  • qualifying time? fee? hahha... hi sarah, this is matt howes we went to high school together. i trained for the marathon and ran it in 2009, except I did not qualify, I was a bandit runner. my time ended up being 4 hours, so I know that if I did qualify my time would have to be better. it was a very rewarding experience nonetheless, qualified or not. and hey, I still ran all 26.2 miles and finished!!! :) Still something to be very proud of, good memories! and i trained myself! woo-hoo!

  • OMG props to the guy with two prosthetic legs!!

  • Man seeing that handy apt dude running was freaking awesome, my hero! Great job man keep it up..

  • First time I ever saw a white girl with more booty that the black girls.. go Kara!

  • lol - nice encouragement from the opening speaker.

  • didn't anybody else notice the warning sign at the end lol

  • @utubehalowa19 hahah yess thank god I read, good warning x)

  • i went 3:10 in st louis my first try. split like 1:29 & 1:40.... yeah, it hurt badzo

  • Woah, Sarah's a hottie.

  • Goucher didn't win in 2010....

  • Girls got it easy.

  • ehh henume qulikate flot klich adias truck

  • They don't look like they are running anywhere close to an 8 minute mile. More like 10 minute. I guess they have to make up for it in the end?

  • the guy at 1:30 is an animal........ Incredible!!

  • Kara has never won Boston. This clip title is inaccurate.

  • Why do you have to pay to run in it? I thought it was all for charity anyways?

  • Your not too good with money, are you?

  • @drone713 nope, why? just asking

  • ...let's think about this. According to you, it's for charity. That would imply there is a process in which money is donated to a nonprofit organization, correct? Where do you think the money comes from?

  • Kara and her husband are expecting their first child. Good luck!

  • I've often wondered how fast Kara Goucher could run if she didn't heel strike. My guess is that she's be unstoppable.

  • You actually don't have to qualify for the Boston Marathon if you're running it for charity.

That's how I'm going to run the Boston Marathon as my first marathon ever this year. It could have been helpful for you to include that in your video. :)

  • good job of Kara and Ryan,American guys, and also I was there,I,m finish 3:10,but nice experience!!! I,m Bosnian dude,I say hello to Boston, that was nice people!!!

  • Thats my coach at 1:42 !!! AHHHHHH!!! thats so awesome! lucky find.

  • that´s a bit rough.

  • ha she used to run on my cross crounrty team

  • i want to ran a marathon. i have always wanted to ran a marathon for the past 15 yrs. the farther i 've ever run in only 10 miles. i don't if it going happen in this life time.

  • I don't see how anyone can run longer than a 10K.. Am I the only person that gets shin splits Lol!

  • @b1rdtman Well I get shin splints too, but only when running at faster paces. If I tried running an all out 10K, I would get shin splints, but for a marathon, the pace is so controlled that I know it wouldn't be fast enough to aggravate my shin splints. Maybe that's the case with you too.

  • @b1rdtman

I'm up to 40 miles per week after 2.5 months of training, and I still need to do a slow trot for the first three miles before I cut loose to prevent possibly ending my run for the day because of shin splints. Since I started it feels great.

  • @b1rdtman I get shinsplits after a 3 mile run : (

  • @b1rdtman Join a trail running club or just start running on trails.

  • @b1rdtman You only get shin splints when you're new to it. It's always funny when the cross country kids get them because you know it means they haven't trained in months.

  • @b1rdtman omg how i hate shin splints i cant train for cross country this whole summer

  • haha lol xD

  • i want to run a marathon

  • than do it train like crazzy like i am :)

  • I've always wanted to run a marathon.. only I'm 16.. so that may be a problem.

  • I'm 17 and I'm running the Chicago Marathon this year. You just need to train adequately.

  • bräuchte 5 std.für marathon

  • Great to see the disabled runners in the marathon!

  • What about the entry fee for international applicants? They watch these videos, too!

Watching all the people running surprisingly made me cry. I need to get off my butt and start working out again. Thank you for this video. It really inspired me.

  • How can I improve my mile time?

  • I ran my first Marathon ever yesterday, and it was incredible. The crowd is incredible, though the knee pain is less so.

  • Awesome, congrats!

  • Congrats! How long did you train for? We are just curious

  • I started training for the Marathon last September. About three years ago I weighed about 230 pounds, so this was kind of my final hurrah in overcoming that phase of my life.

  • i was there but didnt run!!!

  • well whats the qualifying time for a guy?!

  • i added the times on my blog on examiner - the link is on my twitter dietSarah and also my youtube channel SarahsFabChannel

  • I think running a marathon is a great idea. If Sarah ran the marathon, I would also enter - just for an excuse to run behind her and stare at her butt for 3 hours.

  • You can't change DNA or RNA ?

    Iam what I am !

  • I wanted to see Sarah run. Dissapointed. I think she can easily get a good timing.

  • I can't run that far - BUT - I am training for my first 5K in June. Perhaps I'll move it up to a 10K then a half Marathon... we will see..... I'm scarred from the anxiety of High School Track. I ran competitively and got sick like every race. It's a painful sport.

  • There's nothing to be nervous about, just run your own pace and try to beat your best time. You will pass some people and get passed by others, as long as you have fun and use the race as a good excuse to train it's all good.

  • a marathon for ANYONE is anything but easy!

  • My parents ran the Boston marathon several times as bandits. Bandits are not official registrants, so you don't get any goodies and have to run in the back of the pack..but you do get bragging rights =]

  • So when will you be running the Boston Marathon Sarah?

Personally I'll stick to the local 5, 8 and 10k races.

  • yeah... not for a while. I can tell you that much. haha

  • Congrats to Kara & Ryan! Glad to see the Americans do well this year!!

  • In the good old days all you had to do to qualify for Boston was to run the Falmouth road race and if you did well there they'd let you in the Boston. I wonder if Mr. Kelly ran the Boston? He was the oldest runner there at the age of seventy.

  • he actually passed away just a few years ago. But he did come into the family restaurant I worked at every week during all 8 summers i worked there. he was very old.

  • Sorry to hear that but he was a great man and an inspiration to the world. He loved the Boston Marathon like no other human being in the world. Imagine running a marathon in your eighties and the Boston Marathon at that. Amazing man.

  • This is awesome! Running is becoming a part of my life :)

  • i was there today, my cousin is running.

  • oh wow. i didnt know u had to pay for stuff like that. But i would do it if it was for a good cause =]

  • Some people actually have to raise 3K to run it, the upside - they don't have to reach that qualifying time.

  • @diethealth Yeah, but they're raising the money that they're raising for the charity that they're running for. Also--it's not always 3k, it could be 1k. Totally worth it to raise the money for charity though.

  • my friend did that!!!! xD

  • My friend did the last Baltimore Marathon a few months ago.

  • I was there today. Gotta love Patriots Day.

  • eight minute miles is a big deal when you have to keep it up for 26 miles! i'm running my first half marathon in two weeks and am expecting to do it in 11 minute miles even though i can run a nine minute mile, if i'm only doing one at a time instead of thirteen. : ) i would love to run a marathon one day, much less the boston marathon

  • My Social Studies teacher ran it and he finished 81st place

  • omg, it takes me like 10-15 minutes to walk half a mile :P

did you participate in the marathon? if so, what place did you come out of?

  • Wow

That's crazy - i didn't know you had to Qualify!

I didn't know you had to pay for that sorta thing. I guess i'm used to hearing about the Aloha run in Hawaii. I volunteered to give out water. Running has never been my thing. I much prefer the water!

    Thanks for sharing

  • Eight minute miles! Pfft not a problem. When I was twenty I did six minute miles.

  • LOL, that was purely strategic at the begining of the race. The women ran several miles under 5:45.

  • wow this might be too intense for me lol... but i really want to run a marathon one day
