  • Tired of swimming videos with virtually no actual swimming. I can read an article if all I wanted was a description!

  • bla bla bla bla he only talk

  • So let's see you DO the drill rather than demonstrate it standing still.

  • Go even learn to teach swimming and then put the video on YouTube

  • Lots of negative comments from negative people. He is a good coach and I have seen them all.

  • This guy is absolutely worthless. J. D'shea and the swim videos made by "everybodyswim" is incredible. I was a big fat guy who lost 150 pounds swimming in 6 months.

  • He's not worthless at all, a very good instructor. Maybe for an olympic swimmer like you. Very good tips thanks.

  • i find these videos very helpful. Thanks!

  • dont make comment unless your comment is bad meaning dont make bad comment if the instructor see the comments he feels sad that the others don't realized how much he sacrifice this work advices only!!/.......... dont be angry

  • this guy talks too much in all his videos

  • You said NOTHING about how to perform a free style kick.

    Absolutely useless.

  • i gotta get faster cuz im tryin to get in the coast guard and i raced this girl that use be on a swim team and she left my azz lol

  • I hate kickboard...it's just like a obstacle to me@@ It haunts me to use it

  • same here flutter kick is the worst

  • @Kessiforever810417 maybe extend it out more, it lets you get more of a workout & last longer during it , i feel comfortable with it because sometimes when youre tired popping up to take those breaths suck

  • he is absolutely terrible...he doesnt move at all when he "demonstrates the breath" and thats not how you would breath while you are kicking either, you would take 1 arm pull to either side, without using much force when you pull so that you get all the benefit from your kick but still are able to catch a breath.

  • Its a drill..... not a demonstration of freestyle breathing.

  • well.......the thing that gets me is, how come he dosent demenstrate?

  • ilovealiffaziz u just need 2 get in better shape.. when i first started swimming i cldnt last very long but after a few weeks of practice

i cld last a lot longer.

i can do a few 500's w/o getting 2 tired. and i dont think that kicking is the most important part of the freestyle but it does help.

my kick is realy good when im on a kickboard jst kicking but when i do the whole stroke my kicking is the weakest part.

i dont realy remember 2 kick as hard because im more focused on my hand stroke.

  • that's wrong dude, yes it does depend on who you talk to but in my opinion kicking is the most important part of a stroke, especially in competitive. i'm not sure if you ever took lessons but there's a reason why swim instructors drill kicking over and over.

  • I hate kickboards! LOL

  • me too, it's much easier 2 swim without them

  • Kickboard: my mortal enemey

  • why??

  • Dead Cat

Next time I swim I will try that. I appreciate your answer.

  • How much does a good kick improve your overall speed? I've always muscled through with my arms because my kick never seemed to help a damn - all it did was keep my legs from sinking.

  • If u want velocity a good kick is fundamental. Prob is that one, its not so easy as it seems and two, a good strong kick is so damn tiring. If u wanna see one the best kicks around watch Ian Thorpe's vids underwater. Hes really got a propeller there instead of a pair of legs!

I also have always underestimated it and now its hard to catch up

  • Apsolutely aggre. Actualy the legs are the thing that pushes u foreward the most!

  • I think I kick like this. However, when I swim with a kickboard, I do not get any forward propelsion. Any idea on what I am doing wrong?

    Thanks

  • ur probably not keeping ur legs straight. idk

  • Thanks for the reply. However, I even had the lifeguard watch me swim. She said I had a good kick and could not understand it herself. She thought I might be too muscular and not enough fat. I am a guy. I watch the Olympics and see most of the swimmers as lean although SOME women tend to be a little chubby. Natalie Coughlin and Dara Torres certainly are not though. When I use flippers, I really move along.

  • Well here's one thing you should know about it. You MUST feel your hips moving from side to side. Actually you don't really have a choice when your legs are perfectly straight. Try to keep them close together. That's another thing. And if it works you might as well try putting more power into each kick. It may propel you faster. In other words you don't move them as fast but you push them in deeper. Just keep trying. You should get it. No disadvantages in swimming. Just need practice.

  • it's very special lessons to me...

    I'm just beginner...

    thanks a lot~!

  • its easy to swin ffs

  • Not competitive. Sure WOOHOO you get the technique down. You can ALWAYS improce. That's what this excercise is for. The more muscle in that area the better you will swim. It's little things like NOT SLAPPING YOUR HANDS INTO THE WATER but gliding them in without a splash that help you with speed.

  • Are your legs supposed to be completely straight when you kick or does anything bend?

  • legs straight, toes pointed

  • search up ian thorp he bends his knees a tad

  • @JAHRULing They don't have to be completely straight in a way you have to contract your muscles to keep them straight...They have to be kinda straight...But in a relaxed way...You will bend a little your knee and especially your ankle and that's okay...No need to focus in not bending knees or ankle, just focus in "small" kicks...i.e. kicks with low amplitude...

    Hope it helped.

  • hello! can i ask you a question? i often get tired very fast and can't balance. everytime i do the freestyle, i cannot breathe easily. ill get breathless only after a few laps and i really need to buck up. how do i do that all. =(

  • me too . . .

  • same here

  • Two possibilities. Either you aren't in shape so in other words just keep practicing WITHOUT killing yourself = o, or you aren't breathing poroperly. I had a problem where I didn't release enough oxygen (You blow your air out when your head is in the water) and I only breathed a very little bit in when I took a breath. So try blowing all the air by the 5th turn of your right arm or you can switch. (breathe from your right, then left, the right etc.)

  • gracias senor!

  • nice lesson!
