Just curious. What's the oddest thing you've caught on any of your fishing trips? Any turtles? Oddest thing I've pulled in, at least this year, was a blue crab.
@anarkistogre No unusual creatures ,,, but it still sticks in my mind when I landed a cat with a hook, sinker, line and float ... which didn't belong to me..
hi uncle steve ive noticed in some of your vids that you try to set the circle hook even though there no need just try to reel and the hook should set (well thats what ive heard)
@howLOLOcanyougo Up to this point in time all of the Eno River bass that I've seen are one foot and under. There _are_ larger bass well below the dam on the east side of Durham, but that part of the Eno is a part of upper Falls Lake.
@Maddawgbaits Yes there is gar in the Eno River. Now here's what I don't know: do they only get as far up river as the dam at West Point on the Eno? I say that based on a reliable article I found. I don't know if there are gar above that dam. The dam is on the east side of Durham and this fishing vid is upstream west of Durham.
As I mentioned to another commenter: chain pickerel is in the Eno also ... and it has a "long" pointed nose also.
@BoyDepTimGirlXinh I know there are several types of gar in NC. And I know longnose gar are in some parts of the Eno River.
I also know about gar teeth: I will never reach out to grab a gar ... mentally I'm already practiced to not do that. :^)
The fish I saw had a pointy head. In looking over the sport fish profiles on the NC Wildlife site, I see chain pickerel ... which is definitely also in the Eno.
That is a candidate too ... until I haul one of those guys in for a close look and ID.

@fightinandirish You did say: "(well thats what ive heard)"
I invite you to try it (with vidcam running) and see if it's true.
You might review this video that I made: the hooks are Gamakatsu Circle Hooks and the fish are bream and chubs. /watch?v=Z5kDUP4vNvg

Ive been watching most of your videos and it doesn't seem like there are big bass in that river, maybe that explains why the bluegills are huge.
