I guess it is a matter of interpretation :) The lyrics are not sad persé, but in the overall message of Land Before Time and the way Diana Ross sang it is more of a remembrance song I think.

I like the Diana Ross version, I always got tingles, but your version is really nice and I love the way your singing sounds too ^^ You handle high and low notes well and your voice sounds really clear and pretty for those parts.

Plus if I'd tried singing it I would have started crying in the middle XD I'm a softie lol.
