But yeah, as others have said the original black characters are the (black) mages. Kiros is one of my favorites. I like his design. And Vivi is one of my favorite characters. I love him!!
IMO and I dont intend to offend anyone, but I think it would be worst if they wouldnt add a black skin character, it would give the message of only white skin people and I think not everyone would like that. Well thats what I think dont get mad at me I just gave mi honest opinion :)

I'm pretty amazed at this too; one thing the guy said in the video was the texture of the hair but black folks have all kinds of textures of hair nappy, kinky, curly, stright, and fine hair not all black folks have afros. So in a way I like the japanese drawing black people with stright hair because there are a lot of blacks with stright hair.

"Blacks" do not have straight hair, people with a portion of black genes (be it the majority or minority) along with other racial genes have straight hair. Actually, I just realized the first black character in a video game was from Sega's Heavyweight Champ way back in 1976! Either way, I'm sure we can all agree that the Black Mage was at least the first black RPG character, right?

Auron isn't Asian; If Auron is Asian then Rikku is white.

They are Africans because of where they were born and raised but Caucasian in terms skin color. Caucasian People who have african blood in them are are usually called mulatto's or sometimes creole, but they're both black and white. nationality and race are two different things. Nationality is where you are born and/or the country you have citizenship in. Race is skin color.

It's interesting to watch this after playing FFXIII. I would say, without any reservations whatsoever, that Sazh is the best black FF yet. Certainly the one with the most effective backstory. He was actually one of the best characters in the entire game - without a doubt.

@35823582 yes black people do come in all shades but no matter what color they come in they have AFROCENTRIC features. There's all types of afrocentric features but its really easy to tell if someone is of black origin. Yes, the characters in FF do seem to "lean" towards a certain race, but no one in FF is black, white, Jew, asian, or Hispanic . Yuna is obviously a bit "asian" looking even though she's described as being half-Albhed . Rikku appears to be what me might identify as "white" even though she's described as Al Bhed. Auron isn't Asian; If Auron is Asian then Rikku is white.

@dav1nl33 okay, i'm going to try to explain this. in south africa there are white people of british descent. They are Africans because of where they were born and raised but Caucasian in terms skin color. Caucasian People who have african blood in them are are usually called mulatto's or sometimes creole, but they're both black and white. nationality and race are two different things. Nationality is where you are born and/or the country you have citizenship in. Race is skin color.

It's interesting to watch this after playing FFXIII. I would say, without any reservations whatsoever, that Sazh is the best black FF yet. Certainly the one with the most effective backstory. He was actually one of the best characters in the entire game - without a doubt.

There's all types of afrocentric features but its really easy to tell if someone is of black origin.
