Hi, nice vid! How do you get the video to sync with the ls10 audio? Sorry, I'm a total newby to home recording. Can I ask what video recorder you are using?
@ShiekahTribe Hello, Zoom, not the 'I tried ... It depends on what you do ... The video was created just to clear my head ... As for the 'Olympus, the price is very reasonable for what it offers ... P.s. .. Thanks for the compliment ... Will be reported ... :)...
Hey :) I still don't know which device I should buy... I can't decide, Zoom H4n or the Olympus LS-10/11... I've heard many good and many bad stories about the Zoom, and the sound samples I've listened to were pretty good. But I've read many tests about the LS-11 and all of them said the sound quality was so spectacular. Then I had a record to compare both devices and in my opinion, the Zoom H4n sounded much better than the LS-11 in the acoustic band test. It's also a matter of price...
@ShiekahTribe Hello, I honestly have not got to try the recorder you mentioned ... But I can respond to one thing ... Unfortunately for comparing two registers, it takes a long time ... Saputi should know to be configured with the same parameters ... It depends very much on the 'use that have to do ... It 's also a subjective matter ... Anyway, a tape recorder all-rounder, there ... :).
@mikesmultimedia Hello, interviews for the Olympus recorder is a real walk ... The battery life, even if 12 hours, seems limitless ... I never had problems from this point of view ... The model in the video, as well as transfer data via USB, allows the 'firmware update again via the same link ... :).
soundwise, the best quality for sound capabilities....sony has it with there build IN mics, unbelievable even on the icd-sx750,so impressed,if ONLY they had over dub features, everybody would be outa business, youd literally have a studio in ur pocket,PERIOD
They give you the remote control supplied with the receiver for the remote to attach to the recorder (can be useful) ... And finally they say "Improving the accuracy of the clock" ... -.-... Here in Italy costs roughly 100 euros more ... If you have 100 euros more to spend, it makes even ... It 'definitely a newer model ... But are those changes that serve only to keep alive the product (in my opinion minor), and to revitalize the Register on the market ...
Hello, sorry for the delay ... Between 'ls - 10 el' Ls - 11 changes very little ... L 'Ls - 11 more than have a few things ... For example, an editing system to edit the audio directly from the wire recorder (I'd always do when they are already downloaded to your computer) ... Change the color (which frankly I do not like) ... Change the internal memory from 2 GB to 8 GB comes (only change really interesting) ...
I sincerely advise you l 'Ls - 10 ... For your use is perfect ... I 've also used for a recording of a battery, with a microphone attached separately for the chest, was quite satisfactory ... L 'sound you hear on Youtube and a fifth of the original quality ... Then an 'other strength of this recorder is the sensitivity of the microphones and the low noise signal ... Do not forget that this is portable in a pocket ... That is all ... Then let me know your choice ... Regards, Marco. :)...
Third, the PCM D50 costs almost twice as much to 'ls - 10 ... And finally the PCM D50, does not possess (as I understood), the internal speakers which, from personal experience, are very useful when you do not have headphones available, or you simply want to hear if the recording came out, or better yet If you want to hear the recording to many people ...
Hello, despite the great esteem I have for Sony products, this time I would recommend a product Olympus ... You start by saying I do not know the PCM D50, but reading the specifications, I realized that: First, has a memory expandable up to a maximum of 4 GB (l 'Ls - 10 supports SDHC cards, and up to 32 GB) ... Second, the PCM D50 not recording (as I understood), in PCM ...
The settings were in manual... The volume will change the style of the song that was played, so I used a 'fixed setting. The sense of the microphone was on "Panoramic". The recording was immediately equilizzata slightly, and added a slight Reverb...
Ok, I'll keep it elementary. The stereo image is out of phase. Regardless of distortion/quantisation noise and other typical
artifacts found in these PCM based units, I think the stereo image has somehow inversed. The mics appear to be in reverse X/Y configuration, and I'm wondering if this is inverted (corrected) in the processor before writing audio data. As it is, the unit looks ok, but phase issues are thoroughly unacceptable.
I understand. You can say that I am not an expert so that you can see this thing. I am a very picky and precise. The file, however, was "equilizzato" in post production and was added a slight reverb. I really do not know how you manage to see something like this, because for me, belonging to the slight distortion, seems perfect for its characteristics.
You can hear it. I think the mics and pre amp on the LS-10 from your demo appear to be reasonable, and as a MONO unit could be quite practical. But as it stands, the Imaging is definately got phase issues.
i apologize about my critique of what you stated, personally i don't find the phase issues to be annoying but the artifacts render the conversion/24bit meaningless... most people buy these like i did thinking "oh, 24 bit, going to be better than cd quality hype" well i realize that it means nothing if your clean guitar tone is 24bit artifact plagued sound.
I've only had slight phase issues, it's the distortion/artifacts that bother me.
Believe me, the phase issues are the only thing that are disappointing. The mics are FAR superior than all of the competition has on offer, and it's just a damn shame the design engineers fell asleep at the last 5 meters of the race. I only noticed the phase discrepency myself because I do field recording and post foley, so it's a critical factor that i must ride during every recording. I'll stick with a laptop, Apogee duet and Neumann pencil condensers for field recording. Olympus..so close...
Simply, waveforms that are of the same frequency (In this case a stereo source) but do not pass through corresponding values at the same instant, resulting in cancellationof audio material.
Simple harmonic motion is a displacement that varies cyclically, and when a stereo signal has it's phase relationship (Left channel arriving miliseconds befor the right chanel) compromised, audio material is cancelled out.
Do you refer the case for the distortion that you hear at some point? Because I can not hear this annulment. I assure you that the original audio file is truly impressive. Unfortunately Youtube is losing a lot from all points of view ... I must find a way to post the original audio file.
can i conect a keyboard right to the recorder?.... or a keyboard o bass? i want to record a electric guitar but i dont now id ihave to record it whit the mics or right to the line in.
The recorder has an input line-in... You can connect anything. So even a keyboard. The quality of sound that you hear on Youtube, is halved compared to original. We can assure that quality is formidable.
Cool!!! 56% off now!!!

@regista Well, it is too late anyway. I bought a Zoom H4n and I'm pretty happy with it! ;)

I'm having trouble uploading with LS-10. How do I do it?
jenniferzelnick 1 year ago
I just got the LS-10 for field, interview, and random notes, and idea recording.
Was wondering if you feel the battery life is okay.
One thing the LS-11 says it that it goes up to 23 hours vs. the 12 hrs on the LS-10.
Also, were you able to do any firmware upgrades using its USB, or was the USB only for file transfers.
Thanks.

@mikesmultimedia Do you know how I can put my recording from my LS-10 on my computer?
jenniferzelnick 1 year ago
@jenniferzelnick Sure, you can insert the SD card into a card reader to computer, or you can connect the recorder via USB cable ... :).
