurance companies make huge profits by NOT insuring you! So interesting--what is the premium for non-insurance? My niece just gave birth to a premature baby who had hospital costs in excess of $200,000. She had ZERO out-of-pocket costs. How mean of that insurance company, don't you think? She had been paying premiums of less than $500/month for only 6 months prior to the baby's birth. What a MEAN insurance company! Making ALL of that profit!

  • I been smoking my head off so the couples with two kids making $83,000 a year can get freebies. I really care about these poor people. I am speechless about these greedy Republicans and Insurance co's Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm

  • Yes this is sick and disturbing especially as an employee if a healthcare company where our pay and benefits are not at all compensatory. Please don't forget that these plans are designed by your employers!! A lot of people aren't aware of that the employer decides what they will and will not cover.

  • I can't believe this is MSNBC. Good for these two anchors for allowing an honest debate without playing that stupid devil's advocate routine.

  • Sick for Profit - new DOCUMENTARY?

    GOOD WORK MAN! :D

"LISTEN" GLEN BECK YOU "DAMN" "BETRAYING" "COMMUNIST"! ;D

Some day they are renaming Hospitals

according your name (and Michael Moore) :D

What about renaming PNAC, (RAD, 2000 plans) Air Carriers which have seen daylight after 9-11-2001? USS Greenwald? Sounds cool? Right? Am I Right or Am I Right :D

  • xxxxwildxxxchildxxx concluded by stating:

and fyi.... you said "you get about the same coverage as if you dont have insurance at all..." that is not true at all.... i used to have very good insurance and if i ever got sick i would only have to pay what is called a copay..... now if i get sick i have to go pay the full amount because im not insured.... again... dont be retarded

  • xXxWildxChildxXx has posted a comment on your profile: i have no idea why youre commenting on my profile without including what i said first.... thats why most people comment on the persons actual posting instead of going to their profile because people enter a lot of things... thats like you going and arguing with 7 other people about something then one of them mails you a letter 10 days later saying yes thats true but......

it doesnt make sense... dont be retarded...

  • re-puke-licans have made $trillions of dollars convincing simpleton americans to vote AGAINST their best interests.

the re-pukes are against IMMIGRATION but the ILLEGALS already have the best health care money can pay for. whose money, THE SIMPLETON AMERICANS.

the simpletons have already lost, and the status quo only serves to enrich the repukes more and more.

the answer? give everyone the same health care CONGRESS has for FREE

if ilegals show up, treat them, then DEPORT THEM

    problem solved

  • because only people watching msnbc would care about this

  • The point is not wealth envy, it is that the insurance companies are denying life saving health procedures because of the management's greed. Some of these CEOS are making BILLIONS and then denying care to children ( and these children DIE) so that they can make their billions. That is not envy that is OUTRAGE against a system that is not working!

  • Correction that should be a billion not billions...still a VERY large sum of money.

  • get a freaking job? some stupid bank exec who's still working made me lose mine.

This is about for cost healthcare that is cheaper and does not include a markup so some asshole can have his freaking mansion. Kapeetch?

  • for-profit healthcare system is about as assinine as for profit fire department.

  • these ins company execs are pure evil

  • why does it matter how much they make? just because musicians make a ton of money doesnt mean we should bitch about it... they earned it...

  • ins and military industrial contractor profit from americans because they know they can americans are the stupidest human kind that you can ever find in planet earth they worry more about american idol and michael jackson that in their sons and health.give them a t.v. show,a flag and a song and they will fall for it.

  • ALWAYS FOLLOW THE MONEY.

    Who is funding this film?

    Who funds which politician?

I now believe the healthcare issue is a full on scam. That everything that humans hold dear are being used against us 24-7/366 days a year now. THE NWO IS RAMPING UP BIGTIME!

Pitting our environmentalist issues against us with the bullshit lies - the carbon tax.

Controlling healthcare to bail out the insurance liers and deny even more people healthcare.

    Repeal all constitutional rights.

    Hope your bag is packed!

  • Health Care Insurance in the US is stupid as fuck. I live there. It is an affront to health care staff, which is generally very compassionate and skillful imo and deserve a much better framework around their profession.

  • where is this organ grinder's monkey?

  • Please before you people decide to talk so much shit about socialist concepts, remember theres a difference between Democratic socialism and Communist socialism...I live in Canada, I would be afraid to live where my health is relied upon some guy on a phone approving my ability to recieve treatment.

  • Well spoken mavrick790. My wife had a heart attack and the doc put her on meds. Well, one of the meds she had problems with and the doc changed it. The ins company would not pay for her new med and told us and the doc she has to use what the doc initially prescribed to her. The ins company was actually trying to over her heart docs decisions. It was nothing but a fight between us and her doc against the ins company.

  • Sorry to hear that bro. Hope she gets the right treatment and is feeling alright!

  • Yes these stories of evil insurance companies are true. I lived in a small village when one day the insurance companies came in their black-hawk helicopters and landed in my village. They killed every living thing in my village including my goats. From that day on I vowed that I would get my revenge. If you do not believe me than You are my enemy too.

Give it a break leftist blogger. This is just the beginning of your defeat.

    Obama Fail

  • Empty howling in the face of facts.

  • And yet more wingnuttery. Continue.

  • You, like your demigod are a epic failure. I will enjoy watching Obama disappoint you.

Even now you are doubtful. You are asking yourself why?

    Bill Clinton the sequel.

  • cjmyers505 you are a fool!

  • Safet,

You than no doubt are trying to argue with a fool.

What do you think that makes you my friend.

  • Everyone has the eyes of a demigod in their own mind.. you display it here.. good job bro.

  • Than its settled you will worship me now.

  • Everyone.. not only you.. read critically.. not passively..

  • Someone needs to go after Helmsley and his kind. We need Greenwald to run for President because Obama is Puss.

NATIONAL HEALTH CARE NOW. Time to take back the country. Support the troops as we will need them to overthrow the corporate controlled government. GREAT VIDEO

  • 11,000 views and less than 300 ratings?? come on people the more ratings the more exposure it gets...

  • Thank you Mr. Greenwald. You are amazing and such a true good soul. The nation is grateful to have yous, I know I am.

  • 3.6 mil for a CEO isn't much? what a stupid film

  • The President of the U. S. makes about 1/2 a million a year and he has the whole world to worry about. I've worked in a lot of the types of mansions that these CEO's live in and they should be ashamed of themselves, and if it wasn't that I needed the money just to keep my one bedroom apartment, I would tell them what gluttons I think they are.

By-the-way you must be one of the gluttons.

  • i was just commenting based on what other CEO's earn- i don't know why people like you are so bitter about being average that you must put down those who succeed....

  • You are a glutton too or you hold the fantasy as many Americans do that you will be a glutton some day and don't want to hold rich people accountable as you think it will affect you some day. I've been around a lot of rich people and many are very nice and even generous, but when they make money off of people dying, that is when I have a problem. Corporatists are who control the nation's and the world's politics, just as they did when Mussolini was in power.

  • better president you are the one living in your fantasy world- mussolini was a fascist (aka corporatism) do you know what that means? when big government is in bed with big corporations...take out big government and all corporations will fail if they fail to provide a good viable product- but you are so up to your neck with your socialist ideology that you fail to see that socialism is the cause of this mess in that it bails out big businesses.... ps. NAZI (was national SOCIALISM) ...

  • Yes, shrink gov't, less regulations, the less the better!

Worked out great for big banks and mortgage industry. Less, less!!! NO REGULATION, shrink govt to the size of the walnut because it's two bigg.

Oh and all this collapse, it was all socialism's fault!!!!!

    DURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

  • don't forget the money spent for taking care of the first lady is half the amount the CEO's get in the same period. They need to be replaced with proper CEO's that respond to the needs and not turn our lives over the the feds.

  • When I said I about Bill Gates and Al Gore making more than these CEO's did not mean I condone what they do. I was stating that the pot is calling the kettle black (not meant to be racist, just a saying we all use!). So if someone feels that genocide is good for the nation I will STAY away until you are gone... less crowded with all the blind people to run into you and call you crazy. Take the shots and follow your leaders... for me I left until it is over.

  • The insurance companies are bloodsuckers, and they do everything that the protesters at 'town-hall' meetings are wrongfully blaming on the government.

I would like to see some of these senior-citizens who complain about "government programs" give up their social security checks and give up medicare....after all, those are government programs.

  • 6 lobbyists for every law maker .... health insurers are murderers.

  • tattle, you are totally right (figuratively & literally) . But your statement (unintentionally I assume) supports the proposition that a public option should be OFFERED to those that are more interested in their and their families health, than the health care Insurance companies making a profit....

  • Helmsley loves GOP dupes. They're lobbying against healthcare reform for him for free. I wonder how many of them were actually denied healthcare from the dude they are defending because Faux News told them to.

  • go get um!

    up next the banks!

  • This is where the rubber meets the road in this debate. Healthcare for-profit is fundamentally sick-minded and inhumane.

United States veterans, member of Congress and the Senate ALL have single-payer, 100% lifetime coverage. It seems to work for them, and I've never heard any of them complain about their 100% health coverage that is already paid for by American Taxpayers.

  • Indeed, as well as the Senior citizens also have single payer ... medicaid and medicare

  • Read Gerry Spence's book "With Justice for None." Mr. Spence was an insurance company lawyer for many years. He's won more multi-million dollar settlements that any lawyer in America. He hasn't lost a criminal case since 1969.

He says the insurance companies are bastards who drag out civil suits with their deep pockets & 100's of attorneys on staff. That's not a direct quote.

Health Insurance companies=lying, murdering thieves. Prison is too good for them.

  • Gee, imagine that, an insurance company that makes a lot of money. Why can't they just go into business to LOSE money like all the other companies in America? Oh, wait a minute, they ALL are in business to make money, aren't they?

  • Insurance companies cheat customers out of benefits.

Insurance companies let children die whose parents have paid for lifesaving medical care.

Insurance companies murder people with their death panels.

A former Insurance Company executive testified before congress that the company policy was to deliberately deny benefits so that the patient would die before they were forced by a lawsuit to pay.

Gee, imagine that, killing people for profit. That's naughty.

    Welcome to the real world.

  • Not only them.. Pharma too.. they are as low if not lower than the insurance companies. They have concealed the discovery of many cures for many deadly illnesses for profitteering from us. See?.. If you aren't sick you don't need medicines.

  • they certainly do have a horrible conflict of interest- a sick population is a doped up population.

  • @tattle1957

I'm curious......what is your plan for reform?.........not that your smartass comments and ivory tower observations aren't a valuable contribution to the debate........cmon, and dazzle us all with your brilliance ASSHOLE.

  • He is just one of those southern red necks with a complex of superiority who thinks he is better than others.. Thnak God they are all disappearing from the face of the earth and becoming minority.

  • That is what makes it perverse... One can't market with people's wellbeing.

Health care si not for profitting.. It is for service to others.

But of course that can't enter into your narrow mind... what can you know about love and compasion :/

  • Thanks, Robert. We need to change this system and to keep the pressure on our lawmakers to do it.

  • This is what happens when theres no competition in the market. Thank god the host or guest pointed out that what we have here is not free market.

So now instead of going the govt option way lets give free market a chance.

  • Hey Al Gore, how much do you make as CEO? What about the drug companies? The CEO of Sprint is larger than that! Please, Bill Gates, let the news be the real news and close your direct line to the white house

  • CEO of Sprint and Bill Gates aren't responsible for passive-murdering of thousands of people - which is what denial of healthcare often results in. Not the mentions the millions of people forced to live life of pain because their insurance will not cover the medical bills. In fact, Bill Gates donated $28 billion to charity by 2007 - that's a fact.

  • I take it that you personally know a lot of people that are being denied care by their healthcare insurer, and that ur not just regurgitating what you have read or heard from someone else, right?

  • I don't know anyone personally. But I gather information from multiple sources, as well as try figure out the logic behind the way things are. I wouldn't believe something if it didn't make sense. That's how the education system works - that's how social progress is made from stone age tools to electronics. Of course, there are always inaccuracies and exaggerations. All I can do is push you in the right direction, you have to figure things out for yourself.

  • what do they get for the cap and trade... the CEO's should NEVER see 3 million or more...

  • and under this so called health care bill how many will just not even get to see the doctor because they are no longer a benefit to the greater hole! Wake up to the fact MS(Microsoft - Bill Gates)NBC is a direct line from the white house so nothing you hear will be the truth. If promoting this film, it is not worth the time to watch.

  • If NBC is a direct line from the White House than what is Fox? A direct line from the uneducated right? Health care is a major problem, it's about an entire country that needs access to care, not just you.

  • How's the kool aid?

  • You got a solution, or just a smart ass comment?

  • Insurance companies are ruthless. There was a patient from Palm Beach who went to her doctor for a breast lump, had mammogram, was cancer. Doctor submitted a claim for the treatment and the insurance company tore up her premium check and sent her a red letter stating they didn't get her check and her insurance coverage was terminated. She appealed because she was scared and they reinstated her but her cancer was preexisting.

  • The FBI should do an investigation on the insurance companies and arrest everyone of these CEO's for fraud. They also should also come under the RICO Act and be arrested for that. Where's the FBI when you need them.

  • This movie is not really going to work. People apply their own experiences with their insurance providers. Insurance companies are not stupid. They can screw over 10% of their customers and make their profits and pay out 90% of all the other claims. So majority of their customers are happy with the services they get from their provider. The Right can go to Canada or UK & make the same video of how people got screwed because they didn't get the treatment they needed because of a wait list.

  • Personally, I think insurance is highly overrated. The only thing insurance companies do is group together providers and negotiate rates. The problem with single payer is as soon as the system goes to that the amount of investment in healthcare with drop dramatically. So many of the drugs, devices, and procedures that these people need wouldn't even exist.

  • You are wrong. The NIH, through our tax dollars, fund the vast majority of the research for drugs, devices and procedures.

It is not tied to the profits of the industry. In reality, the less that is researched and the fewer options people have in treatments, the easier it is for insurance to deny.

  • Lastelerious, That's not true about NIH. The NIH does a lot of the investment in breakthrough treatments but the private industry expand greatly on those breakthroughs. It like the government created the Internet but private industry made it what it is today. Also when I say investment I mean actually people too and hospitals and equipment. Healthcare would start looking a lot more like public education. People will just decide not to go into the field.

  • 3% of the drugs on the market today were sponsored by government funds.

On another note its been a laugh switching to MSNBC from Stossel's health care segment, what a contrast.

  • Insurance is just a third party draining a huge sum of money from the system. We need to go back to the days when people still paid cash for simple medical procedures and insurance was only for catastrophic covergaes.

A 3rd party taking 30% of your premuim as operation/profit is bound to break the system after a while

  • It's nice to see somebody other than Michael Moore FINALLY saying what he said in his movie "Sicko."

WE NEED SINGLE-PAYER UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE NOW!!!

  • the military and american public love the phrase "leave no man behind".

that is, until it comes to the health care of millions of it's own citizens.

    for shame.

  • Hello health care is a business the object is to make a profit not supply a service for free. Health is secondary to profit. We have voted in the corporate political cheer leaders for the past 30 years and you are upset now. Remember the people of America want a business atmosphere. We have consistently voted for those that enhance corporate welfare and benefits, if there were a balance with profits and wages the middle class would not have lost so much ground .

  • Comment removed

  • We want option. When there is competition, when everybodu starts to fight for us to sign up with them, these obscene saleries will dissapear.

  • In America...everything has to be one of two pathologically absurd extremes: in this case either be happy with unrestrained profit for greedy PARASITES like Hemsley....OR....GOVERNMENT administered "treatment" which is as horrifying a prospect-----there are CURES for cancer that only cost a few bucks and the AMA and FDA and of course, tape worms like Hemsley, don't even want any of us to know about---so now who is addressing THAT aspect of this issue?

  • Some of the bickering in these comments are useless to the argument. If you are representing one side at the very least some some maturity.

Anyway as said, firemen, and police are services needed by any nation. What makes health care different? Why should people make the profit they do at the expense of others for something as critical as health care. Dems believe in public socialized health care, but the other option that might make people happy is a system similar to the one in the NL(?)

  • You are absolutely right ninj.

It is so simple. It is all about money. Rich people want to keep theirs.

Poor people want a LITTLE BIT.

That is what it is. And Obama better come out for the poor multitudes that have FUCKING HAD IT!

    PUSH OBAMA TO THE LEFT!!!!!

  • you're just a sarah palin follower you piece of shit he's telling the truth

  • I'd say "WholeTruth" is working for the "industry"!!

  • So I can understand your position, please give us a couple of examples of what you mean?

  • Please, spit out some facts in your anger. As it is now, many people go bankrupt because they dont have health care. I know I am not brain dead. I see patients everyday who can't get the care they need because it is too expensive and/or their insurer denies coverage. I am saying this, and I am one of the lucky ones who has good health care coverage.

  • Thanks to Brave New Films for exposing the truth here. I wish the sheep following the lies being spread would wake up and listen to whats REALLY going on behind this nation's health care problems.

  • There's about a 10% chance of meaningful healthcare reform.

90% chance this exhausts Obama and the blue dogs transform this into a trillion dollar giveaway to insurance/pharmaceutical/healthcare companies.

Yeah we're probably fucked. Well hey look on the bright side: lower life expectancy for americans will be better for the environment!

  • "Democracy is not a spectator sport!"

    Good one!

  • Shuster is correct. Americans had a clear choice in 2008 when it came to the presidential candidate's platforms on health care. They soundly rejected John McCain's tax credits and "letting the marketplace work" plan. Voters gave Obama the largest margin of victory in 12 years, and the largest percentage of the vote in 20 years. They gave Obama even larger majorities in the House and Senate with which to enact the proposals he ran on. So WHY THE FUCK are Democrats trying to please the LOSERS?

  • Single Payer Now! Ironic that many of those who can't afford insurance or who don't have anything are some of the most outspoken critics against universal healthcare. CEOs should be able to make whatever they can make, but their companies should be held responsible for the lives they ruin in the process, and should be prevented from ruining MORE lives in the future.

  • Health care is civil right and not a tool for profit. How much money is enough for someone to live on? I believe that a person should not make more than 5 million dollars a year and a business should not make more than 20 million dollars a year. Any more should be taxed at 100 percent. If someone doesn't like that then they should go some where else to live. I suggest Saudi Arabia or the UAE, where the wealth is concentrated by the the very wealthy Sheiks.

  • I cant believe you all are fighting with each other instead of discussing this issue, as a democratic society would...so sad we have been broken down to this!

  • It is the insurance company hired goons stirring up the trouble.

  • no she's not

  • Talk about sexually confused!

BTW: the issue is HEALTH CARE REFORM, not your irrelevant obsessions with perversion, and smearing others in effort to change the subject.

  • She doesn't want to have sexual relations with you.

  • "I am a most unhappy man. I have unwittingly ruined my country. A great industrial nation is controlled by its system of credit. Our system of credit is concentrated. .....We have come to be one of the worst ruled, one of the most completely controlled and dominated Govts in the civilized world -- no longer a Govt by free opinion, no longer a Govt by conviction and the vote of the majority, but a Govt by the opinion and duress of a small group of dominant men." --Woodrow Wilson, he ok'd the Fed

  • We need to learn to connect the dots. These corporations are invested by banks so ultimately these bankers are controlling pretty much everything, even our government and other international supranational bureaucracies like NATO, UN. I mean I was disgusted to see these unelected company officials are sitting down with world leaders from the UN to come about and represent us on our behalf? Does that make sense to you? They've built themselves a health industrial complex + military industrial

  • HEYBUDD...you are a dumbass, and the dumbasses are screwing the world. Selfish goopsack! Universal Healthcare will only be an option...plus cover those that are uninsured. An option! Those who do not want to change do not have to. Wake up Reeeepubbbs...Jesus will not save you...he is dead, and a figment of other rich fucks taking advantage of the flocks...50 Foot Jesus says AMEN

  • the $3m a year is NOTHING compared to the $700M he got in stock options.

he should be paying the 91% income tax rate on that money.

  • there doesn't need to be profit. just healthy people. the internet is run by the government. do you think it is better than a private for profit network that charges you for everything, like at&t's cell service? firehouses are run by the government. should they be for profit too? just like they were 125 years ago when for profit fire houses let the entire city of chicago burn down because the one house that started the fire wasn't a paid subscriber to its local for profit firehouse? really?

  • I'm not getting involved in the argument about health insurance... but where the hell did you come up with the "for profit fire department" angle on the Chicago Fire? Did you just make it up? Either way it's completely and totally untrue. The Chicago fire department DID attempt to fight the fire, but circumstances limited their ability. Look it up, man.

  • The folks in town meetings who are screaming at congresspeople, including Sen. Specter in PA in unison bring up government participation as the problem. They are oblivious to 1. you can still have your own private plan, 2. Medicare is a government program and most people are happy with and 3. Greenwald's example of insurance CEOs like Helmsley literally taking money from us under our out of control system. People MUST see this side of it--the real dilemma!

  • perhaps it's time to amend the U.S. constitution and add healthcare as a fundamental right - I wonder why right wing nuts never complain about "socialized" police, fire or military not to mention postal service, gov't agencies like the DMV, etc.

  • although i agree with robert about healthcare

  • the government profits alot from the police.... they generate money every time they make an arrest. fines, restitution, traffic and parking tickets. jails and prisons serve a double purpose, to keep "criminals off the streets" but more importantl to make money. thats why you can get thrown in jail for a year because you let a cop catch you with a gram of pot.

  • That money goes to pay for stuff we use though and salaries for the police. They don't go into the pockets of CEOs and stock holders.

  • Comment removed

  • are these insurance companys not private companys? if so I guess thats part of the problem

  • From health care, to flu vaccines, to endless war, to corporate influence over congress, it's all about greed.

  • END Two Party Dictatorship in America

  • Right on, Robert ... saying it like it is!

  • Should movie producers make millions of dollars a year? Or should they use their profits to help make movie tickets & theatre popcorn cheaper?

  • Movie producers don't deny you healthcare.

  • yeah!!!! 5bucks for a popcorn is pretty stupid eh?

  • "Should movie producers make millions of dollars a year?"

There's a huge difference between the entertainment industry and healthcare which explains why unfettered free markets are good in some areas, bad in others.

If people think movies are too expensive, they can do something else. Seriously ill people don't have much of a choice.

  • In no other arena would you or I suggest "unfettered freedom" be exercised but in our markets. Time to stop the mass nativity!

  • mass nativity?

  • The at mass belief that markets should be absolutely free when it doesn't work anywhere else. There are even limits on speech but the right in America, who seem to love those limits then turn and say that no limits should be placed in the market to make it fair...not necessary they preach. Let the market decide everything they say. Well how's that working out in your health care "industry?"

  • $100,000 an hour!!! Holy moly! Tax that asshole!!

  • wow, 3.2 million for a salary, that's kinda low really. ha

  • The super rich such as Helmsley take "low" salaries like 3.2 million because they are taxed like crazy on that money. The BIG money for him is the stock option value he holds totaling over $750,000,000 bucks! That money is much easier to protect with intricate tax filing schemes. The 3.2 million is probably used as an allowance for one of his teenage kids.

  • Benjamin Franklin believed in, supported, and helped establish the first public funded hospital in the nation. But what does one of the most significant founding fathers know about our nation and the direction it must take concrening the poor and underpriveledged? Boo-yah.

  • police do profit though robert, i agree with a lot of what you do, but police are laid off for not writing enogh ticket, county jails have quotas, and why dont you do a documentary on how much money is seized by the drug war!

  • because people are dying, because procedures recommended by doctors are not being covered by insurance companies. I myself can't afford any kind of health insurance at my age, so I have none. But the idea that people who pay premiums when push comes to shove, so that assholes at the top can make more money is dispicable.

  • Brave New Films is an awesome group. I hope they keep making films and exposing the wrongdoings of corporate America.

  • The US pays more than twice any other industrialized nation per person for health care and we do not cover everyone. We have worse overall medical outcomes. We have people going to health care fairs to get treatment. Health Insurance companies are in the business of collecting premiums and denying claims. It's a sick and immoral system. When will "we" get it?

  • By "we" you mean Jesusland

  • Not to mention people actually leave the country and have their procedure done in South America because it's a quarter the price and just as high quality.

The myth that "everyone comes here for healthcare" is a lie.

  • Thanks for what you do, Mr. Greenwald and the crew at Brave New Films.

  • I'm wondering what's going to happen when medicare goes completely bankrupt as projected... will we have to pay even higher taxes? Now people want a single payer... what happens when that goes broke as well? Because for god sakes the gov needs the 30+ % to continue to wage wars for corporate interests right? Nah, I don't trust our Government one bit to do anything right.

  • Comment removed

  • Insurance = pay or die.

  • How big is your insurance deductible? How much do you pay each month? Huh? Do you realize that our nation spends TWICE as much for health care as part of our GDP than ANY other nation? Single payer health care would save money.

  • World Health Organization ranked the countries of the world in terms of oval health performance, and the U.S. (was) 37th In the fairness of health care, America is 54th. The irony is that the United States spends more per capita for health care than any other nation in the world, (The European Dream p 79 80 & NYT Nov 22, 2004). American education is the same

Soulless Insurance & Pharma Corps legally bribe politicians - See my video about avg payout between 1 to 4 million per Senator

  • Amen Anthony! If the GOP is all about "small government", are they writing bills to repeal Medicare, VA benefits, FDA, USDA, FAA, etc. If they want a small democratic government, move to TJ Mexico! Stay a couple of months.

  • I want a bonus lol.

  • The Government is a growing Tumor & the illegal privately owned FED Reserve is its blood supply!

The 2008 Social Security and Medicare Trustees Reports show the combined unfunded liability of these two programs has reached $101.7 trillion in today's dollars!

TARP plus debt to illegal privately owned FED Res is 25 trillion

Amount plundered from other Federal Gov trusts: 53 trillion

Every man, woman, child in USA owes $600K in FED Gov debt

Americans have the Government they deserve!

  • Why do you have to sensationalize things?

The Outstanding Public Debt as of 11 Aug 2009 at 09:25:55 PM GMT is:

    11.6 trillion

The estimated population of the United States is 306,716,516

So each citizen's share of this debt is $38,034.30.

You can't use projected expenditures to say our debt is larger than it is. That is like saying that you expect to spend over a million dollars in the next 20 years, thus, you're a million in debt.

    Doesn't work that way.

  • 53 trillion dollars has been plundered from various Government trusts, (a fact they have hidden from the public for years) Comes from Federal Reserve US Treas. Bureau Economic Analysis - That's over $700,000 from every family in the USA

The 2008 Social Security and Medicare Trustees Reports show the combined unfunded liability of these two programs has reached $101.7 trillion in today's dollars! (msg me for link)

Past FED debt on TBills plus TARP - 25 trillion

    You actually believe your gov?

  • I believe my government more than I believe some conspiracy dude on the internet.

  • UltraSWG: What part do you not believe?

  • Ultra - What EXACTLY have I said that you disagree with?

Why do you NEED to believe your government is your personal child-like security blanket?

You can never escape the truth; but in the truth you can survive!

  • I don't believe your figures. You're saying the debt is 700K per citizen when in reality it is 38K.

You then say you have links to prove it. Links? I have "links" that also say cold fusion works. So?

I believe the government more than I believe you and that is saying alot!

It's simply because your figures are so out of whack and inconsistent even by Libertarian standards.

No I don't think the government should take care of us from cradle to grave, what does that have to do with it?

  • 53 trillion dollars has been plundered from various Government trusts, (a fact they have hidden from the public for years) Comes from Federal Reserve US Treas. Bureau Economic Analysis - That's over $700,000 from every family in the USA

102 represents the unfunded SS & Medicare pledge (which I already cited)

25 trillion represents the previous debt to the Federal Reserve Bank & TARP

Good luck with your 401K's; meanwhile my Norwegian Kroners are going ballistic!

  • Repeating the same numbers over and over again doesn't make anyone take you more seriously. In fact, it reinforces what we already thought: you're a wingnut.

BTW, 53 trillion divided by 300 million is not 700K.
