thanks for the heads up..I an currently looking at a LaCie drive for backup. Your the 3rd person that I know that has had problems with their drive.

I had two LaCie hard drives that failed on me as well. One, a 1TB nas, and a 500gb usb 2.0. Both of them were very expensive (knowing LaCie) and I was extremely disappointed in them. I wouldn't recommend LaCie either. Great design, but their hard drives just don't work. Too bad then don't sell a simple enclosure...

sounds like the drive has compatibility issues with time machine use carbon copy cloner as an alternative.

That's too bad man. I love Western Digital too, I've got a couple 2TB drives from them! Did you every check Console.app to see if you could repair permissions or was it just completely corrupted?
