7 and 9 are without a doubt the best of the series. FFIX is still the greatest video game I have ever played and I'm convinced it'll stay #1 til the day I die. The game is just so perfect. Story, characters, gameplay, cutscenes... I'm still blown away by it. I've never gotten so attached to a game before... makes me wish I still had my Playstation

@Dreiundachzig tbh, 7-9 were my all time favorites, but I still LOVE 10, and though i DESPISE 11 and 14, and dislike 12, I think 13 was HUGELY underrated. 13 was incredible imo, just takes a bit more patience than the others

@Dreiundachzig yeah, that and the fact that none of the final fantasy games are connected in anyway whatsoever (except for sequels, prequels (i.e. crisis core, X-2), tactics and dissidia). In fact, they are all in completely different universes. Thought, SUPPOSEDLY, it is rumoured that X is set in the same universe as VII, though i myself see no correlation

All the Final Fantasy games are good ^_^! I just hate to see people fight over which one is better ^_^ 6,7,8,9,12, 13 are good games to me, but I really love them all. The plot, characters, and setting place. What's not to love. I just wish we could have a Final Fantasy Mix In Battle (Where every character in all of the games gets to be in it)

8 sucked. Plain and simple. The only reason people hate on 7 is because they're just afraid to admit it's the most successful FF. That and they're too scared to admit to liking it because it's supposedly too "mainstream".

What was so bad about 8? It had the better story, better characters, Junctioning was far better than the materia and character levels. Gunblade was cooler than the plain buster sword.

7 had better music, and a better villian. Everything else about it was not as good as 8. People hate to admit since 7 is so wildly fanboy popular and Squall didn't do Omnislash nor was there One Winged Angel music.

The Materia system is one of the best ever. You have complete control over how your character is played. EACH character in 7 was practically a main character. All their stories were so engaging. Even the optional characters Vincent and Yuffie. The main chracter isn't even one character. It's TWO! Look at how many other titles have branched off of 7. The characters are deep and have so much story. I don't see Selphie or Quistis being able to handle their own title.

You can argue that 7 having so many spin-off titles is a function of its rabid fanboy popularity. Materia system was inefficient compared to junctioning since materia depended on levels. I didn't care for that at all.

Vincent and Yuffie weren't essential to the story, nor were they needed to beat the game. I personally didn't like the Yuffie character and Vincent seemed thrown in...mainly to appeal to western culture.

Have you played FF4? Best main character ever.

i think everyone here can agree most ff games have a great story line but the reason 7 is so great is not just the story that is what turned the ff series into 3d but i still think its the best although i like ff 9's battle system learning through weapons is awesome 12's battle system was garbage i think that crisis core has a preety steady battle system

ya but the ff's were short lived. 7 was the landmark with the playstations polygons. Gave it a whole new feel.

8 was to ahead of it's time. You didn't want to see a dude with a sniper rifle and space. That was star oceans territory. 9 had rich classic pictures with gameplay, and tactics just had THE story.

10 took it to the next stuff in full graphics but I always liked the classics of 7 and 9 better. Then 12 just sucked and it doesn't look good for 13.

Im gonna have to say 9 was my favourite.

I havnt completed 8 yet, im about 3/4 there and I have completed 7 several times.

Ive done all the originals and completed 12 about 98%

9, to me, was the funnest. The only problem I see with it is the fact that you can get to the end with average-level playing, doing whatever sidequests you happen to find on your journey, and still be around lvl 38-48.

But I do love the ability-through-weapon learning and all the characters though :D

no, it's because the story is unbelievable. and the other stories of 7 - Dirge of Cerberus, Crisis Core, Advent Children, I all have them - support this theses. Part 7 has the best story.

But 8 & 9 ain't much worse, it's just a little bit.

and there might be something that i don't see in the game. i know about the entire game and its story, but i personally do not think that its as good as 8 or 9. (also some of the plot was not complete like the date thing) and a lot i want to say.

but like i said everyone has their own favorite and i was curious what you liked it for.

also i dont think the 9 is childish even though they look young. its more mature then it seams.

it's princess Garnet. one of the most important characters in this game. when she meets the thief Zidane, the main character you play, her life and point of view of the world changes.

The game is more made for kids not for older ones. but the storyline is awesome. it's woth to play
