My family have owned fords for the past 5 years and we have not had one non maintenance problem yet. The Escort got to 210K miles before trading it in for a Mustang and everything else has worked perfect. I've been stuck in a ditch in the focus once due to ice but other than that is has never failed me.
My wifeand I have just been shopping around for a new car. Tested honda civic, mazda 3 and ford focus.
Lower the drivers window down and all these models and squeeze the bottom of the window frame seal gripping the steel out side and plastic interior. Just see how flimsy these models are in comparison the ford.
The ford winds hand down on interior, drive and safety. I do prefer the styling of the mazda 3, though it wasn't enough for me.
The side impacts look really piss poor. Even an entire car with metal as thin as tin foil takeaway cartons could defend a side impact better then this heap of ugly junk. Its looks so much more beautiful when its DAMAGED!
Well, if you don´t know the Focus II was at that time the safest compact car in Europe even besting cars like the Golf V and Renault Megane II. It´s still one of the safest compacts according to EuroNCAP.
@luisinhoens90 No it wasn't, the Megane was actually the safest car in its class not the Focus or the Golf. The Focus doesn't do brilliantly at its side impacts and the re-freshed Focus after 2008 didn't do brilliantly either, mind you it is a polished turd from the last Focus only with a 'Mondeo look' so you can't expect too much from it. I wouldn't say ford are the safest, their headlights and grille are the worst components for detaching & throwing themselves at padestreans when they crash.
Every car has a life cycle, that´s why they suffer from a refresh. The Focus II is a great car and one of the best selling in Europe.
I have myself a refreshed Focus II Saloon since May 2008. I haven´t had any major problems. Its grille as well as any other component are fine. I have made 2000km trips in it and no single problem. Its A/C is superb and the 2.0 Duratec makes good power even if isn´t a brand new engine. I´m happy with my choice and no regrets so far.
@luisinhoens90 I used to drive the Focus II's which were the "refreshed" models but I like to refer to them as Polished turds rather than refreshed, I used to work for Enterprise rent a car as a vehicle prep thats why I drove a lot of them. The dashboard aurrounds are always poorly aligned and the quality of the panels is awful. I have nothing nice to say about them, they fall apart over time and the parts are Delphi which are crap.
Well, so I think I grabbed a good one from the bunch of Polished Turds as you call them. And my other friends which also have Focus II are lucky as well.
And remember something: Most of the cars have been focused in occupants security first, then pedestrians. I haven´t seen any car with more than 2 stars of pedestrian security. And depending on the crash any car could loose parts flying away on the roadway. I´ve witnessed myself an accident between a 2006 Mondeo and a 2002 Accord Coupe. They crashed at approx. 80 km/h and both cars lost parts that we later found on the roadway. The Accord lost the whole front
@luisinhoens90 I saw a Mondeo compared with an Audi A4 on an Ncap, the headlight and 3 other potentially dangerous components ejected themselves from the car and threw themselves at the wall. Nothing was ejected from the Audi and it all stayed tight despite the crumple, even with a 40Mph collision. Just imagine if a person was stood just infront of the Fords point of impact, the flying headlight would have most definately caused a fatality.
@2009jimmy2009 So your defence makes it ok for a headlight to fly out during a crash? When the car crashed at 40 miles per hour, the headlight would have been very jagged around the edges and it would have been travelling through the air at 40 miles per hour. I don't fancy being hit by a headlight that is flying towards me at 40. It could kill and its potentially dangerous.
@1ns4ne1d10t YOU ARE A FUCKING TWAT!! THE FOCUS HEADLAMP IS HELD IN WITH 2 T30 SREWS TO MAKE CHANGING A BULB EASY, WHICH IS A GOOD THING. THE CHANCES OF A HEADLAMP FLYING OFF AND HITTING SOMEONE AND KILLING THEM IS MYBE 1 IN A TRILLION!!! ONCE AGAIN, YOUR A COMPLETE FUCKING SPASTIC, STOP COMMENTING AND GO LICK THE WINDOWS OF YOUR MOTHERS CAR!
@2009jimmy2009 Lol its held in with 2 poxy T30 screws, WOW! A German car is held in with at least 4 of them. Probably even 6 just to make sure it doesn't kill people. They don't put in 2 measly screws in a headlight just to make it easier for you to change the bulbs, Ford do it to save pennies. They also don't stick rubber seals around the washer jets so the cars end up with rusted plugs which misfire and can't be replaced because they rust into the head presenting you with a £1500 bill, Nice!
@1ns4ne1d10t well if you are useless enough, you wont get them out after they are rung off, im well aware of that problem, and also the failing power steering pump pipes etc.. im not slating german cars as i drive a c220, im just saying that every car has its faults, and overall, the focus is a good solid car. as for a headlamp falling out in a crash, wise up, i'l send you a big check if you can find me one case where a focus headlamp has killed someone
@2009jimmy2009 ...Don't forget the failing and leaking injectors on the Duratorq, the £1500 clutches that last only 10,000 miles, the £1200 DMF's that die after 20,000 miles, the 'no steering no brakes' fault when the engine cuts out, the sudden death batteries that last 10 minutes from an unexplained power auxiliary drain, the poorly casted 'washing machine' crankshafts on the 1.6, the cheap cylinder head metal which casues power defects, I'm not saying they are shit. Neither are they good.
@1ns4ne1d10t yep the 2005> had loads of faults, most of which are diesel cars which i wouldnt have about me! i put around 100k mls on a 1999 1.6 zetec, not a single days bother, well a seized brake caliper and burst brake pipe due to my own neglect, oh and a clutch. but not bad for a first generation model car (guinea pig). still have it with 160 on the clock but driving a c class for a change. im a ford tech by the way
@2009jimmy2009 I can't believe Ford still use the old 8V 1.8 TDCi 115, they have it in a 125 now. It was a turd polished Endura Diesel engine, absolutely diabolocal. Same with the Transit engines, they shoved them in a Mondeo and Jag X-Type. Yet they had the famous ICU failures and injector failures costing £1200 per injector not to mention the appalling misfire. The Jag had a different head and injector set which wasn't Delphi but still had the de-ja-vous ICU failures. As you probably know
@2009jimmy2009 Trouble is with Ford is they try to do things on the cheap. Like putting in 1 large variable vane turbo on the 2.0 140 and 2.2 175 PSA engines instead of installing 2 honeywell turbo's on the 2.2 175 to eliminate the turbo lag like the French did. Then they added in Delphi DMF's and general FoMoCo parts to their version of the PSA's, which then became the famous Ford/PSA disaster which they branded the engines as "Duratorq". DuraDORK if you ask me.
@2009jimmy2009 great comment some of this crap ive been reading of this idiot is a joke. Seen comments on other videos chat shit all the time , Little wiki youtube know it all needs to get a life. hahahah see other comment about flying headlight whilst standing in front of car? I would be more worried about a 1500kg car coming at me at 40 mph :)
@wheeliehome Actually what I said is all true "Crap" apparently. Ford owners such as yourselves have zero brain cells thats why you buy Fords. Ford take the mickey out of you guys and you just don't see it. Thats why the darn motor company is like a cockroach that can't be killed. The naive and the no brainers are the only roaches left who are keeping the blue oval alive. When Henry Ford found out the model T had a reliable rear axel he replaced it will a cheap nasty one. Bear that in mind.
LOOK EVERYONE IM A PRIVATE MECHANIC,,I HAVE WORKED ON EVERY MAKE OF CAR AND I CAN TELL U THIS.THE JAPANESE CARS ARE THE BEST ONES EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE VERY HARD TO WORK ON,THEY ARE THE BEST ONES.AND THE VERY BEST ONES ARE HONDA,TOYOTA,AND NISSAN.
Every car can be reliable if you take care of it. All the Fords I´ve had have been good, even I had a Dodge Stratus (its parent company Chrysler is one of the most underrated brands) and it never gave me a problem. And I had that car for 10 years. I also had a Subaru Legacy and a VW type 1 from 67, not only Fords.
@fear946 I would take your word for it and I know you are speaking the truth, don't listen to these Ford huggers they have a Ford for 5 minutes and they think its damn reliable. I used to work for RAC autowindscreens and I used to chat with a lot of servicemen. Do you know what they all said the best reliable cars are? JAPANESE. Closely followed by German. They didn't say Ford, Vauxhall or Alfa/Fiat. They will often say "I had a Jap car that was less reliable then Fords" Its bullshit.
@fear946 He's only had it for a year, Ford Focus 1.8 TDCi's are made almost entirely of Delphi parts and the 1.8 engine is an old polished turd 8 valve endura diesel. Basically it came out of Escorts/Mondeo's and Fiestas then progressed into a TDCi. I'm probably telling you grammar to suck eggs but they are the worst buggars for DMF, clutch and injector failures which cost £1200 per injector. Not cheap!
@jaffacake1578 oh shit.....i was driving 120 with a mustang!!!....could of been fuckin dead!!!!....but yeah who drives 40 mph these days lol...i want to enjoy speed
Dont forget people, This ford is built on the Volvo platform thats why its so safe, hell even the ST has the Volvo T5 engine, Ford are just shit, in the 80's and 90's it was cosworth engines that made ford its name, today it Volvo engines and body's which keep them in business.
@jaffacake1578 Type this in: Euro NCAP | Ford Ranger | 2008 | Crash test
I suggest you watch this before you think Fords safety is always leading the way and is better then Volvo, after seeing that it really makes you wonder. Other 2008 4x4's were getting 4 and 5 stars 3 years ago. Fords 4x4's still cumple up like a chinese car did 20 years ago. Its a European Ford built in 2008 so I wouldn't praise ford too much if I were you.
@jaffacake1578 I see your another dumb TWAT who knows nothing about cars, Volvo was the first car to support a 3 point seat belt, the first with crumple zones, the first car to have side airbags, the first with ROPS, SIPS, Twin airbags, seats that move sideways, the list goes on, ALL were standard, unlike Ford which often resulted in a steering wheel to the head or something that burst into flames, yeah Ford really know what there doing, a 1996 850 had all the above as standard 14 years ago.
@19ranger90 Ford does, Ford acquired Volvo in 1999 but only the car division, with that money Volvo acquired the Renault Trucks & Mack Trucks, later Volvo acquired Nissan Diesel, back to Volvo cars, Ford sold Volvo cars last year (2010) to Zhejiang Geely Holding Group in China, Very sad and no doubt Ford kept all the important stuff as they do, if u get me.
@t5mikka God I remember when Volvo got the 300 series built in Holland. They used to have Renault 21 1.7 engines in them. Loads of my family and friends had a Volvo 300 at some point. My Uncle had a 1.7 with the 8V 1.7 Carburettor Renault 21 Savanna engine in it and my aunties husband had a Volvo 300 that was so old it still had a manual choke. Lol. They were a joke. Absolute unreliable rotters for Volvo's they were.
@t5mikka Luckily my dad never had a Volvo 300 but he's driven my uncles and my aunties husbands one. They were dreafully underpowered like a Hamster pushing a filing cabinet and they roll about something chronic. The bodywork is 3 times heavier then a tank and none of that was helped by its RWD setup. The 1.7's were sluggish as hell but the ones that went down to 1.4 were 1000 times worse then that. My aunties husbands was a 1.4 and he couldn't pull out of junctions properly. Lol
@t5mikka LOL Ford had 3 firetraps that burst into flames during crashes. 1. Pinto 2. RS2000 3. 1990 Escort MkIV. These Focus II's were recalled in July 2008 because they had PAS hose failures which caused fires in the engine bay. That makes 4. And they were recalled for TUC Brake Vaccum pumps because they lost their brakes. It just shows you that even when Ford use Volvo's help, they still manage to make a Volvo dangerous. Making a Volvo dangerous is almost impossible, only Ford can do that.
@1ns4ne1d10t LOL, spot on, saw plenty of RS turbos go bang after hitting trees etc in my boy racer days of 1990's onwards, shame, them and the cosworths were the only fords I liked but again not fords technology to start with.
@t5mikka Ford just don't know what they are doing with anything. Like now, they put EAC's on all the Fords which is a fly-by-wire throttle and no other manufacturer has that. When the EAC fails its a gamble on 2 dangerous things 1. Powerless Limp mode 2. Brake failure, steering failure = Total loss of control. Its a known thing especially with Fiestas. Their control bladed suspension can also crab walk causing a danger to the cars stability. You should read things about Ford. Its laughable.
@wheeliehome Look up the word EAC. It stands for Electronic accelerator control. If you search EAC failures the only cars that get them is FORDS. Typically 2003-2008 model Fiestas. I rest my case...
@benbay001 Nope Volvo platform using Volvo's patented crumple zones etc, using the same electronics bla bla bla, Ford renamed the platform as theirs when they bought Volvo, many other cars are also built on this platform from other manufactures as theres nothing Ford wont sell.
@t5mikka That explains why the Focus II platform is totally different one to the old Focus I. The old Focus I was a Mazda 3 platform. The Focus II is almost a completely different car altogether to the old Focus. Its much wider and bulkier. They also stuck the Dagenham rebuilt T5 in the Focus II whereas the old RS was a 4-pot. I'm not sure if the new Focus is getting a 2.0T because of the emmissions claim, or because Ford sold Volvo to a Chinese holding group. I'm not sure.
@1ns4ne1d10t Yeah the good thing about the RS having the T5 engine in means lots of T5 6 speed gearboxs about for cheap money from crashed fords, go well in the volvo 850 T5's & R's, lol, only prob is final gear is the same ratio as the original gearboxes of 14 years ago so not sure if worth the hassle.
@t5mikka Fords gearboxes are probably the shitter ones then the original Volvo T5's anyway hence being cheaper. Don't forget that Ford bully their vendors into cheapening transmissions to drive down the cost. You will probably find the cogs are a worse quality of alloy and don't last as long. It wouldn't surprise me they are probably much whinier in noise then a Volvo box. I remember our enterprise Focuses and Fiestas both sharing the same whiny 1st and screamy 2nd gear from 15 years ago. Lol
@t5mikka Everything Ford made themselves was shit, never galvanized and never lasted, thats why they had to turn to PSA for diesel engines and Mazda/Yamaha for petrol engines. Don't forget that Fords were built on MAZDA platforms. All Ford ever do is design a body and chuck crumby Delphi parts in it. I agree with you totally, they can't even get build quality right. You could slide breifcases through Ford panel gaps and they rust in places and squeak too.
@1ns4ne1d10t What? How much bullshit can one idiot talk? Quite a lot it seems. Just go get urself a hobby, you lowlife. dont you REALLY have anything better to do, then troll around on youtube all day along? I laugh at your phatetic being, you chav with the eyebrows with go-faster-stripes! ROFL! Go back to the bathroom, and groom your eyebrows, and stop trolling.
@Nakke144 Do you have anything better than to sadly try your best to defend your Fords or something? You have to try and pick on something personal which relates to me only because you can't find any answers. Truth is they DID steal Mazda platforms, they DO steal Mazda and yamaha engines, they DO steal PSA engines. Its funny because their own 8V 1.8 TDCi 115 was a joke and so was the unrefined 2.0/2.2 litre Transit engine that was also shoved in an X Type Jag. :-p
@1ns4ne1d10t 1) There is a difference between stealing components, and co-developing&sharing them between companies. 2) I dont give a shit what you think about Fords, as long as you stop trolling, and stating false information about them here. And you dont seem like the brightest chicken in the flock, so arguing w/you is like talking to a giraffe, you really dont get any decent argumentation, or facts for that matter, only mindless grunting and childish whining.
@Nakke144 Co-developing!? I would hardly call Fords ventures a "Co-development" its more like a conspiracy to RUIN things. Oh, I'm not trolling, I'm just laying down the law. Lol
@Nakke144 Why don't you go back to your garage and repair your garbage Ford. If you didn't spend time argueing with me you could have got the damn thing fixed by now. Lol
epic car, me, my brother, my fiancee was on our way back from a rave at 2am on the m1 (its very dark) (my 70 odd y.o granddad was driving), some douche high as a kite and stoned pitted a volvo and spun himself out, the prick was in the middle of the motorway side on, (no lights) he bailed, we hit his car (in our focus) at 70+ mph his car shot off and twatted him, we span 5 times and slammed into the guardrail, we survived, thanks to my granddads epic driving and this car, get one !!!!
i have the 2006 focus ZXW, i went in a ditch at 140 km/h, and hit a 3 foot diameter tree, the only injury to me and my 3 friends was a bruise on her side, the only damage to the car.... 3 scratches in the middle of the back bumper, i made the car spin to reduce speed, complete 180
@benbay001 no actually, if i didn't hit the brakes at the crucial point in the change of inertia the car would have went into the ditch sideways, and probably flipped over and i would be here to explain this to you, by slamming the brakes when i did, it shifted the weight to the front, making the front end have more friction and the rear continued to slide, but yes, initially i did lose control of the car when the right side tires hit the soft shoulder of the road, going too fast was the problem
@benbay001 also i wasn't used to the added rear weight of the station wagon, if i had been in the focus we had before that, 2001 sedan SE, with a 5 spd standard, the incident, would have been avoided, and i could have just not been an idiot and slowed down, but oh well lesson learned, besides, you weren't there, so you wouldn't know
are you from the US or anywhere outside Europe? because the focus is a totally different car for the European from the American market :) hope this helps - this is very definitely a UK spec focus mk2 :)
@jakethegreatable Yes, I know that. Someone already answered me and told me it's a European focus. But in america we have a Honda that looks similar to that.
what and American cars are any good? Americans havent made 1 single good or even bad car since the 50's! They have about the worst reliabilty, handling, crashtest, build quality and tackyness record of all. Sorry but its the truth. Its why the US gov has to throw billions to keep the US car industry alive as they just churn out rubbish. European and japanese cars are 40 years ahead of any american car and thats being conservative
je suis du maroc j ai un ford focus 2008 et je conseil tout le monde d avoir une, elle s'agit d 'une voiture robuste, sure, confortable, confiance, jolie....... .
One of the safest vehicles on the road today. Ford did a helluva job with the design. Now if they'd just bring the RS to the states all would be good. :)
isn't the rs going to be available over there at the end of the year?
i saw a demo in the local ford garage so i had to try it. i thought it couldn't possibly be any better than the st. let's just say i was very very wrong.
Nope. Everyone was hoping for the new RS, but recent news came out that the RS will not be coming stateside. Honestly, I can't blame them at this moment. The economy is too bad and no one would spend 27,000+ for a Focus right now. The closest we can get to the RS is the Mazdaspeed 3 and the Volvo C30.
A factory made 300 hp hatch with AWD that outruns Mustangs, Evos, STI's, and can beat a Vette on a road course...and you whine like a little girl about how it looks..... Logic eludes you.
ford focus factory made does'nt have 300 hp that's an edition version and for an edition version ill take the shelby or roush MUSTANG EVO X and (sacrificing 9 hp) and an STI let me tell you coming from has 305 hp with 290 lb ft torque and its awd id like to see your edition focus beat a zr1 on a road course i've seen videos zr1's out perform porsche 911's (whom have built a legacy on road courses) knowledge does'nt elude me taste eludes you sir
Oh its funny you say that because US ford's arent really good looking either. Plus, european focus has german quality and interior isnt full of cheap hard plastic like in US fords.
its funny you say that because the focus still looks like a piece of shit no matter which way you swing it unless your 30 years old+ and a loner you wouldnt drive a focus obviously everyone in here including you fits that bill
Its funny you say that because focus still looks better than 99% of US cars. Seriosuly, and this is the old version....so you cant count that, this version isnt produced anymore.
hahahahahahaha good sell you make me laugh maybe more effecient but nicer looking no way what are you from europe you dont see half the cars that come out in the us making a blind assumption
I dont have to live in US to know how bad your cars are. Your best car (new CTS) is literally 10 years behind any european car in every single way. Just look at your dodges, buicks, lincolns. Those cars are so ugly and crappy its no wonder imports outsell them.
obviously you have no clue what your talking about because you don't live in the united states. your making empty statements that make no sense i can ride in a Mercedes that has the same things as a ford because Ive done so. i have yet to take your argument seriously......
Yes. But your ford doesnt have the build quality of mercedes, comfort of mercedes, it doesnt have as good engines as mercedeces does, it doesnt look so good, it doesnt drive so well, it doesnt have all the equppement that mercedes does and overall feel of all US cars i've even seen (and i've seen most of them, becuase i've been in US a couple of time) is...cheap. US cars feel cheap. Especially the interiors with cheap hard plastics and stone-age design.
It isn´t produced in Mexico anymore (I´m Mexican). Here Ford used to produce the first generation Focus until 2004 but they´re already importing Focus from Spain (since late 2006). I already confirmed that last year when I bought a 2009 Focus Sedan (made in Valencia).
Focus aren´t produced in Brazil but are produced in Argentina.
USA also produce Ford Focus but they´re different because Focus sold in USA are from 1st generation with a major restyling.
Got hit in my 2005 ford focus a few days ago, no one hurt. GMC Sierra 1500 going 20 MPH hit my passenger side and caused $4,200 in damage (totaled)
Safe but after it's wreaked, it's totaled.

Lower the drivers window down and all these models and squeeze the bottom of the window frame seal gripping the steel out side and plastic interior. Just see how flimsy these models are in comparison the ford.

The Accord lost the whole front
luisinhoens90 1 year ago

1ns4ne1d10t 1 year ago
2009jimmy2009 1 year ago
@2009jimmy2009 Lol its held in with 2 poxy T30 screws, WOW! A German car is held in with at least 4 of them. Probably even 6 just to make sure it doesn't kill people. They don't put in 2 measly screws in a headlight just to make it easier for you to change the bulbs, Ford do it to save pennies. They also don't stick rubber seals around the washer jets so the cars end up with rusted plugs which misfire and can't be replaced because they rust into the head presenting you with a £1500 bill, Nice!
1ns4ne1d10t 1 year ago
@1ns4ne1d10t well if you are useless enough, you wont get them out after they are rung off, im well aware of that problem, and also the failing power steering pump pipes etc.. im not slating german cars as i drive a c220, im just saying that every car has its faults, and overall, the focus is a good solid car. as for a headlamp falling out in a crash, wise up, i'l send you a big check if you can find me one case where a focus headlamp has killed someone
2009jimmy2009 1 year ago
@2009jimmy2009 ...Don't forget the failing and leaking injectors on the Duratorq, the £1500 clutches that last only 10,000 miles, the £1200 DMF's that die after 20,000 miles, the 'no steering no brakes' fault when the engine cuts out, the sudden death batteries that last 10 minutes from an unexplained power auxiliary drain, the poorly casted 'washing machine' crankshafts on the 1.6, the cheap cylinder head metal which casues power defects, I'm not saying they are shit. Neither are they good.
1ns4ne1d10t 1 year ago
@1ns4ne1d10t yep the 2005> had loads of faults, most of which are diesel cars which i wouldnt have about me! i put around 100k mls on a 1999 1.6 zetec, not a single days bother, well a seized brake caliper and burst brake pipe due to my own neglect, oh and a clutch. but not bad for a first generation model car (guinea pig). still have it with 160 on the clock but driving a c class for a change. im a ford tech by the way
2009jimmy2009 1 year ago
@2009jimmy2009 I can't believe Ford still use the old 8V 1.8 TDCi 115, they have it in a 125 now. It was a turd polished Endura Diesel engine, absolutely diabolocal. Same with the Transit engines, they shoved them in a Mondeo and Jag X-Type. Yet they had the famous ICU failures and injector failures costing £1200 per injector not to mention the appalling misfire. The Jag had a different head and injector set which wasn't Delphi but still had the de-ja-vous ICU failures. As you probably know
1ns4ne1d10t 1 year ago

I would be more worried about a 1500kg car coming at me at 40 mph :)
wheeliehome 11 months ago
@wheeliehome Actually what I said is all true "Crap" apparently. Ford owners such as yourselves have zero brain cells thats why you buy Fords. Ford take the mickey out of you guys and you just don't see it. Thats why the darn motor company is like a cockroach that can't be killed. The naive and the no brainers are the only roaches left who are keeping the blue oval alive. When Henry Ford found out the model T had a reliable rear axel he replaced it will a cheap nasty one. Bear that in mind.

@fear946
Every car can be reliable if you take care of it. All the Fords I´ve had have been good, even I had a Dodge Stratus (its parent company Chrysler is one of the most underrated brands) and it never gave me a problem. And I had that car for 10 years. I also had a Subaru Legacy and a VW type 1 from 67, not only Fords.
luisinhoens90 1 year ago
@fear946 I would take your word for it and I know you are speaking the truth, don't listen to these Ford huggers they have a Ford for 5 minutes and they think its damn reliable. I used to work for RAC autowindscreens and I used to chat with a lot of servicemen. Do you know what they all said the best reliable cars are? JAPANESE. Closely followed by German. They didn't say Ford, Vauxhall or Alfa/Fiat. They will often say "I had a Jap car that was less reliable then Fords" Its bullshit.
1ns4ne1d10t 1 year ago

fear946 1 year ago
@fear946 He's only had it for a year, Ford Focus 1.8 TDCi's are made almost entirely of Delphi parts and the 1.8 engine is an old polished turd 8 valve endura diesel. Basically it came out of Escorts/Mondeo's and Fiestas then progressed into a TDCi. I'm probably telling you grammar to suck eggs but they are the worst buggars for DMF, clutch and injector failures which cost £1200 per injector. Not cheap!

Dont forget people, This ford is built on the Volvo platform thats why its so safe, hell even the ST has the Volvo T5 engine, Ford are just shit, in the 80's and 90's it was cosworth engines that made ford its name, today it Volvo engines and body's which keep them in business.
t5mikka 1 year ago
@t5mikka shut up, thats only because ford OWND VOLVO, so actually the safety systems are the opposite way round...
does volvo come with ALL of it's safety features standard? AND did Volvo invent inflatable seatbelts? no they didn't
jaffacake1578 1 year ago
@jaffacake1578 Type this in: Euro NCAP | Ford Ranger | 2008 | Crash test
I suggest you watch this before you think Fords safety is always leading the way and is better then Volvo, after seeing that it really makes you wonder. Other 2008 4x4's were getting 4 and 5 stars 3 years ago. Fords 4x4's still cumple up like a chinese car did 20 years ago. Its a European Ford built in 2008 so I wouldn't praise ford too much if I were you.
1ns4ne1d10t 1 year ago
@jaffacake1578 I see your another dumb TWAT who knows nothing about cars, Volvo was the first car to support a 3 point seat belt, the first with crumple zones, the first car to have side airbags, the first with ROPS, SIPS, Twin airbags, seats that move sideways, the list goes on, ALL were standard, unlike Ford which often resulted in a steering wheel to the head or something that burst into flames, yeah Ford really know what there doing, a 1996 850 had all the above as standard 14 years ago.
t5mikka 1 year ago
@t5mikka Who owns ford now?
19ranger90 1 year ago
@19ranger90 Ford does, Ford acquired Volvo in 1999 but only the car division, with that money Volvo acquired the Renault Trucks & Mack Trucks, later Volvo acquired Nissan Diesel, back to Volvo cars, Ford sold Volvo cars last year (2010) to Zhejiang Geely Holding Group in China, Very sad and no doubt Ford kept all the important stuff as they do, if u get me.
t5mikka 1 year ago
@t5mikka God I remember when Volvo got the 300 series built in Holland. They used to have Renault 21 1.7 engines in them. Loads of my family and friends had a Volvo 300 at some point. My Uncle had a 1.7 with the 8V 1.7 Carburettor Renault 21 Savanna engine in it and my aunties husband had a Volvo 300 that was so old it still had a manual choke. Lol. They were a joke. Absolute unreliable rotters for Volvo's they were.
1ns4ne1d10t 1 year ago
@1ns4ne1d10t HA I remember those, LOL, now where going back, lol
t5mikka 1 year ago
@t5mikka Luckily my dad never had a Volvo 300 but he's driven my uncles and my aunties husbands one. They were dreafully underpowered like a Hamster pushing a filing cabinet and they roll about something chronic. The bodywork is 3 times heavier then a tank and none of that was helped by its RWD setup. The 1.7's were sluggish as hell but the ones that went down to 1.4 were 1000 times worse then that. My aunties husbands was a 1.4 and he couldn't pull out of junctions properly. Lol
1ns4ne1d10t 1 year ago
@t5mikka LOL Ford had 3 firetraps that burst into flames during crashes. 1. Pinto 2. RS2000 3. 1990 Escort MkIV. These Focus II's were recalled in July 2008 because they had PAS hose failures which caused fires in the engine bay. That makes 4. And they were recalled for TUC Brake Vaccum pumps because they lost their brakes. It just shows you that even when Ford use Volvo's help, they still manage to make a Volvo dangerous. Making a Volvo dangerous is almost impossible, only Ford can do that.
1ns4ne1d10t 1 year ago
@1ns4ne1d10t LOL, spot on, saw plenty of RS turbos go bang after hitting trees etc in my boy racer days of 1990's onwards, shame, them and the cosworths were the only fords I liked but again not fords technology to start with.
t5mikka 1 year ago
@t5mikka Ford just don't know what they are doing with anything. Like now, they put EAC's on all the Fords which is a fly-by-wire throttle and no other manufacturer has that. When the EAC fails its a gamble on 2 dangerous things 1. Powerless Limp mode 2. Brake failure, steering failure = Total loss of control. Its a known thing especially with Fiestas. Their control bladed suspension can also crab walk causing a danger to the cars stability. You should read things about Ford. Its laughable.
1ns4ne1d10t 1 year ago
@1ns4ne1d10t Fly by wire is used by loads if manufacturers where did you get that from?.
wheeliehome 11 months ago
@wheeliehome Look up the word EAC. It stands for Electronic accelerator control. If you search EAC failures the only cars that get them is FORDS. Typically 2003-2008 model Fiestas. I rest my case...
1ns4ne1d10t 11 months ago
@t5mikka i agree,,,,ford suck.
fear946 1 year ago
@t5mikka You will find the Volvo S40 is actually built on FORDS platform, not the other way around
benbay001 1 year ago
@benbay001 Nope Volvo platform using Volvo's patented crumple zones etc, using the same electronics bla bla bla, Ford renamed the platform as theirs when they bought Volvo, many other cars are also built on this platform from other manufactures as theres nothing Ford wont sell.
t5mikka 1 year ago
@t5mikka That explains why the Focus II platform is totally different one to the old Focus I. The old Focus I was a Mazda 3 platform. The Focus II is almost a completely different car altogether to the old Focus. Its much wider and bulkier. They also stuck the Dagenham rebuilt T5 in the Focus II whereas the old RS was a 4-pot. I'm not sure if the new Focus is getting a 2.0T because of the emmissions claim, or because Ford sold Volvo to a Chinese holding group. I'm not sure.
1ns4ne1d10t 1 year ago
@1ns4ne1d10t Yeah the good thing about the RS having the T5 engine in means lots of T5 6 speed gearboxs about for cheap money from crashed fords, go well in the volvo 850 T5's & R's, lol, only prob is final gear is the same ratio as the original gearboxes of 14 years ago so not sure if worth the hassle.
t5mikka 1 year ago
@t5mikka Fords gearboxes are probably the shitter ones then the original Volvo T5's anyway hence being cheaper. Don't forget that Ford bully their vendors into cheapening transmissions to drive down the cost. You will probably find the cogs are a worse quality of alloy and don't last as long. It wouldn't surprise me they are probably much whinier in noise then a Volvo box. I remember our enterprise Focuses and Fiestas both sharing the same whiny 1st and screamy 2nd gear from 15 years ago. Lol
1ns4ne1d10t 1 year ago
@t5mikka Everything Ford made themselves was shit, never galvanized and never lasted, thats why they had to turn to PSA for diesel engines and Mazda/Yamaha for petrol engines. Don't forget that Fords were built on MAZDA platforms. All Ford ever do is design a body and chuck crumby Delphi parts in it. I agree with you totally, they can't even get build quality right. You could slide breifcases through Ford panel gaps and they rust in places and squeak too.
1ns4ne1d10t 1 year ago
@1ns4ne1d10t What? How much bullshit can one idiot talk? Quite a lot it seems. Nakke144 1 year ago
1ns4ne1d10t 1 year ago
@1ns4ne1d10t 1) There is a difference between stealing components, and co-developing&sharing them between companies. 2) I dont give a shit what you think about Fords, as long as you stop trolling, and stating false information about them here. And you dont seem like the brightest chicken in the flock, so arguing w/you is like talking to a giraffe, you really dont get any decent argumentation, or facts for that matter, only mindless grunting and childish whining.
Nakke144 1 year ago
@Nakke144 Co-developing!? I would hardly call Fords ventures a "Co-development" its more like a conspiracy to RUIN things. Oh, I'm not trolling, I'm just laying down the law. Lol

DylanA321 1 year ago
@DylanA321 You MADE the car spin, to reduce speed?? Haha, i think thats called losing control
benbay001 1 year ago
@benbay001 no actually, if i didn't hit the brakes at the crucial point in the change of inertia the car would have went into the ditch sideways, and probably flipped over and i would be here to explain this to you, by slamming the brakes when i did, it shifted the weight to the front, making the front end have more friction and the rear continued to slide, but yes, initially i did lose control of the car when the right side tires hit the soft shoulder of the road, going too fast was the problem
DylanA321 1 year ago

Its funny you say that because focus still looks better than 99% of US cars. Seriosuly, and this is the old version....so you cant count that, this version isnt produced anymore.
derbigpr500 2 years ago
hahahahahahaha good sell you make me laugh maybe more effecient but nicer looking no way what are you from europe you dont see half the cars that come out in the us making a blind assumption
ryeman4233 2 years ago
I dont have to live in US to know how bad your cars are. Your best car (new CTS) is literally 10 years behind any european car in every single way. Just look at your dodges, buicks, lincolns. Those cars are so ugly and crappy its no wonder imports outsell them.
derbigpr500 2 years ago 4
obviously you have no clue what your talking about because you don't live in the united states. your making empty statements that make no sense i can ride in a Mercedes that has the same things as a ford because Ive done so. i have yet to take your argument seriously......
ryeman4233 2 years ago

How many places does build this Focus?
