  • @unknowncook Great suggestion for collard greens! ;)

  • not supposed to wash cast-iron pans.they tend to rust. Just wipe with a paper towel.

  • @1964Yojimbo If you use them daily like I do, there's no worry about rusting.

  • LOL Hilah.. you rule ; D *thumbs up* don't ever change! I love collard greens n spinach.. sometimes I'll throw some lemon juice on there instead of vinegar.. mmm

  • @timoback3000 Thanks, buddy!

  • Hey! I do it like that too! (Well..there MAY have been a bit of fat-back in mine...). Nice.

  • Bacon fat (in moderation!) ain't so bad! If sourced from organic and local farms, especially. Don't forget the vitamins and minerals that require fat to be absorbed!

  • @missfarmerjane Yeah, I don't have a problem with it, but it's not the only way to do it. And there is some oil still to help with absorption.

  • Hi. Very nice!

  • I can't believe I'm thinking this but those collared greens looked really good. So hungry now.

  • @regisor94 That is because they are delicious!

  • love your style! How funny I had collard greens tonight. I didn't make it b/c i was super lazy, but next time totally clicking on this video and having you in my kitchen talken to me..thanks

  • @walkmilesforyou sometimes I sound really sarcastic and don't mean to!

  • @ironhead41 Hmm, I've never heard of that or had a problem.

  • I so love all greens turnips with the root, mustards and collards!!!Never had em that way but I will now!!Thanks

  • Ur doin it wrong... you're supposed to boil them until they smell like feet wrapped in roadkill. Mmmmm-mmmm! Just like grandma used to make.

  • this kitchen looks cozy

  • @Almbruzler I love my kitchen!

  • Salt, oil and vinegar is one of my favorite tastes. I've only tried collard greens a few times, but maybe if they were made this way I'd actually enjoy them a little.

  • cool you can make a cleaning cast iron video! hehe I was thinking if you had used bacon we could have heard your lovely singing your husbands song again! Interesting I have never fried greens before, looks a lot quicker for sure! What did the bottom part of your shirt say?

  • Ah Sweet Puppy. What kind ?

  • I see your puppy dog. Great receipe.

  • I cook a lot of stuff in bacon , especially on camera. make them drool they will come back for more!

  • Hmmm..ok, I'll have to admit I've never tried that before. I heard about them, but I had no idea what they even were.

  • @da959: I've never had them either. I'm so glad I'm not alone. I was beginning to feel WEIRD! =D

  • @metamorphicmuse For some odd reason I thought they looked more like brussel sprouts than something as leafy as this. Kinda reminds me of "wilted lettuce" and I have had that before as well as dandylion greens.

  • @da959 : Peas, green beans, broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini, yellow & acorn squash, carrots, corn, asparagus, artichoke and spinach are the veggies of my choice. I can't stand brussel sprouts or ANYTHING that remotely resembles cabbage in appearance or taste. I've never heard of "wilted lettuce" unless you're referring to leftover salad. I think I may have eaten dandelion greens in those pre-packaged salad medleys, not certain though.

  • @metamorphicmuse No,wilted lettuce is cooked in a pan and uses a type of lettuce called

'leaf lettuce".As I remember it, you started out by frying up a little bacon in a pan and then cooking the lettuce slightly in some of the bacon grease to flavor the lettuce. Then after it was done you topped it with a sweet vinager and oil type dressing. You can also add onion and other things to it. It's been a long time since I've had it,but it was pretty tastey.Maybe Hilah can help us out on this one?.lol

  • OWW u didnt do your little laugh at the end - just when u put the food in your mouth lol you always giggle :) thehe x

Unrelated question...have you ever cooked with Chia seeds? I've seen people make them into a savory pudding and it looks so good...or a sweet pudding. They are full of Omega 3's!! yee-haw!!

  • @Wivanunu No, you know. I haven't. Interested, though.

  • You forgot the pepper juice and corn bread !!!

  • there not just going to be good but they will rule the world :)

  • Oh come now! No bacon? No way. Maybe some diced ham instead? LOL

But YES to getting fresh, and NOT cooking them to death like so many people do. Like Crackerbarrel does... Yech...
