Kathy Troccoli was and still is my favorite Christian song artist. I told her so when she had a concert in Hawaii and I had the priviledged to have met her. Cool that she got to sing with the beach boys or Cool that the beach boy got to sing with her! ether or is cool! hehehe
Kathy Troccoli had two great hits in the late 80's-early 90's with "Tell me where it hurts." and "Everything Changes." She know is a powerful Christian singer. Her music is heart felt and inspiring.
@CornBoy Carl isn't in this vid. At :48m Brian (wearing white shirt is on the right) sitting opposite him at the keyboard is Bruce Johnston. Mike Love is to Brian's right (wearing a loud shirt and baseball cap.) At 1:03m Matt Jardine (Al's son) is on the left, Bruce in the middle and Al is on the right. If you go to Lorrie Morgan singing 'Don't Worry Baby' (brilliantly) with The Beach Boys, Carl is the gorgeous one with the beard.
By the way, I'm a hard core Beach Boys fan. I even painted part of the Endless Summer album on an entire wall in my room when I was in high school. I don't usually like people jacking with Beach Boy's songs (not like it's my right to decide but...) I enjoyed this one.
Great version...not many covers of BB hits turn out as good.....Kathy's vocal is strong and true,helped of course by some stunning harmonies from the boys...just how GOOD were they?

nicky6771, I didn't mean to imply that Phil Spector wrote this song. He produced it for The Ronettes. His "wall of sound" brought it to Brian Wilson's attention and The Beach Boys recorded it. Wilson once declared that "Be My Baby", a Spector original, was "the most perfect" rock song ever written. Shortly thereafter, Wilson wrote, "Don't Worry Baby". Spector and Wilson...genius squared!
@idic5 Do you know who Brian Wilson is or what he looks like? He was in at least 25 scenes...white button down shirt with a Polo(?) logo on it. Video is from '96 I think.
@mrboomer1340 Brian has the white shirt on his brother who sang it originally died years back. his brother Carl, who died had a magic voice. Died of cancer I think.
There was another brother who died in a drowning accident and his name was Dennis Wilson.
I can't imagine having gotten to record with The Beach Boys. Kathy Troccoli's voice is so nice, but The Beach Boys original just edges this out. This is great, though!

@mrboomer1340 -You are right. Phil Spector and The Ronettes are great-- Walking in the Rain and Be My Baby are 2 of my favorites. I wasn't aware that Spector wrote this song. God only knows how many groups that perform their songs get the credit and not the writer.
What a voice! It would be very hard to try to find someone else to perform this song like Kathy. The emotions she puts into singing this song, her energy and strength and sound of her voice is just too much!! WHAT A PERFORMANCE!!
I really like this version. It would be 100 times better without the annoying saxaphone breaks though. Also, why is Carl not in the video? His voice is clearly audible in the backing vocals.
@chuckpowell When was this made? Carl (bless him) died in 1998, and looking at the approximate ages of the surviving members, maybe it was recorded in the last 10 years say, and perhaps Carl's voice was dubbed on?

By the way, I'm a hard core Beach Boys fan. I even painted part of the Endless Summer album on an entire wall in my room when I was in high school. I don't usually like people jacking with Beach Boy's songs (not like it's my right to decide but...) I enjoyed this one.

Great version...not many covers of BB hits turn out as good.....Kathy's vocal is strong and true,helped of course by some stunning harmonies from the boys...just how GOOD were they?

I can only gather that Carl Wilson had been ill at this time,as this was only 2 years before cancer claimed him.He had sung lead on the original of this.

@mjfoghat Yes it was as Carl was starting to have difficulties, Matt Jardine who is seen here was replacing Carl in many of the Beach Boys concerts. RIP Carl and Dennis without you and Brian there is no Beach Boys, And yes Kathy Troccoli is amazing in this.

nicky6771, I didn't mean to imply that Phil Spector wrote this song. He produced it for The Ronettes. His "wall of sound" brought it to Brian Wilson's attention and The Beach Boys recorded it. Wilson once declared that "Be My Baby", a Spector original, was "the most perfect" rock song ever written. Shortly thereafter, Wilson wrote, "Don't Worry Baby". Spector and Wilson...genius squared!

@mrboomer1340 Brian has the white shirt on his brother who sang it originally died years back. his brother Carl, who died had a magic voice. Died of cancer I think.
There was another brother who died in a drowning accident and his name was Dennis Wilson.

I can't imagine having gotten to record with The Beach Boys. Kathy Troccoli's voice is so nice, but The Beach Boys original just edges this out. This is great, though!

Hey y'all this was a Phil Spector "wall of sound" production. The Beach Boys did a fine
version and this one with Kathy Troccoli is maybe THE BEST, but give Spector his due

@mrboomer1340 -You are right. Phil Spector and The Ronettes are great-- Walking in the Rain and Be My Baby are 2 of my favorites. I wasn't aware that Spector wrote this song. God only knows how many groups that perform their songs get the credit and not the writer.

I really like this version. It would be 100 times better without the annoying saxaphone breaks though. Also, why is Carl not in the video? His voice is clearly audible in the backing vocals.

@chuckpowell When was this made? Carl (bless him) died in 1998, and looking at the approximate ages of the surviving members, maybe it was recorded in the last 10 years say, and perhaps Carl's voice was dubbed on?
