The Mig-29 is a fine aircraft, but it still depends upon whom is in the cockpit.

@BoxyTheSpaceDog Of course those are all impressive features, but it is more so further steps in aircraft development. Being "ahead of it's time" more so refers to very advanced planes. Like the Me 262. Usually something that is "ahead of it's time" was not fully developed and tried to make too many leaps and bounds for it's generation. The MiG-29 is obviously good, but not really "ahead of it's time."

@BitnikGr Maybe becuase of its design as the F15 has the olden layout and the MiG 29 has the modern 1 .I am not sure of the lay out name but the fighter ahead of its time refers to the Su 27 as they improved so much.

@pokemon5615 The so called "integral layout", where wings and fuselage create additional lift surface was implemented at least in F-16 and SU-27 before MiG-29.

MiG-29 sure had some features that Western planes hadn't in term of weapon systems for next 9 years.

From the first seconds of this video MiG-29 was stated as a "champion". I am really disappointed that they didn't mention its flying records, which it holds till today. For example, rate of climb of 333m/s. They should mention it.
